Small video error: I accidentally left the previewer on the bypassed blue channel settings at the start of the red channel demo. As always, settings are the same between the two units for these comparisons to highlight the differences.
Great video, and killer tones. One thing I'm noticing a lot with Neural DSP is all their models have a characteristic 'low end cut', where Fractal models have 'fuller' lows and low mids. I much prefer the fuller lower end frequencies you get 'naturally/ by default' in the Fractal. I don't own any Fractal products so I don't have first hand experience with it but from all the comparisons I've heard the Fractal models have, what I consider to be, a more 'authentic' lower end. That said, some people may prefer the tonal qualities of the NDSP QC. Keep up the amazing videos!
Interestingly, there is also a low end cut when just recording a DI-track trough the Quad Cortex. I guess, it has to do with the converters or stuff like that. To me, the Quad Cortex feels and sounds subpar compared to the Fractal stuff, Tonex or the NAM.
I think I prefer the lower end of the Fractal and the higher end of the QC for this comparison. Although the QC seemed to almost have a split coil sound on the high end with the blue channel, and I didn't love that.
You could def compensate for the high end on the Fractal by cranking it more, but the low end character is completely different between the two, and not something easily dialed out IMHO.
You are going to want to revisit this once the FM9 gets Cygnus X-3. Running the beta right now on the FX3 and the Stealth has noticeable changes in the low and high end (well, all the amps do really). Tighter and you can get away with running a less aggressive high cut (or none at all).

Thanks for sharing! Definitely agree with how Neural does the low end.

Good stuff. I like the Fractal more. The lows are more open and full, the QC sounds more scooped and thin.
Good video man! :)

@@TheGooseChaseMusic I'm always cranking it, baby!

Would love to see an update now that the Cygnus X-3 has made its way through all units.
Hi,
Would it be possible to download this fm9 preset? Thank you!
Where can i get that IR, and did have to cut low or high cut on it?
York Audio Bogner 4x12, no high or low cuts.
Bro thinks he’s chainsaw man
clickbait thumbnail, meaningless jargon words and annoying uptalk pretty much sums up this video
