I have the mini blaster. I found it needs about 100 psi to work best. The flow is just bad. It is either on or off.

Your air fittings are setup wrong. The male fitting should be on the tool and the female fitting should be on the compressor. Now that won't fix the "sand blaster" but it will allow you to change air tools properly and more safely.
