      Greetings Curtis :) What does SwedenBorg say about homosexuality, why some people have / chose that orientation, why did they end up that way? Is it a curse from another life time where they mistreated that orientation and then ended up that way themselves? What is the origin of homosexuality - can it be"cured"? What is the purpose of homosexuality ? If some one has found their "soul mate" as another male and they stay together for all their lives as a loyal monogamous relationship - will they still go to hell? If their union helps - inspires them to be more God conscious are their sins less ? what is the destiny in the afterlife for people with homosexual tendencies ? if they loved God but were homosexuals will they still go to hell ?

    Swedenborg's explanations and explorations of both the Bible and Spirituality on a whole make the most sense of any I have studied. Every time I read, watch or listen I exit with a new feeling of clarity and understanding, as well as determination. The continuation of his work and message is vital. In this current climate of the world, where self love is dominant in so many's lives, it is important to be strong, stay grounded and remember your true self will be unveiled when your love is focused on that of the world and the Lord!

    I think it's beautiful to know that we become more ourselves the closer we get to God. In that our individual relationship with God makes us who we really are as a person or meant to be. It takes the pressure off of ourselves to not keep obsessing who we are. Like a flower we grow and bloom into our own in God. In my opinion I think our purpose is to always stay connect to God while staying connected to each other. The soil for God to cultivate a beautiful garden is us. In that garden will be many different beautiful flowers, fruits and vegetables etc. All nourishing, unique and bursting with life. That's the power of God and His glory for all of us. And that again to me is beautiful!

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sure agree with you! It's incredibly beautiful and exciting to realize that the closer we get to God, the more we will also become our unique, true selves. God loves variety, and has created us with infinite variety! And I love how you have made the point that therefore, we do not have to keep worrying and obsessing about who we really are. That will unfold naturally as we work on growing closer to God.

      @@offTheLeftEye ,
      Indeed... I used that term because years ago before my mom passed. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. When she went to see her oncologist for a F/U. The oncologist asked how she was doing. And she told him... I'm doing good... I'm growing a rose garden in my mind. As I was writing the above earlier this morning, and what my mom said to her oncologist popped in my head. So I thought I would use that analogy. She would also tell us and wrote... Don't expect be surprised on on a sticky note and put it on my sister's kitchen cabinet... Lol, something she did whenever my sister would get impatient about things. Yes, there are many different ways we could describe a situation. And it's probably one of God's way He communicates to us to how we personally are or how we would express ourselves... Like in our own style. It's all amazing to me how God will reach us to speak in our own individual styles. Because we are all unique and He would do whatever it takes to reach us or care for us as a parent would for their child. 🙏😇🌹

    This entire program just hit dead center with me and made me understand myself even more and the right direction I am heading. Yes, I have felt that freedom coming closer to God and didn't understand it or, was even a little confused by that feeling. And the temptations and slavery provided by evil spirits is connected to the Ego. I felt that in my ego yesterday in wanting to think poorly of a co-worker for him just doing his job. But I was aware of that feeling and its connection to the ego and let it go as it was counteractive in my relationship with God. Thank you All so much for the divine wisdom you bring to us all. Loved this show and topic, it so resonated with me as well. What resonates with you or inspires you is who you really are. For some come to know this sooner in life and some later in life. There is no right or wrong as there is truth in every belief or how we come to God. I'm always questioning myself... Am I doing right, am I doing what I'm suppose in this life, am I doing all I can for others etc. Some days I keep wondering what my purpose is or if I'm doing it and don't know it. Sometimes I confuse myself and have to stop and let go and let God lead me. Because when you think you are, your not! Thank you for this video, live and blessings.😇🙏🌺

    I learned tonight what the Scripture Matt 25:25 "I went and hid my talent in the earth" means. I guess it could mean "any" talent, but it opened up a whole new revelation to me abt hiding the Holy Ghost within myself. I got out of the habit of praying in tongues. I read and listen to scriptures and other's testimony but my own talent has been "hidden in the earth" and I am so thankful that the Lord is so mindful of my life and what I need. My old pastor use to preach " Read and pray and talk in tongues every day". And over time I let that saying go and unnoticed. But tonight the Lord told me where I am coming up short. As I was praying in the Holy Ghost (something I do not do everyday, even rarely) that Scripture came to me "And I hid it in the earth". And I felt that I should share it with all of you, after all we are all part of the Church. Thanks for listening to me. These tongues is what makes and keeps you clean.

