if you are in the helmet you hear it even better. If you ever go to Buhurt fight ask if you can put on a helmet and someone can hit it with a halberd or sword LOL😂🤣
This is just a demonstration (more of a practice session with people watching). The tournaments are where it gets really brutal. The hits and collisions are full force and we bring out the really scary weapons
The first step is to locate a team in your area and then they will help you with the rest. Some teams might let you borrow armor and fight right away just to see if it's something you want to do and others might work you in slowly with soft gear. You usually want to buy padding first and then get measurements for armor. We typically get our armor from Ukraine blacksmiths, but they're mostly shut down right now. You'll need to ask around to see who is producing and if it's good quality. If you find someone the same size is you then you might be able to buy their old armor
Can anyone compete who has the proper armor and weapons? Im 56 veteran.. had my hips replaced from a wreck 10 years ago but damn i would love to try this.
Bo is a fantastic fighter and he's older than you. Big John is also a veteran around your age and I know he's fought in at least one event. It all depends on the team and the event. One team might be fine with letting a person borrow gear and go at it while another might require them to condition their body and learn the rules first. One event might have strict rules while another could be very loose and informal. If you can obtain the proper gear and follow the rules then fighting in a public demonstration should be possible
Just out of curiosity what is this known as? Like is this part of HEMA or is this part of something completely different? Also is this accurate to what fights were like back in the era of knights?
I remember a sign naming the event as buhurt, but I don't know if the Legion of Honor made the sign or the fair. There are different rulesets within the sport. My team avoids gap shots because they can cause serious injury, but there are other groups that aim for them. There is a fair amount of accuracy. We use armor and weapons based on designs from the 14th and 15th century, but there are changes to increase safety (like concussion padding in the helmets and heavier armor to reduce injuries). I believe most injuries happen at the knee from the joints being unable to handle the extra 60 to 80 lbs (or more) of gear... there's also heat exhaustion since the temp goes up by about 10 to 15 degrees in gear (that was a huge killer back in the day too)
@@timothyhines6220 interesting, thanks for answering my questions. I found this video completely by accident and next to jousting I feel like these things should be more popular.
@@timothyhines6220 Hope you have a smooth recovery. Are injuries common? Most videos I have watched don’t show many, but it seems like they would happen. Are knee injuries frequent? I am considering the sport but worry about a knee I injured playing football.
We love new fighters or support! If you want to get involved then the first step is finding out what teams are nearby. Springfield Stags and Legion of Honor are in Missouri. The Order of Wrath and Doombringers are in Iowa. The Barbarians are located in Cincinnati. The Sword School is in Omaha etc etc
I'll give you guys credit. Atleast you are actually using real armor and weapons unlike the kids in the park who do this on weekends with sticks and pool floaties.
the steel pan, this is some mordau shit
xD
I am just enjoying the sounds of the metal

That's one of the great things about armoured combat. It's got its own sound effects.
was about to say the same thing.
Men at arms are enjoying the battle.
People are enjoying the battle.
I love that everyone in this video is grinning hard.
It's funny the guy that looked like was getting beat the most was the last one standing 😂😂😂. Love it
th-cam.com/video/8vYFFx4whoE/w-d-xo.html i 'm last
i have never seen these kind of videos before. I knew these kind of events existed but i never knew how FUCKING AGRESSIVE SOME OF THEM ARE

@@timothyhines6220 it would be a more enjoyable video!!! because they knew well how to fight the armored crusader army🇹🇷👍

Marshals! Great job.
Green man got cool movoes
this looks too fun to be real
I don't understand why they wear Brigandines instead of full plate, is it because they're more expensive?
Depending on the person, cost can be a factor. There's also fighting style, weight, mobility, visual preference, etc
I hardly see houndskulls much, cool to see one pop up all of a sudden :0
How do you take part in this and how do you get the armor

@02:03 though
so what happened at the battle of stalingrad?
what camera do you guys use?
I used the Sony A7RII the 1st weekend and the Sony A7SIII the next weekend
Anything can be a weapon if you throw it hard enough including a plunger.

Are you all from the same group/team?
In this video there are fighters from three different teams. I came with Order of Wrath and we brought four fighters
@@timothyhines6220 Awesome!
@@timothyhines6220 Which one are you? Cool video!
I've got a few injuries, so I can't fight right now. The last two surgeries helped some, but I probably have two more before I can fight

The knight of the round frying pan at the beginning 🤣
Looks to me like a bunch of Campbell soup cans going at it 🤣..hmm mmm good
Finally, some actual grappling, not just dudes whacking each other
Oh my God let me in let me in please let me work for you oh sweet Lord

whats the point of hiting when it looks like a game of pushing to win
You can win through pain submission. The hits hurt and it gets hard to move when you're covered in bruises
Siistiä 🤭💓
The first one was like using pan as weapon
HOW DARE YOU THROW THE HOLY PAN !?! it was a free victory with it....
bruh purple got messssed up
fkme,,this is so good....Knighs fight ....bring it ON..
Dude that threw the frying pan plays to much mordhau
This how real men fight
When your combat group has gender hires.

hilarious, americans acting in medieval armour when they never even had a medieval history haha
Their ancestors did depending on where they came from
So?
