The SD-1 just has so much more clarity and punch. The fractal emulation sounds dull by comparison. I have an SD-1 from the 80's. It's a great when I want a less refined sound than what I usually get from my TS-808 clones. Similar vibe but not as smooth sounding.
@@TheGooseChaseMusic Yeah you made it sound better than i ever could which makes me want to play with it again at some point. i do everything in the box these days as it makes editing and recording a bit easier. that being said i may start reamping to the sd1 pedal as part of my process.
I keep doing the same with the metal zone. I can get a good sound from it, but seldom use it. Since they are cheap and plentiful, when I need to get rid of something to make room for another pedal I really want, it's usually one of the first pedals to go... then I miss it and buy one again. I might use them for about a month then not touch it again for 2 years. 😂
later in the video, I make adjustments to specific frequencies, and to the input trim on the amp model, and the volumes match. It's not just the level.
It almost sounds like a leveling issue - the FM9's drive sounds quieter to me. Have to ask - did you level match? I assume that you did and what I'm hearing is the lower 'push' of the drive block
Just realised you answered another question just like this below ;-) Its almost like you have to raise the level on the modeler to match the pedal. I had the same thing with the Helix.
... Because it doesn't have as much of a push like I mentioned? You will add some volume with a higher output drive out front. When I made the adjustments to just the blocks, the volume ends up matching.
Great video! Man! You deserve much more views. Keep going.

SD1 is such a great pedal. there's a reason i keep it around, but i still rarely use it 😂.
It's important to have references to know if a digital thing sounds off.

any boss gt-1000 videos planned for the future?
I've wanted to revisit it! I might move it earlier since you aren't the first to ask about it :)
@@TheGooseChaseMusic boss in underrated. even the old units, specially if you put a IR loader like this: th-cam.com/video/9yKzeQNdrbY/w-d-xo.html
I buy it, I sell it, I buy it I sell it. I was like this for a while until I realized that it is an amazing pedal.

i mean its just lower volume and it prob sits in a mix way better so idk

There’s something about the low mids range, and bass !!

@@guvnafied yup, exactly this.
Fractal is at lower volume 😉
