I've been rewatching that docu a few times. Didn't find the elevator's location until today, only now to find this video, showing it's loss. Apparently, John, the person the film follows, retired shortly after it and died in 2011, just a few years before his elevator was torn down.
What an amazing snapshot of a tiny village. The photography was brilliant. I loved everything about this unassuming oil, It was so real, so Canadian, so Wood Mountain. Congratulations to the residents and the people responsible for the film's production. Well done!
Good point. I think the filming time didn't account for getting footage of it, but there's probably room for a whole other NFB short film about that aspect of the Grasslands area.
Lot of memories for my wife Sandra and the rest of the Czernick Family.
NFB did a documentary on the old Sask Wheat Pool elevator in Wood Mountain back in 1981.

Love this story. My Mom grew up there. Petersens
the town may be small but Wood Mountain has a BIG RODEO.....I am surprised the film maker did not take the time to check that out.....

Was thinking that too. The Wood Mountain Rodeo is well known throughout Saskatchewan.
The further away from city’s the better the feel
