This is basically day vs night makeup. During the day you want to look soft and natural. At night you want to look sexy and sultry.

The words "sexy and sultry" have been used for many years to describe a *style of makeup* a person does specifically for nighttime, just like "soft and natural" are words that have been used for many years to describe a *style of makeup* specifically for daytime. Night makeup is usually darker and often harsher and more eye-catching hence why it's usually referred to as more "sultry" and "sexy" as opposed to the soft, subtle, and natural day makeup.
So what I meant was that during the day your natural features are already accentuated because of the natural light so you don't need to accentuate your features to look "sexy". At night you accentuate those features to look sexier because of the lack of natural light.

As a South Indian, not all indians do this make up....some does in another way while others do another...these are some make ups that we see in serials or in North.. In kerala, as I've seen in my area, everyone's makeup is light, and simple and not too dark. ( no hate)