    I have found meditation to be a good vehicle to find your true self. There is something about sitting quietly with your eyes closed that allows the Lord to communicate with you in wordless ways and allow you to find the important things in his view. Proper meditation strengthens your awareness, ability to concentrate and lengthens your attention span. Not to take from anything in the broadcast because that is all good too. Thanks Curtis keep up the good work.

    Been having stories, visions and experiences of God, Jesus, angels and heaven since birth and started sharing those when i developed the ability to speak even before my parents could teach me scriptural context. I am now 18 years old, i remember these by heart but also by account of my parents witnissing me then and telling me now. I grew up with scripture yet alot of concepts in the bible did not click with me when taken literally. I always had this sense of i am overlooking something, this is not right, i did not experience that. When i found this channel and started watching videos, is when i found out i was right. Swedenborg's experiences are almost identical if not supplemtary to my own experience all the while staying with me on the scriptural ground on which every we sensed is based. I deeply thank you for helping me understand, you helped me understand everything and helped me clarify and fit many puzzle pieces. Again with great love, appreciation and respect for your work on Swedenborg's teaching. Thank you! 😊

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jamie, here are a few passages about the nature of children from Swedenborg's teachings:
      "...good reigns in anyone's children at first. Indeed they are in a state of innocence, and a state of love towards their parents or nursemaid, and a state of mutual charity towards playmates, so that good is the firstborn with everyone. This good which is fostered in this state within a person when he is a small child remains with him, for whatever is instilled in infancy acquires life to itself; and because it remains it becomes the good of life. Indeed if a person were devoid of such good as he has had with him from earliest childhood he would not be human but would be more savage than any wild animal of the forest."
      "An atmosphere of innocence flows into little children, and through them into the parents so as to affect them. People know that little children are embodiments of innocence, but they do not know that their innocence flows in from the Lord. It flows in from the Lord because He is the essence of innocence, as said just above, and nothing can flow in - because it cannot exist - except from its first origin, which is the very essence of it.
      However, we will say briefly what the nature of the innocence of early childhood is which affects parents. It radiates from the little children's faces, from some of the movements they make, and from their first speech, and so affects them.
      Little children have this innocence, because they do not think from anything interior; for they do not yet know what is good and evil, and true and false, so as to think in accordance with them. Therefore they do not have any prudence of their own, nor any design from a deliberate motive, thus are without any purpose for evil. They do not have a character acquired from love of self and the world. They do not credit anything to themselves. All that they receive they attribute to their parents. They are content with the little things they are given as gifts. They do not worry about their food and clothing, and are not anxious about the future. They do not pay regard to the world and covet many things on account of it. They love their parents, their nursemaids, and their little companions, and play with them in a state of innocence. They allow themselves to be guided; they listen and obey.
      Such is the innocence of early childhood, which occasions the love called storge."

