    Kool! Agrees with everything said! My big saw is the Johnny 2166 and I do all the meat and potatoes with 60cc Echo/Shindaiwa because they cut like they are 65 cc saws and good social drinkers and a little bit heavier than the Husky or Stihl 60cc, but a whole lot less expensive. If I was in a woodyard, yeah then heavy-er is an asset because the saw will do a lot more work all on it's own; just gotta hang on!

    Hey Chris, I'm a new subscriber. I enjoy watching your videos. In a past video of yours, you were rattling off all the different types of trees that the split wood came from. I'm terrible identifying and remembering tree types. Could you explain how you can identify the different types of wood, even with less clues when split? Thanks, Chad

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the sub! Check out video#57 where I split a bunch of different kinds for a start. That is a tough lesson to teach by typing I'm still learning after 58 years of working living and playing in the woods. There is color, grain structure and pattern,texture of the wood and bark, smell, weight, splitting pattern.......and lots of variations for same kinds in the base of the tree, trunk and limbs too. Get a book on tree identification first and get out in the woods and start trying to figure it out, it will take a lot of time. I wish you luck!

Then bought a generic 45cc Chinese chainsaw. Now have an 80V chainsaw to keep peace with the neighbors where I live, Echo CS-590, Holzfforma G372xp and G660 clone saws. great collection of saws, that 395 must really sing with that little 24” bar, mine came stock with a 32” from the dealer and it spins it no problem, love it, question for you’s, do you run standard chisel chains or full skip chains? i run nothing but full skip because they really eat ( better hold on tight though), but mainly because they have half the teeth to sharpen, pretty much gonna get a spool of .050 full skip chain and the link machine and put full skip on all my saws very soon, if you don’t run them, try one out, they’re pretty aggressive but half the teeth means half my time at the sharpener.

    Hi Chris - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Very interesting discussion on the merits of different size saws. I'm on a totally lower level of operation now but my go to saw is my 2010 Husky 365 (non XP) with a 20 inch bar and semi chisel chain. It has been utterly reliable with no breakdown or even carb adjustment, even when I was bucking 180 cords a year. All it got was just frequent cleaning and meticulous gas mixes. My newer Husky 555 (non XP) is in the shop at present due to erratic starting, as far as I am concerned due to Autotune. A fabulous saw when going but it will take some convincing to get me to buy another computerised saw. The US models appear to have paper airfilters while Husky saws here have the standard lower profile engine covers.

    Very expensive tailgate, my next saw I want a 572 but at $1250 cad the little 555 will do.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 372 is less and is a great saw too. I used to think my 455 was fine until I ran a 576 years ago and saw the light, small saws waste time cutting and only produce half the wood. Try out a bigger saw, you will see why instantly.

    You should get a 3120 for cutting logs. No need for it but it’ll cut way faster than your 572

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No thanks, I would not want to carry it or pay for it. A 590xp would be nice if husqvarna gets them out soon or a 395 would be more than big enough!

      @@InTheWoodyard get a 395 and send it out to get it ported so it’ll cut faster. You may want to keep the decompression valve though
