  • stuck seized corroded rusted seatpost in club fuji 12 speed. 1986 with suntour and sugino components, appears to be all original.
Important! Please be careful if you try anything like this, this is not meant to be an instructional video, only a blog of what I did to get the seat post out of my bike.
If I were to do this on another bike in the future, I would instead use a 5 ton manual chain Hoist, instead of a cable puller / come-a-long, It would be geared to handle further forces without straining, it would also be a lot stronger. Also chains are safer than the cables on a come a long.

This is the fifth video on this "theme" I watch tonight. Good ideas.

Just done a bad one today using a blade clamped between two bits of steel to cut inside. Yes an electric saw would have made it a lot quicker.

Great video! You show many creative ways. But for this one needs a lot of equipment. And destroying the original good paint of the frame is a disadvantage. Cutting and slicing the seat post vertically in pieces with an electric saw is a good method.

Yes, I believe if I had used a 5 ton chain hoist that I could have avoided using the heat from the propane entirely, it would have had greater pulling strength as well as being safer.

I agree, after doing this with the cable puller I decided that if I ever needed to remove a stuck seat post in a bike again I would use a 5 ton chain hoist instead.
