In this video, I go over the basics of what I wish I would have brought to my inpatient rehab treatment facility from day one. Recovery is hard enough, so hopefully this video will make it easier for you. Pack like you're going away for a "comfy" vacation. Leave the fancy things at home and focus on self-care items. Check with your center to see what they provide as well.
    Here's the basic list:
-A week's worth of comfy clothes
Hoodies, sweaters, yoga pants, leggings, soft t-shirts
-2 nicer outfits for going out on public outings
    -Shoes
Slip ons for inside the facility, and a pair for outside
    -Light blanket and small pillow
    For lounging around the facility
    -Medication and prescriptions
Will be handed over to the nurses (check w/ your rehab)
    -Shower caddy
    -Personal hygiene items
Full-sized, unopened, no alcohol in ingredients
    -Hobby to occupy your time
For ex., origami, beading, coloring, reading
-MP3 player with no wifi access
    -Letters / envelopes / stamps
-List of people you want to keep in contact with
    Names, phone numbers, addresses
    -Journal and pen
You will be taking lots of notes and may use writing as a way to pass the time
-Pictures of loved ones to decorate your room
    -Alarm clock
    Battery operated is best
    -Cash in small denominations
    For store runs and cigarettes
    -Cigarettes if you smoke
Bring a carton or two, you will go through a lot yourself and by sharing!
GOOD LUCK in rehab. Just do your best and know you're taking a major step in the right direction in bettering your life. Leave a comment if you're going to rehab so I can keep you in my thoughts.
    -Dorathy
P.S. I will update this and do a "pack with me for rehab" style video in the future. I also apologize for cutting my forehead off half of the video. I am new to this YT thing...

Thank you for making this video. It has been so helpful. My son is leaving for rehab this week and I needed to know what to pack for him. Yours is the most informative and helpful video I found. It is so nice to see you are still doing well. It brings me hope for my son as well. God bless you.

@@dorathyly My son actually left rehab and relapsed the next day. He went back to rehab and left again after about a week. He's back in jail now awaiting court. But even after all this I know there's still hope for him. It doesn't matter how many times you fall as your learning to walk, it just matters that you live to get up again and eventually you will make it. I too am a recovering addict. I've been in recovery for 7 years now but only after 3 trips to inpatient rehab, 3 times in IOP, a lot of jail time, I tried every antidepressant known to man and other meds too, Suboxone treatment, and tons of therapy. I finally asked God to help me or let me die and He did. I enrolled in the methadone maintenance program 7 years ago and I have finally tapered down to 10mg from my top dose of 90mg and soon I hope to be totally free of everything. I pray it happens sooner than that for my son but for some of us the journey is long. So thankful for you and the encouragement you are bringing to people.

I am of you tonight for choosing to recover, even with all the ups and downs. Progress isn’t linear but it’s the continual push forward that will get you where you want and need to be. Set small goals along the way - you’ve already accomplished the first major one by accepting that you need help to heal. Best wishes to you ♡

How are you doing right now? Did you end up finding a rehab to go to? This could be a major turning point for you if the stars all align in your favor. If a good opportunity arises, make sure to take it and try your best. If you feel like you’re out of options, know that there are always resources available to you if you want them. You can always shoot me an email at lydorathy@gmail.com if you need some support or help finding resources in your area.

Thank you for this video there isn't much help on TH-cam at all for this topic.. I will be going this week to rehab but unfortunately in mine there is no visitation nor phones allowed.. no phone usage at all for the 6 days I will be there 😢 that is what is making me scared 😳

How was your stay? Are you finished with inpatient yet? I hope you’re doing well. Make sure you’re following a solid aftercare plan. That’s my only advice! Best wishes :)

Would you mind sharing why you went to rehab? For me it will be for opioids. I am curious if your stay was "unbearable" or "tolerable " as far as the withdrawals go..

Same for me! The first week was a complete blur. Maybe I’ll make a video about it soon. I’d like to start uploading weekly.