    I have just discovered you, Curtis. And, I came upon you in concert with Dr. Rosen. I am so impressed by the way in which you deliver the thoughts and teachings of Swedenborg! I have a question for you. I am 70 years young and, as I move along my path, I find that I love people as much as I always have; BUT, I like them less and less. I feel deeply for what people are going through and I would and will do anything in my power to help and encourage them. I would never want anyone to feel LOST and ALONE. However, to spend any length of time with people has become all but unbearable......the fact is that, although I love them, I often do not LIKE them. This has become a real dilemma for me! Thoughts?
    I just listened to Swedenborg's words about instinctively finding like spirits with which to exist in harmony. I currently exist with a group that does not feel like "home" at all! What am I doing wrong?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello Mary! So glad that you found us! It's great to hear that you're enjoying the presentation as well. Thanks for being willing to share a little of what you're going through here. It must be difficult to, despite still caring about people, find yourself not really enjoying their presence up close.
      "What am I doing wrong?"--probably nothing! What I mean is, all of the factors that go into how we feel about people and situations are so complex. It could be that there are things others are doing that makes it very hard (if not impossible) to feel good about them and being around them consistently. It could be a compatibility issue, or things that are going on in other parts of our lives that are hampering that connection. We could have ego issues, they could have ego issues, or both! It's just hard to isolate what exactly we could or should be doing differently to change how we feel about people. It could be a phase too, Swedenborg talks about us going through the spiritual equivalents of winter and of night where we're less connected to love, but we come back around.
      "I currently exist with a group that does not feel like "home" at all!"--I think a lot of people find themselves isolated or not feeling at home even among people in this world. The spiritual world that Swedenborg describes has some similarities to this one, but some major differences too--including that here, who we are inside really doesn't dictate the kind of people we're surrounded by. And it may not be until the next life when we're really freed from our lower level ways of thinking that we can truly feel a perpetual warmth toward all.
      Something that's helpful might be to just take some time when you're alone to focus on the good things about those people. Imagine them without the qualities that make them hard to be around--as if they were their best selves. I find that helps me keep some warmth toward them in my mind, even if actual interactions with them at this point make things hard.
      Also, don't be too hard on yourself! As I said, I don't think it's something we really have that much control over. That said, we did a show a while back with a few other practical tips you might find helpful: th-cam.com/video/pl7s8kiLrhE/w-d-xo.html
      Again, thanks so much for taking the time to write and share your story!
      -Curtis

    I find the statement “how to find your true self” intriguing because I think who needs to be found is us .. our true self is not lost to be found. We are the ones who are lost .. became forgetful.. to me if I find me first then that only means I find my true self.. the part of me I forgot it exists. No where do I need to search for my true self.. because I Am that True self .. the sleeping giant deep inside my Heart ❤️
    “Bright but hidden, the Self dwells in the Heart.
    Everything that moves and breathes lives in the Self. He is the source of love and can only be found with real and pure love, but not with thought.
    The Lord of Love is the goal for our lives. Walk this spiritual path and find Him.

    I have watched up to part three so far. I look forward to watching the rest tomorrow. Here is what I think so far: I recently researched and wrote about the inner and outer selves in my essay. So I found this video particularly interesting to watch. Sigmund Freud's analogy of an iceberg may have been inspired by Swedenborg. The bottom layer of the iceberg represents the hidden unconscious and is much larger because it contains more mental contents such as wishes, desires, motives, etc. Interestingly the satanic aspects that Swedenborg mentions may be related to the negative contents of Freud's iceberg theory such as irrational thoughts and violent motives. I agree, we have both aspects of good and evil, but we keep them hidden because they conflict with society's conventions of living in harmony with others. Plato also believed in the inner and outer selves, which Swedenborg was blessed to access and write about. However, after Swedenborg, it seems Kant received more recognition than Swedenborg. On the other hand babies under five months appear very free and untroubled because they are not born with the knowledge they develop later through experiences with stimuli in their environment which forms their outer self with rules and conventions of society. An example is the development of language, which starts through sounds and develops into emotions and structures of vocabulary. I think Swedenborg describes the partly aware subconscious state when he says that we take as much as we need from the unconscious, e.g. through dreams, therapy, and other ways of accessing the contents of the unconscious mind.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad you found this episode relevant to your current research on the inner and outer selves! Thank you for sharing your reflections, Murtaza. The line in your comment that struck me the most was this one: "...which Swedenborg was blessed to access and write about." Yes! Blessed to access, and blessed to write about. Blessed with willingness from God to use for the good and hope of all, even two hundred years into the future.

