- Hey everyone, Noyah here! Second upload took longer than I had expected; but wait no longer! I really hope everyone enjoys this one as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
In this video, I examine Son Goku of Dragon Ball / Dragon Ball Z fame and the argument of whether or not he should be considered a hero. Elements of what a hero is, and other aspects are discussed!

As someone who’s never watched DBZ before, you gave a really clear thesis and good evidence on your arguments. The way you create your videos is awesome and inspirational! I agree with your point and can’t wait to watch future videos!

I think it's important to considering Toriyama probably comes at the question from the perspective of a guy who writes in a specific genre that has a certain traditional view of a hero; even the HERO movie kind of brings up the differences: traditional Japanese (super)heroes are "supposed" to be selfless (goku kind of breaks this by openly enjoying the fight, not necessarily the result of succeeding) and proactive (contrived or not, Goku's opponents and obstacles all tend to run into HIM, he doesn't go looking for them).
Compare... idk, Gohan who, goofiness of Saiyaman aside, straight up dressing up in a costume to help other people's mundane problems purely out of kindness. It's a more traditional view of a hero, even down to Gohan's distaste of a fight for the sake of a fight and only if its a solution to a problem (and being outright disgusted when he did the one infamous time). I think Gohan is closer to the stereotype of a HERO in that sense.
