Very please to see that you really respect the origins of the machines you are restoring. It's a real joy to see all of the proper original components brought back to life and not try to wing it with new contemporary parts. Great job :)
Thanks for saving these great bikes and returning them to near new - and making them better than many new bikes sold today One suggestion - stick to non- aero brake levers so they are Eroica ready?
Thanks for watching and the comment, I am aware of the pre 1987 rules but cannot understand why the rule on aero levers is in there. The aero levers first started hitting these bikes in 1984 / 1985 maybe even earlier, so I am a little confused why the rules state non. For one event I feel that keeping these bikes original is more important. Maybe not so much with this example but with such models like the Peugeot PH12 or the Raleigh Quaser which had aero levers fitted. I feel these models should be part of such event because it they was pre 87 and original. Sorry for going on about the ruling, it makes no sense unless they brought the 87 rule back a few years pre aero levers. If you know why it was made so i'd love to know. Thanks for the comment it would make a good debate i'm sure. Andy
Just checked the Peugeot PH12 was released in 1982 with Aero Levers and the Raleigh Quasar 1984 both in the sales brochure with aero levers. The ruling makes no sense if they promote keeping these bikes original. Maybe it is to much to Police which bikes should have them on and which ones do not??? Who knows. Thanks Andy
BikeIt UK - agreed, I just thought your buyers might want to enter Eroica for some strange reason my cyclo-cross bike is not allowed, oh well, I just have to call it a 1961 touring bike
Hi thanks for watching I have dedicated videos to crankset removal and bottom bracket servicing. I do need to complete a video on setting gears up. I hope you manage to find the videos have a look on our website www.bikeituk.club or check out the TH-cam page 👍🚲 I hope this helps all the best Andy
@@BikeItUK Andy, Thank you. Maybe I was unclear on my comment. As many of your viewers have restored dozens of vintage bikes, we'd like to hear your perspective on future builds, particularly in terms of threading standards, drivetrain trade-off, etc. in your future videos. Often, these models aren't found elsewhere, so your videos could serve as technical references. I hope that you understand. OG
I once got to buy (I was18) a garage Queen Schwinn paramount p15 campag 15-speed for only $300 in 1980 (it was a 1974 model with original MSRP $675) at a time when they retailed for $900+. I really appreciate your efforts to do these restorations affordably so the next owner can get the same fantastic sort of purchase experience, it was a thrill for me...
+That 70's Schwinn Vintage Bike Channel Thanks for the comment pal, bit of an usual one, this one. I found it great digging down and finding out about the Vanheste cycling name. Keep up the great work on your channel all the best Andy

I've always wondered if you mix the paint you use yourself or do you just try to get the color to match as close as you can with premixed paint? Thanks.
+wahwah1013 hi thanks for watching! I generally do not mix my own paint. However for my Raleigh Corsa I kept I had this colour matched and mixed it just works out a lot more money for the paint. All the best Andy
Any recomendations on where to get vintage style wheels for bicycles in the UK? I'm restoring a Dawes Galaxy and need a new wheelset but can't seem to find any that catch my eye. Thanks
+Kieran Winters hello and thanks for watching. To be honest most of my purchases are done through eBay. It can take time if you have a certain wheel in mind. But I have managed to buy many a wheel set that have been brand new but old stock. Cheers Andy
Am running out of words to say great video once more, i love the blue in your colors all parts complement each other , very good taste , thank you for sharing :) cheers, will email you a question i have about my latest frame i got hold off last week.
+Nauj Aral Hi you, hope all is well. Yes I feel it turned out well. Not checked my mail as yet but not a problem another project for you...so very addictive!

