Proving price gouging is difficult under the best of circumstances. Several major retailers are under investigation by the FTC. For the last 3 years the corporations insisted they had to increase prices due to covid supply interruptions. This has just recently been proven false by the FTC.

Energy costs are up. Rents have gone up. It's gonna cost me more now to produce a product than it did a few years ago. That cost isn't written as a loss to my company. The cost is passed on to the consumer. I know it's easy to blame companies but this administration needs to examine its policies and see where they've helped drive up costs.
@DJdext so producing more domestic energy than ever before in any countries history is a bad policy? Did you know that US manufacturing has skyrocketed under Biden. Did you know that we currently produce more oil per day than several countries combined and more than double the next closest producer which is Russia? If costs are increasing soooo much then how come all these major retailers reported record profits? They used the money to buy back stock options giving those profits to investors instead of lowering costs. Similar to the PBMs who've been charging us 10x the amount the drugs cost to manufacture. Don't believe me? Watch the congressional hearings. Things are being done. But the wheels of Justice turn slowly. Or not at all if DJT gets elected.
@@DJdext the corporation are driving cost, that is all. corporations want trumps tax cuts, so to sway voters they have driven prices up under the democratic presidency. trump tax cuts give them more profits, they would then reduce prices from the price gauged levels down claming to lower cost, while still keep cost higher than the were before. This has always been the playbook and exactly why its always under republican presidency’s that we go into recessions
I think we can consider R&D grants given to Pharma , which is paid by govt. That same Pharma then charges the consumer regardless, much higher prices.

I am in awe of how both Kamala and Biden are appraising those around them. The type of people who get ahead by cooperating with others and being humble and respectful towards others, not pushing others down for own gain. And though I can't imagine rising to the top without any thirst of power or fighting to win, I also cannot imagine them fighting to get this bill passed, and fighting of republicans trying to stop affordable care, if they didn't actually care. They have empathy for the less fortunate. In Norway where I'm from I learned when I was about 20 years old, that in USA people get poor from being sick, because they have to pay big money for hospital care, or they have to have insurances that costs. I was completely baffled, as I thought it was only in very poor countries that you didn't get medical help for free or a low affordable fee. It still baffles me, 20 years later, to follow the election and seing things I take for granted is still an issue over there. Biden is obviously too old for this job the next coming years, he is slowing down and won't be able to keep up. But this speech were clear-headed enough not to fear he's suffering from dementia and can't rule. He will go out with dignity. As someone who has fought for the dignity of men and women of all income levels and different suppressed groups of society his whole life, it is so well deserved. Thank you, Joe! ❤💙💙💙👌

Biden introduced the Inflation Reduction Act bill on August 16, 2022. - The bill passed 220-207 with all Democrats voting in favor and Republicans unified in opposition - just days after the Senate also passed the bill with ONLY Democratic votes. NOT ONE republican backed the bill to save us money AS USUAL! Biden then went into negotiations with big Pharma who of course didn't want to give up all the money they've been grifting from the American public so it took time for Biden to agree to the new, lower prices. Price gouging of pharmaceutical drugs makes no sense to me; if you as a company charge medications so much that many potential customers can't afford them, then how are you going to make money off those medications in the long-term with only the wealthy top percentage of the population being able to afford them? I think The U.S. Federal Government needs to have some form of price control to ensure that we don't pay an absurd amount for prescriptions compared to other developed countries. If a bottle of pills in say Germany costs $6.00, that same bottle of pills shouldn't cost more then 50% extra here in The U.S., which would be $9.00 in this case. I'm not saying pharmaceutical companies don't deserve to make profit for their research & development, but they shouldn't be able to charge insane prices for their life saving products that most uninsured Americans can't afford.

It costs 10x less to get cancer drugs from that website than any current insurance company charges. That's why congress is currently investigating PBMs for price gouging.

The reason why drug prices are out of control is due to “Private ‘For-Profit’ Insurance” combined with the rule outlawing the US Government Medicare program from negotiating lower drug prices, concessions left first created by George W’s and then continued by Obama’s capitulation to the pharmaceutical industry. The Pharmaceutical lobby is too powerful and has too much control over both the democrat and republican parties.
