    Much thanks for your video
In 1959 I worked for Chins Radio Service in Kingston
I was employed to work in Morant Bay and so twice each month I made the journey from Morant Bay to Kingston
The road in those days was single lane and terrible
It is absolutely Amazing to see the new Motorway. I have been following for a long time
But to see the completed project leave me speechless
I was in Jamaica from 2012 to 2019 and I went to Morant Bay - at the time I could not imagine that such a road would exist
My congratulations to the Jamaican Government on the completion of an Absolutely Outstanding Project
And to you for sharing. All my best wishes and continued SUCCESS
(PS). I am now living in THAILAND

I am so glad that we had people with vision to have started building highways in Jamaica. There were so many oppositions when the Highways 2000 project was started but the visionaries kept going and today we have Jamaica almost cover with highway. Most of the opposing people now joined hand and move to complete other sections.

My only regret is that the original plan of a 4 lane highway straight to Port Antonio was changed to only an improvement of the present 2 lanes from Yallas to Port Antonio in addition to the 4 lanes as presented on this excellent video.
It would be much better if the highway did not go through the towns such as Yallas and Morant Bay and the others.

This is an awesome and information bird eye view of the highway🛣 system and communities it passes through. A well plan and taken care of road system is a pride of the people and government 🤔 i hope as this new biggining is taking place each parish will enjoy a thriving and prosperous business together.
With that said, the music is relaxing and the second screen from a year ago was a nice touch🤔 keep up the good work . My Parish is on the rise 😊😊😊😊😊👋

God bless Jamaica and all those with good intentions for Jamaica. This development in St. Thomas was long overdue. I didn't know how beautiful this parish was prior to this. St. Thomas will no longer be the forgotten parish. With its close proximity to Kingston. I think St. Catherine, Kingston & St. Andrew and St. Thomas should now be considered the "tri-parish" area. ..... I do know that Kingston & St. Andrew are two parishes but for commerce they are considered one.

This is going to be a very nice highway when completed. When you show the before video, one can see that CHEC has made some incredible changes to this route. Bro, how long would this drive have taken you before these amazing changes to this route took place? One of the problems with some drivers in JA however, is that they cannot read, so proper signage means little or nothing to them. When this highway is completed, you wonder if some drivers are going to still stop or even park anywhere they feel like. We have to bigup CHEC for the great progress that they're making in the road infrastructure in St. Thomas. Thanks for this great update. I look forward to these updates. Whole heap a thanks.

Just a reminder. The most Honourable Stateman, PM, in addition, to this leg of Jamaica's prosperity which includes safer communities I persistently request that cameras be placed at Roach Gully. I have experienced stones placed across the road by night bandits. Luckly the driver was skilled enough to navigate his way through without having to stop to remove these stones.

    • @mystery5655
      @mystery5655 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Roach Gully has a history of falling rocks which have occasionally partially blocked the roads. During the current construction phase, with the absence of proper signage, the contractors use stones to block sections of the roads to prevent drivers using it. Some drivers will try to go around the blockages by the contractors just to gain an extra minute while putting passengers at risk. Thanks for the suggestion as all information will help to keep commuters safe on the road.

Why wouldn't we dream of a road like this in St. Thomas? When every other parish in jamaica has these roads!!!. Forgotten parish, Why? Because St. Thomas rebelled against the colonial government of 1865. We were the last parish to get a high school, now we r the last to get high way roads even though the first high way in jamaica is in St. Thomas, Ken Jones, high way. We r the last parish to get everything that every other parish already have. Now we r the last parish to get a common stop light. We don't have a KFC, an Island Grill, a proper restaurant, a proper park, a proper football field. So much politicians wilfully neglect St. Thomas, remember we are rich in resources so wait till d time come

Beautiful highway EM but for every action there is always a reaction. Question 1 what will the Chinese be getting in return for this first world highway ?? Will life be the same for the citizens of St Thomas when highway is completed?? The citizens of a section of the parish was crying out to the powers that be for water life sustaining water 💧 so far they are getting a beautiful highway the Chinese are doing a great job and payments will be one way or another nothing for nothing it is not far fetch to think Jamaicans should start learning Chinese they may need it sooner rather than later.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

That is why we are so backwards, because of people like you all, when other country try to develop themselves, how they do it, by loans, why we cant do the same and pay it back the sameway. If the leaders have the same mentality, we would still be living in 30s, may God bless you with that type of mentality.

Jamaica must curb the enthusiasm to lay waste swathes of country under tarmac. I wonder when we will pay up fully. They do the same all over third world countries . Progress yes, but Look at their own stagnated.

stoplights are important, there should be more in Jamaica with all the reckless driving. Also, Jamaica should have speed limit and highway speed police.

What's wrong with stop lights. I travel on hwy 301 5 days a week. There are more stop lights on the 2-3 miles of road that I drive on than on this entire hwy. The lights are well needed.
