      Hey Marcy on the 19th of December 2020 ( like yesterday) 👌 I found this video. I started to sew for the first time in August of this year so I'm very new using a sewing machine I tried this mask and it came out pretty good thanks thanks for making sewing fun I love you and Rob for keeping this tutorial as fun and entertaining .I subscribed so I'll be looking at all your other videos 😉. I'm still trying to get the measurements and cutting down pack . This mask came out very neat I sent a picture to my friends and they want one lol 😆. Love your style, your crazy, your vibe and your technique.
      Please in you future videos can you say what type / kind of fabric you use so I can get an idea what to buy . Thanks 😊👍

      I'm sorry but I'm confused. I took a piece of printer paper and followed your video for the pattern. But after I fold and measure 4 1/4 in on the bottom your piece is a lot smaller. Am I using the wrong paper yours seems smaller to start with!?.? Help please Could you appease me and just measure that brown piece again??? Its not working for me...I'm sooo 😥

      @@donnawilliamson7393 I used a piece of printer paper (8.5 x 11) and folded it long ways first then short ways. You should make your first mark over by4.5in and then from there make the second mark. If it helps, I watched that part twice.

    I've tried several (many) different patterns. I'm an experienced sewer and I would RECOMMEND THIS PATTERN to ANY BEGINNER, with a sewing machine or just using an old fashioned needle and thread. I keep coming back to this pattern because it is the EASIEST AND FASTEST TO CONSTRUCT once all the pieces are cut. (1) No difficult to maneuver curved sewing lines; (2) No extra measurements needed during construction; (3) No darts; (4) it is the easiest to cut and construct ASSEMBLY-LINE FASHION when making lots and lots of masks for donation. Thanks so much. Your video is step-by-step easy to follow and you, especially, are fun to watch. Recipients of this pattern are 100% pleased because it is also VERY COMFORTABLE TO WEAR as well as being very attractive. Thank you!!!!!
    Update: Additionally..... your EYEGLASSES DO NOT FOG!!!. Just make sure the wired nose piece fits well on your nose.

    Not only the most entertaining mask-making video, but also the best-fitting and EASIEST mask to sew! Took 10-15 minutes from tracing to tying the elastic. My mom is very particular about the way her masks fit, and this one hits all the marks. (I added a channel in each of the contrast panels for a nose wire and chin wire, respectively.) THANK YOU, MARCY!

  • @alicek412

    Just made this mask for my husband and it is the only one that does not move down his nose when he talks. I've made many many many different patterns for mask - this one fits perfectly. I've made a smaller one for me as instructed in your video - worked for me too! Thank you so much for sharing!
    I really don't like elastic around my ears so I use a 44 inch paracord going through the channels by looping around my neck to the top of my head and adjustable using cord lock toggle. I did adjust the side tabs to be 1.5 inch instead of 1 inch to accommodate the thicker paracord. Thank you again for making this video so fun to watch and the instructions is very clear.

I love how there is virtually no gapping and how they don’t rub on our face but they pull across the nose. This looks like it is more substantial. I prefer around the head vs around the ears but thats an easy mod. Thanks so much for the pattern/tutorial. I will be trying it this weekend. Stay safe!

    • @dorothymasterson57
      @dorothymasterson57 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joanne K-J. Do you think if the 2 outside pieces (in her video - the dark colored fabric) would both be 1” longer w the ends tucked in - the elastic (long enough to fit around head) is inserted and then sewn shut at both ends. Do you think this would work?

      @@dorothymasterson57 I hope that you'll be able to understand what I'm describing. I cut out 2 pieces (main and lining pieces) with the 1" extensions on each side. I did exactly this so that I could insert an "elastic band cord with adjustable buckle" instead of an elastic loop. The problem is that you need the flap (see 10:20 of this 3D video) to cover the nose and chin pieces. What I did, was I folded the lining inside extended piece - inside, then tucked each end of the "elastic band cord" into each corner at an angle (pinned them there), and proceeded to fold the main extended piece like Marcy shows in the video. Wish I could share a photo to show you. I hope this helps.

    I love this video and the pattern is spectacular. I wanted to let you know how I unfussied it a little more. Instead of bias tape for nose wire, I just sewed the wire directly into one of pieces of fabric that is folded - by default is now the nose piece vs the chin piece. I also added a teeny bit of fussiness - First - instead of cutting the long sides of the pattern straight, I followed the curve of a PM2.5 filter I have - not hard to do. I also made a filter pocket by folding the pattern in about 1.25" on each side, cutting another piece (now 5 pieces) of fabric from that shape, double folding and hemming the short edges of that. Then when making the fabric sandwich, I add that to the outside of the liner piece (in your video it would mean flipping the piece over once you've pinned it, and pinning this pocket to the other side with the wrong side down. Hope that makes sense. So now I have a 3-D mask that has the nose wire sewn in, and a filter pocket that fits a PM2.5 filter perfectly! Super happy with how it turned out, and thank you for providing the foundation and an entertaining how-to video!!

    I've been using (kinda) this pattern to make masks for months - to customize the size of mask to fit - measure from the bottom of your chin to the top of the tip of your nose divide by 2 for your mask height and the tip of the nose to the earlobe divide by 2 for your length.

My husband has a big head and a beard and a regal nose--your pattern (with a quarter inch added to height) along with the large flap for nose and chin, finally did the trick. Besides being able to cover his impressive nose and chin, he also appreciates the cheek coverage. So many masks barely go out past the wearer's mouth. He's so happy!

I've been getting all my 'training' on youtube, , and have only made about 25 masks so far. I was looking for something to keep my husbands glasses from fogging up, but the regular duckbill and pleated masks just don't work well for him, even with a metal nose piece.

Output about 50 masks since without the "turnout" nightmare. BTW - I use 10" elastic pulled through a pony bead (then knotted) so the ear pieces are adjustable. That little add-on helps fit the mask with a good seal across different sized people. Again, THANK YOU for your levity and love. :-)
