    It’s all about the setup of the fight. Many don’t know but even in boxing you have forearm blocks especially useful against the jab in an orthodox vs orthodox stance or south paw vs south paw stance. Forearm block when opponent jabs followed by right cross or overhand right, pivot right, shift right, or roll right off the cross. Or you can pivot right off the opponents jab with your left forearm block. Follow with cross.

    • @masterwong101
      @masterwong101  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, integrating Master Wong's background and motto into this context would enhance the narrative by emphasizing the effectiveness of traditional blocks in diverse combat scenarios. Understanding the setup and utilizing forearm blocks against jabs illustrates the practicality and adaptability of martial arts techniques in real-world fights.

    Excellent stuff! I have a friend who had a traumatic experience on public transit and said he's worried he'll just shell up and not know what to do if someone starts punching at him. I have given him some training but he's still a little shaky. Next session, I will incorporate these techniques. If he's going to shell up, at least he can cover in these ways and counter attack. Good for me to practice too

    Master Wong...you are awesome and thank you for the great warrior spirit you bring to the table. Someone asked about defending straight [center-line attacks] vs. the hook-type. To me, the center-line elbow/forearm in example one is an awesome way to smash an opponent's fist when evasion is going to be too late. Do you agree??!!

    • @masterwong101
      @masterwong101  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! Thank you for your kind words; it’s great to see your enthusiasm for the warrior spirit in our training! Regarding your point about defending against center-line attacks, I absolutely agree. The center-line elbow/forearm technique is indeed an effective method for countering such attacks, and it showcases the principles of precision and timing that are essential in martial arts.
      Master Chien always emphasized that true mastery comes from discipline and understanding the flow of energy in combat, which directly applies here. Remember, ‘Train hard, live clean, and don’t let anyone bully you.’ For more detailed insights on self-defense techniques, check out our website at www.wingchunmaster.tv/.

    This won't work for an attacker who is a martial artist or boxer. They throw straight punches .

      Absolutely, understanding different attackers' styles is crucial. Master Wong's approach integrates adaptability and situational awareness. Against skilled opponents like martial artists or boxers, we emphasize fluidity and quick counters, blending defensive blocks with strategic positioning to neutralize their techniques effectively.
