1:00 I did the math - it would be about 12.000 USD per laid off worker per year. Still insane to give the top a 63% (!) pay raise in a time of layoffs.
The executives get a bonus for cutting costs. They do not care if they ruin the lives of many people. Usually you also find that the same companies claim that they claim to care about people, mention fairness and corporate governance, but ruining people's lives fell through the cracks since people are just numbers.
I love that 10% of your viewers like your videos consistently. That's a crazy good ratio for a daily upload of +20 mins, statistically. Thanks for the years of fun links, friends! (engagement challenge: what are the thoughts Krista won't say out loud? 😜)
The sad thing is - they were offering me damn near a free phone upgrade, and I turned it down simply because they required me to keep it locked for 60 days, which would require me to use stock Google Android for that duration. I simply wanted to run GrapheneOS, I had no intention of changing carriers whatsoever. Locking your purchased device should be illegal no matter what. I should be able to install whatever damn software I wish, and I should be able to remove their garbage bloatware while I'm at it. The fact that I can't even unlock the bootloader because it's "carrier locked" is insane.
In terms of the Apple and Goldman Sachs story, I'm not surprised Apple would hide interest free payments from users, unless they used Safari. People wonder why I despise Apple as a company.
Adobe has totally lost the plot. The artists I work with (that I commission as a writer or know because of writing) have already worked hard to leave Adobe because of the AI stuff, and they've straight up asked for my help and advice regarding switching to Linux out of fears of Microsoft Recall. The price with Adobe's painting tools is NOT the problem, it's Adobe. lol

I could not believe this when I looked up the numbers this morning and did the math: Private Citizen Tax Revenues (including individual income and payroll taxes): Approximately 82.98% of the total federal tax revenue. Business Tax Revenues (corporate income taxes): Approximately 5.87%. Excise Taxes and Other Sources: Approximately 11.15%. Why does a government that gets almost it's entire source of revenue income from private citizens give them almost no protection and exploits them at almost every turn, versus the way they treat corporate America...that account's for less than 6% of Tax revenue in this country as of last year?
taxes DO NOT pay for Government spending taxes ARE NOT a "revenue source" for the Government companies and owners DO NOT PAY TAXES, they pass it on to the customer. so raising corporate taxes is ANOTHER TAX on poor people. Excise tax or tariff are passed to the customer, so ANOTHER TAX on poor people.

I love the show, and I would like to just add one note about the Meta Quest 3s. They were open that it was more of an improved Quest 2, re-using many parts like the displays and lenses to lower costs. The main improvement though is the processor. It allows much higher quality gaming on the headset
imagine your home land line locked to a specific region and you can only call the people in the same region, then when you move you can't bring your phone with you.
That used to be the old way, if something is free you’re the product. the New model is, you pay $1000 for a device is locked into an ecosystem and they still take the data on how you use the product.
Amazon has been using the paper instead of bubbles here for at least a year. My cat loves to shred the stuff. He'll hold down a section with his paw and rip off chunks with his mouth. So cute, so vicious. :D
T-Mobile and AT&T opposing phone unlock and claiming it's good for customers is hilarious. So the phones are cheaper because they are locked to a carrier? But they pay the manufacturer the same as if it was unlocked? So the price difference for the customer has to come from somewhere right? But the carriers pay the difference because they want to help their users get cheaper phones? OK that sounds right. So none of the account costs for the customers are ever used to pay this difference right? They are so nice to us!
Just like Christa, I also hate using Safari, although I watch TH-cam, Facebook and Instagram there because it is so bad that it doesn't let the apps work with their intrusive functions. Plus, by putting Safari in desktop mode and using TH-cam I can skip all the ads just by drag the video bar at the end XD

FWIW, @13:10 Most of the world's lithium used in batteries comes from lithium dissolved in water (brine) evaporation ponds and they're located in deserts in Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia.

VR has it's strengths. It's great for sim games that support it (e.g. a game like Elite Dangerous becomes way more immersive). It has it's niche social circles that you won't be able to find elsewhere. It has it's uses when you use it as a monitor replacement (practically you can have as many monitors/windows as you can use) It's really made it's place in, uhh, adult nature documentaries. But all in all it's not really ready for widespread audience.

When does america make it a felony to possess another persons data without them signing a physical pc of paper. DOJ needs to get a spine. Broken window policy just going after company after company when they can nip it at the bud by making the sentence mandatory 10 years prison for knowingly in possession of another citizens data without written (on physical paper) permission. If a product is created by that customers data (AI) everyone involved is direct beneficiaries of the profits created from their likeness etc. This is just so far out of hand at this point.

VR today probably offers one of the best value-for-price propositions out there. The Quest 3 is the ultimate arcade machine. I see this current generation of VR as having a similar position and value proposition to Sony's PSP back in its day.
I was sweating bullets worried I would go a Wednesday morning without LV1 links with friends. Thank the gods!
