The last one has to be the best dbz advert ever made, and yeah the karate champ haha takes me back to my childhood. I remember the "spaceman" ad it showed friezas fight with piccolo alot, i loved it. Thanks uploader for a trip down memory lane
I remember seeing the ad with the martial artist when I was 10. I dismissed it thinking it was overhyped and some kind of Superman knock-off. Then one day, I was bored with nothing else to do and decided to watch it. I remember it aired on Cartoon Network at 5pm on weekdays. I'd never encountered a cartoon that had a continuing storyline and felt invested in how things would turn out. I started watching when Goku was travelling on Snake Way and Gohan was trying to escape Piccolo. 21 years later and it's still the best show I have ever watched. The Frieza saga was like the Saiyan saga on crack. I'm so glad I watched the show because not only was it amazing in and of itself, but it led to me meeting a lot of cool people and moving to the US. If I'd never watched it, my life would be so different. I know DBZ is an anime, but to me, it was its own genre (though it introduced me to anime in general and I enjoy watching that). I don't remember the Cell saga ad with the guy screaming, unfortunately. But I remember a CNX ad where they used Points of Authority and I think they used some scenes from DBZ. I think. Either that or I'm thinking of a music video I watched a long time ago.
+Dalziel3979 Also, do you remember the episode where it ends with Goku powering up against Cell (after toying with each other the whole episode)? The song that played in the background... I'm still looking for it after 12 years lol
Absolutely brilliant!!! My past is revived. Thanks for uploading that. I always remembered that Toonami tune in the background back then 2:26. What a legend. Toonami block on Cartoon Network was the best moments of my chilled hood.
Oh wow that Cell saga advert has been stuck in my head for YEARS! I have vivid memories of watching DBZ late night on cartoon network and seeing that advert.
Finally! I've been waiting for years for someone to upload the adverts relating to Goku's Super Saiyan transformation. I've always remembered the narrator's line "After 3 thousand years a Super Saiyan has arrived..." because of his bizarre pronunciation of "Saiyan". I did remember the advert being slightly differently though - I thought he said these words against a backdrop of Goku emerging from the water, but it turns out that this clip is used in the other mini-advert of the same type.
right there!! the second ad in this video was the very first dragonball z related thing i encountered when i was a child in london. I have looked for this ad for a very long time thank you very much :)
DBZ advert I remember the most was one for a weekend long marathon, playing every episode from the first up to where it was at the time (Frieza saga). It used Moby's "Trouble So Hard" as the music. I remember making my dad tape the whole thing for me - I hadn't ever seen the first episodes, I'd only seen it from the Namek Saga, and I wanted to see the rest. He had cable and Cartoon Network but we only had terrestrial at my mum's house, so I couldn't watch it there :(
At the time when I saw this promo, I didn't even realise Goku was the Super Saiyan - it wasn't until, during his fight with Frieza, when he took off his orange vest and kept the blue one that I actually realised, "holy shit, it's him!". I was about 8 at the time. Was still fucking amazed when I saw the episode title of "Transformed at Last". God, I was a dumb kid, but still that was an incredible moment... watched the show from episode 1, by some incredible accident, when the Ocean broadcast was first airing. Always wished Radditz would come back, though I couldn't even remember his name by this point and was calling him "Ragis" or something...
So it looks like DBZ began in the UK with the Ocean dubs on Monday March 5th 2000, ran through to the ginu assult on Goku on planet namek. Then the new series from Monday September 4th 2000 picked up from there with the Funimation dubs, through Frieza, Garlic and Trunks. I recall it went back to Ocean for the Androids, Cell sagas in Spring 2001 afterwards. Cell games likewise in September 2001.
Lyndon Edwards Episode 108 (The first Ocean Dub episode for the 2nd run) Aired on January 23rd 2001. While the first airing of Episode 276 aired on February 28th 2003.
Was it 'Goku's Special Technique' for the first airing of the 2nd Ocean run in early 2001? I remember them all standing around the crater after Goku came back to earth in 2000, then they re-ran Freeza again until the new episodes.
What memories. I remember looking forward to Goku vs Frieza when suddenly after the Deja Vu episode they went back to Gohan's Metamorphasis, and then they went through the whole thing again and once they were getting close to Deja Vu again, these promos of new episodes started teasing Goku vs Frieza. Boy, the adrenaline........
OMG! Such a blast from the past, especially the faux interview with the karate champ. Thanks dude that was a really good feeling to see these again :')
I remember the show had a break just as Gohan was about to save Piccolo from Frieza (3rd form), and then they showed those super saiyan commercials and we all went crazy waiting for the new episodes lol.
Who is the martial artist in the second promo who is talking about becoming karate champion in 1984 and then saying he saw Dragon Ball Z, he didn’t know what hit him?
I still remember thinking: 0:56 Is that Frieza??? 0:59 What happened to Piccolo??? 1:03 Why is Goku's hair yellow??? 1:10 Why does Dende look all worn out???
Same here. Add to that "yyyeeessss, Goku fights Frieza!", and "how long does he fight him for, his suit's all ripped?!" Little did we know how long that fight would go on for! 😅
There was one ad in the sayan saga where the voice over guy names all the heros (except chaozu) saying how they will protect earth from the sayan menace, been looking for it but can't find it.
i can tell you a few dates i remember the 1st dragonball z episode aired in march 6th 2000 the first ab group ocean dub episode aired in january 23rd 2001 the final episode aired in february 28th 2003
Hey man, my memory isn't very clear, but do you know what dub they used (UK) during the androids, cell and buu saga? My memory is very faint of it, but I seem to recollect them switching. You got any idea?
We got the Ocean Dub again after the Trunks arc, because it was cheaper than FUNImation I believe. Then half way through the Buu arc it went back to FUNImation and then the reruns from Androids to Buu were the Ocean Dub throughout. It was so weird.
ofsassgard Here I was thinking I was going crazy, good to see someone else recalls that. The Buu saga (just after Fat Buu and Thin Buu seperated) was the start of a new (final I think) series on CNX in late 2002. For a good fortnight they were Funi dubs, then went back to Ocean. The re runs afterwards and till the end of DBZ on UK TV was back to Ocean. Wierd.
I remember some confusion at the time as Cell Games was advertised through the summer as premiering in September, then there was no sign of any DBZ of any sort. Some 'mailbag' show on Sky somewhere had a mum writing in complaining that it wasn't on and her son was really disappointed. A statement from Cartoon Network UK was read out saying something like "the new episodes are still in production" and will be on in October instead. I thought that was strange at the time, I thought "what were they doing all this time?" Looks like they'd decided to go back to Ocean at the last minute. Funny how we know things like dubs better nowadays. It all makes sense now, when back then we'd have been tearing our hair out and screaming "they lied!"
After 20 years the Cell Games TV advert came into my head. And I actually found it on TH-cam!! Great nostalgia
The cell saga "He is coming" advert is burned in my head, nostalgia rush is crazy
The last one has to be the best dbz advert ever made, and yeah the karate champ haha takes me back to my childhood. I remember the "spaceman" ad it showed friezas fight with piccolo alot, i loved it. Thanks uploader for a trip down memory lane

