    Hellboy 2 is one of my favorite comic book movies, up there with Spiderman 2 & A history of violence etc.

    The saddest thing about the original Hellboy movies was the third movie that didn't happen. It was delayed to high hell because the first 2 movies didn't much enough $$$. No wanted to make #3... and the director finally gave up. A new team wanted to make #3 later on but it was too late. So here we are with a reboot on the horizon.

    • @SharpDesign
      @SharpDesign 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, Perlman and Del Toro wanted so bad to make it happen and from what I understand the studio wouldn't let it happen in any way because of the money problem on Hellboy 2

      @@SharpDesign It's a real shame because GDT made the 85 million Hellboy 2 look like it had twice the budget. The man is resourceful.

    • @tsohgallik
      @tsohgallik 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was DelToros fault...he wanted way too much money... anywhere from 80-150 million.... which is ridiculous. Hellboy 2019 was on a 50 million budget and did a great job with the creatures that were in the movie... All it needed was a good Director like DelToro....

    • @tsohgallik
      @tsohgallik 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@80swoodpanel I doubt thats resourceful.... He wanted to burn money making huge sets in Hellboy 2.... Troll Market was clearly the most expensive thing from both movies...

    Hellboy is still my favorite non-MCU superhero film. Guiliermo Del Toro's work is always incredible to watch & Perlman was BORN to play this role. It makes me so sad we will never see any more like it...

    Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy is one of the most important movies, and Big Red himself is one of my most cherish characters of all time. The movies have inspired my own creative works and I owe it all to Del Toro, Pearlman, and Mignola himself for creating my main fictional role model as a kid.

    Ron Perlman said at a Q&A session that John Hurt was born to act, he could do any role justice. He also told a story of how he technically saved Hurt's life while on break from making the movie from pickpockets. I like this movie too

    I first saw Hellboy 2. I'll say that HB2 had the better more sympathetic villain in the elven prince as he wants his people and other fairy tale species to not live underground anymore even if he wants humanity eliminated.

    I think Liz didn’t get her own uniform in the first movie because her character doesn’t want to be part of the agency yet. It make sense that in the second movie she gets her own uniform in the second movie because she has accepted that she is part of the agency. She is no longer a reluctant heroine in the second movie.

    Awesome video ERod, loved it. Though while Rick's name was attached, true credit for Hellboy's makeup goes to Matt Rose and Chad Waters. While Guillermo always wanted Rick, Rick wanted Matt and Chad to have their own show due to the amount of years of great work and loyalty towards him. Sadly Matt passed this January and can't celebrate the 15th anniversary with us. Here's to you, Matt, you were and still are one of the greats.

    Having known nothing about Hellboy before the movie came out, when I saw this movie I immediately fell in love with the character and the Lovecraftian world he exists in and to a lesser extent Mike Mignola's greater body of work.
    I am...less than impressed by what I've seen in the trailers of the new Hellboy adaptation. It looks like they put a lot of work into the movie and I've got nothing against David Harbour as an actor (love his work in Stranger Things), but I think the make-up they've got him in looks half-assed and the over-use of CGI in the movie painfully obvious.
    Much as I love Hellboy, Ron Perlman will always be Hellboy to me and I feel without having Guillermo del Toro's visionary imagery to fall back on as a draw, this new adaptation is probably going to be lackluster and a dead-end for the franchise.

    1:53 - Nazis using sorcery to summon an all-powerful supernatural entity to help them win World War II? Methinks the creators of Return to Castle Wolfenstein (great game, btw) were fans of the Hellboy comics.
    6:55 - Um, Sony's first major successful comic book adaptation was Men in Black, not Spider-Man.

    Ok i have a question for the hellboy comic readers. Does he (Hellboy) have cats in the comic book?
    I ask because in the Del Toro movies Hellboy has like 15 cats. I mean why were there cats in this movie? Mr. Del Toro had to put aside money in the budget for the cats money that could have been put somewhere else. But no he put cats in this big budget comic book movie. There is a strict regulations for animals to be in movies that he could have not had to deal with but he did. So either Mr. Del Toro really like cats or was this a Ron Perlman Idea or both but I just think that is way really weird.