      @@offTheLeftEye As for part 3 'Purpose of Identity' and Part 4 'Celestial Ecosystem': Maybe clues to our dominant love can also be found in our interests and passions and sensory modalities, learning styles, and preferences of communication that indicate how we learn, communicate and get along best with others. I think such aspects drive the currents you speak of or tsunami in our life, like agreements and disagreements. I am currently trying to let go of aspects of my past which I feel do me no good spiritually, but I find it difficult to let go of them because I am very attached to the external factors based on approval from others to please myself. To solve this, I feel I need to connect more with spiritually centred people. Not only that, but I feel more united in love with others in spiritual matters rather than intrinsic aspects of myself. As for part 5 ', You Make Me': Getting closer to God by letting go of our ego aspects is something I have also experienced. Doing so made me feel grounded, contented, and peaceful inside as I have never felt before. For me, It's like a moment of relaxation in the late afternoon when I close the curtains and the golden glow of the sun pierces through into the living room to create shades on the walls. In such a moment, life slows down and worries disappear. As for your answer about the blood moon. I was fortunate to see the blood moon in the park. It looked as though the giant moon had landed on earth and I could walk right into it. It was truly a mesmerizing sight like I have never witnessed before.

I think of the angels as the big giant things with wings that watch over us .But just to clarify so I know what he means. • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words, DebbieJo! Swedenborg uses the word "angels" to mean people who have evolved all the way into the level of heaven, and he uses the word "spirits" to mean anyone who has crossed over into the spiritual realm. An "evil spirit" is someone who has chosen hell. A "spirit" is someone still in the world of spirits in between. An "angelic spirit" is someone in the world of spirits in between who is working on developing into an angel.

    I was astonished to learn that our inner self is like an ocean or park compared to the outer self which only takes a small amount for what it needs to exist. So according to Swedenborg, our inner self is much vaster. .....Yes, that makes sense. The idea that the whole universe is limited. I guess we are only experiencing a very small amount through the “focused consciousness” of the 5 senses that God gave to us. ❤️😊👍🏻

    The dualism of worlds : are we ourselves not in body symbolic of both the mind and spirit that defines us; the will to enquiry that sees us question all things save the self that is of the source?
    Should it be any less of a miracle to us that a caterpillar must first digest itself - although certain cells remain - before returning as a moth?
    If the more we learn the more amazing we become, and the more we love the more accepting, why then do we choose to diminish our selves through doubting our own divinity?

      Hi +didi pyrrha! That's actually a track that was donated to us by someone who enjoys the show. It's not available anywhere online it its entirety. We do use it at length in this episode: th-cam.com/video/Qaqd9Fhsxpg/w-d-xo.html
      Although it's mainly used behind interviews, so I don't know if that will really give you the listening experience you're looking for. Sorry about that!

    thanks. i was pondering on the material that you have presented. on my limited comprehension, is it correct that the true self might be found only after life (i.e death) for those who are "unlucky" in this life? at the meantime, are we supposed to endure though if life is trying and enduring? thanks, Crtius.

      +Andrea Firth Hello! It came from a spiritual experience reported by Swedenborg. He said that it seemed like a covering was peeled off his left eye, giving him the use of spiritual sight.

      ***** In general, the left eye had to do with intellectual things. Actually there's a tool that lets you search his writings here:newchristianbiblestudy.org/quick-search
      if you enter "left eye", you should be able to see all of the places it comes up. Hope you find what you're looking for!

      +offTheLeftEye Thank you , yes I did find what I hoped for ..a confirmation about some experiences I have of my own , I found it in Swedenborg's spiritual experiences #5059 concerning 'Acute Pain' in the left eye caused by those away from God , it is exactly describing something I have been 'battling' , and just as Swedenborg writes , I have found 'them' out , Thank You for your help Curtis 🌸🗡
