2:48 excellent observation, Magy. The bottles gave us a false sense of security, when we saw how the golems can save people but if the participant is killed or grievously injured before breaking the bottle, the golem is useless. 7:15 that was such a cute moment and in a way, expected of Frieren, to have such a simple weak point. 10:20 Frieren vs Frieren with Fern assisting and looking for openings was such an incredible fight, flashy as hell too. A visual spectacle. 12:06 the flashback to Serie and Frieren, discussing Flame and her life, how much she accomplished - it hits you right in the feels when you realize just how much Serie cared for her student. 21:38 now we're starting to see why Frieren said only her and Fern should face her replica, the other mages would just be in the way. 23:30 it's cool how Frieren realized how important it is to take care of Sense's replica, she recognized just how dangerous that one can be. 24:13 speaking of the devil...just like that, she took out two mages. 25:45 Ubel stole the show in episode 26, both with that flashback that revealed more about her past and with the way she defeated Sense's clone without any effort whatsoever. 36:42 Frieren confronting her nemesis, the mimic chest, one more time 😂 42:02 you pronounced her name perfectly, well done! Your discussion has been nothin short of amazing! Thank you for the beautiful reaction ❤
The flashback with Serie and little Flamme in episode 25 never fails to bring tears to my eyes. For me, Serie is the most interesting character in the show. She seems cold and harsh on the outside, but is actually so much deeper. Like when remembering Flamme as a little kid, who she obviously raised like her own 🥲
That was Serie's eulogy to Flamme. She basically gave a funeral speech that reminisced about her memory, and celebrated her achievements in life. Like a proud parent whose child dies before she does.
She's got the "If I say I didn't care, that'll be true, and it will hurt less" mentality. It's one of the ways Serie is still immature. She's scared to accept that she cared for all her students, and not just for their potential as mages.
When Frieren said she didn’t got serious for the past 80 years the first thing that came to my mind is that the last time was probably against the demon king
You're right about Serie. She doesn't mourn the passing of someone like normal people do and that whole flashback and her image of a young Flamme portrays how much she liked or maybe even loved her. I loved the epicness of the Frieren battle. You could see how way beyond her magic is that of the other first class mages and that's proabably because she has an incredible mana reserve, so we're seeing things no other mage of this era can do.
That final attack from Clone Frieren is terrifying. It's been established that normal magic is the translation of thought. But this attack was PURE thought, without going through mana. So it's instant, undetectable, and irresistible. As Fern said "the height of magic". Frieren said she hasn't used it in 80 years, which means that's probably the attack that she used to kill the Demon King. Fern was lucky to survive.
To add, people seem to think of Ubel as this "unintelligent" person but actually her magic is second to purest kind of magic. As it doesn't need imagination. Its probably the reason why the show put Replica Frieren push magic and Ubels Cut magic in the same episode but a lot of people seems to miss that - even me when I first watched it.
I’m alarmist caught up on the Managua and from understanding it’s still not explicitly stated what that spell was but we have some clues. Multiple demons have said they are close to or attempting to reaching “the pinnacle of magic” which we can assume is what Frieren has already achieved, most notably soltair stated that she was attempting to reach the “pinnacle” and Frieren didn’t use that spell against her for some reason. So we can assume it’s something a bit different than “curses” which is what demons use and probably closer to the actual magic that the goddess used. My personal theory is that it’s akin to taping into the very essence/mana stream of the world/universe itself. Controlling the very essence of reality itself if you will, and that’s why it’s undetectable. Also if you notice during the flashback when flamme first found Frieren , the general that Frieren killed looked like he had been slammed into the wall with a big trail leading to his point of impact. So Frieren may have known this spell since before she even met flamme. Or it could be something flamme taught her in preparation for a fight with the demon king and perhaps serei one day. Because while serei may have more mana than Frieren (maybe) Frieren and flamme don’t seem like the type to not cool up plans for a possible outcome /battle with her. And remember nana isn’t everything, all the people Frieren has lost to had less mana than her .
@@pr0x1madigital Actually her way does not need intelligence as it works almost like an instinct. Pure imagination without common sence restrictions. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying she is unintelligent.
my theory on that last attack from the clone is that Frieren can use magic in it's purest form, without using mana, by bending magic in her imagination (that's why it was just something simple, like pushing something or someone away). It sounds like normal mages need some kind of spell to use magic, as well as the mana to use the spell and control, which is why a lot of mages use staves, to help with controlling their mana. But the magic the clone used at the end didn't use mana, so Fern couldn't recognize it as magic. Quite interesting, if you think about magic as a force of nature and spells as the technique to use that law, but humans don't know the difference between magic and spells. It's synonymous for them.
Fortunately Sense's replica is a pacifist also, so it just injured Edel, Lawine, and Richter, allowing them to use their escape golems when it could have easily killed them instead. It was created to protect the Spiegel, so driving people out of the tomb would let it do what it was created to do and still be a pacifist. I think that's why Sense went with them. She knew about the Spiegel and assumed her replica would be the final boss who could be defeated if enough people worked together, and if they failed they would be injured and forced to flee, but would live. She just didn't realize that Frieren's clone would be the final boss, not hers.
You can see as well the different color on zoltraak from frieren clone which is the same color the demons use to kill humans, while frieren uses white zoltraak
30:46 that's a pretty common troupe esp for Shounen themed anime (the rock, paper, scissors logic), though it's hardly ever outright stated like in Frieren. But it's a common theme you see over the years.
Knowing she has a weakness and being able to take advantage of it are two different things. She's lost 11 times in her whole life. There are very few who could take advantage of her split-second weakness
Serious Series: Serious Stare. Alternative title: Mommy? As for the actual attack, if magic is limited by your imagination, what's to stop a mage of sufficient willpower and imagination from imagining that magic is entirely under their control? No staff, no magic circles, merely thinking is enough to cause the natural mana in the environment to act and attack. Just what I think would be one of the possible interpretations, mind!
We really need to know how the fight against the Demon Lord went in full detail... like all of the party had to go beyond their limits to defeating him...
You gonna miss this series, then you should see the movie "Maquia", it going to give you some same vibes, but also make you cry a lot... is in MAX at least on my country.

You are correct that’s exactly who it is. I actually give him respect for lasting that long on his own

The Journey to Ende Continues.
Serie is such a Tsundere. She says she would never. But she literally is running the human's magic association right now.

Ubel is also the most popular in Japan.