Great Video as always Andy. Do you have or might consider doing a video on the best way to remove or fill dents in a frame, Just got hold of an old Raleigh Record Sprint that has a few, Keep up the good work mate videos much appreciated.
Hi Tony, yes I should do a video on this and ill make note. In the meantime the link I have added is to a such video, this guys worth a follow goes into great detail I hope that this helps. All the best Andy th-cam.com/video/JTDeXG0kweA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for replying to me! Do you mean by "take the fork with me to the store"? If not what does take the folks with me to the store? I know that some places do color scans but they need a flat 1x1inch surface to scan. I am restoring a Peugeot PSV-10 and your videos help a lot!
To be honest if you are just matching up for the odd spot touch up I wouldn't worry to much. In the past If I have had to match up I have taken the frame and the lads at the store have colour matched using colour Charts against the paint. Thanks Andy
+Terrence Rettich hi yes sorry cold weathers slowed me down a little. I'm just about to start a build on a new project so should be to long promise. Hope all well with you cheers Andy
This bike has the perfect length of rear brake cable !!! Also it has the long indexed shifting derailleur cabling, but golden arrow is not indexed so mech cable should be much shorter...
Gracias por mirar y su apoyo. Estoy seguro de que la mayoría tiene subtítulos en español disponibles en el menú desplegable del reproductor. Espero que esto ayude a Andy

Greetings Andy! Incredible work, you've inspired me to work on some bikes myself! Quick question, what paint do you use to touch up your frames? Cheers!
+Alex Faria hi firstly thanks for watching, and your comment. For touching up I just use enamel modelling paint I have done a video on restoring the frame. Hope this helps all the best Andy
+scott woolworth thanks for watching, I'll just generally take the folks with me. If it's only for small areas you can generally get away without an exact match. Hope this helps Andy
Hi Andy, Merry Xmas from The Peak District. What's the rule on setting up the bar angle on vintage drops and positioning Weinmann levers? Can't get it right. There's Velo a Rule 46 but makes no sense! Keep up the hard work!
+gary2700 Hi there love the Peak District I cycle down the Goyt Valley most weeks! Merry Christmas to you also, regarding the drops. I level the horizontal part of the bars to the top bar so they are parallel. The levers I will level out on the top keep it n line with the bars. You can also get a good idea from the vintage brochures to how they should look. I hope this helps all the best Andy
Hey Andy, great restoration as always. Is it just me or are the "n" and "h" in the Vanheste lettering on the downtube look just a little rough on the edges next to each other? It's probably tough to restore damaged decals like this. I have a GT Forte Titanium road bike from the 1990's and all of the decals on the frame are really scraped up and rough looking with many pieces missing. I tried contacting a guy on Ebay who advertised to specialize in recreating decals but he never seemed to be able to reliably reply to my questions about remaking the Forte ones for my bike so I finally gave up on that. I did investigate having an artist airbrush the lettering back on but was not sure of the quality.
+Jensen Healey hi thanks for the on going support. Yes these decals was harder to obtain, regarding your GT ones have you had a look on the website I plug in the Kirk Precision Video he also makes them up on request and sends world war. All the best Andy
Hi thanks for tuning in and watching! Regarding your question I’ve had a couple of builds I didn’t make on but generally I do. The amount Varys a lot depending on what needs replacing what can just be cleaned, and how rare the bike is and what you got it for.
Sounds a nice bike 🚲 I really enjoyed the History of the Vanheste I can not heard of the brand until I got the bike. I love finding the history out. Thanks for the comment and sharing all the very best Andy
BikeIt UK Yh nice vid!!! I always enjoy the part where you ride the bikes 😊😊 Have you got any future plans on doing another peugeot restoration that is different from the other models that you have restored?
Not as yet, I have a Claud butler, Raleigh and a Graham Weigh waiting in the garage at the moment, I wouldn't mind a Peugeot Vitus 979 frame to do. Its just finding them at not silly money. Cheers Andy
Man i love how joyful you approach all your projects! Really heartwarming to watch!

What an awesome transformation. It looked a bit rough&dodgy with the flat bars but now it looks 10 out of 10 superb.
Thanks so much for the support! I get real pleasure in trying to preserve these bikes 🚲and the history. All the best Andy