I remember the "Cell Games" saga promo and it had the song... "Time to play the game"... (same song Triple H used for this theme song).
now i really want to see that
Yeah I have that promo on a VHS tape I recorded of the whole Saiyan Saga that aired on one of those DBZ weekend saga rerun marathons they used to do.
+Dalziel3979 Can you please upload it cause i really wanna see it
+sa97 inc it was crazy!
+Dalziel3979 Also, do you remember the episode where it ends with Goku powering up against Cell (after toying with each other the whole episode)? The song that played in the background... I'm still looking for it after 12 years lol
Anyone have a recording of that Toonami weekend promo that used clips from the Namek / Frieza saga fight with Babylon Zoo's 'Spaceman'?
Dalziel3979 finally! Someone else remembers that!!! I thought I was going crazy 😂
the only reason im here damn best advert for dbz
Absolutely brilliant!!! My past is revived. Thanks for uploading that. I always remembered that Toonami tune in the background back then 2:26. What a legend. Toonami block on Cartoon Network was the best moments of my chilled hood.
Oh wow that Cell saga advert has been stuck in my head for YEARS!

I wish I was born in the 90s so I could’ve watched this when I got older
You still can

I have been searching for that sound for 12 years !!!!

That's odd, because I still have recorded VHS tapes of the Android and Cell sagas, and they do not use the Ocean dub in any of the episodes.
this i recall this REMARKABLE - youll never see this on Cartoon Network today - marvellous
omg nostaligic, moment, my family used to sit around the tv to watch this show and as a kid i probably begged my mum to either record or watch dbz
GUYS!! Dragon Ball Z Kai is coming to UK television in January 2013 on Kix!
I've been looking for years for the promo with Natural Blues by Moby. Such an epic commercial. I need it!
Still looking me
What memories. thank you ! you SAVED ME !!! thank you
I remember the show had a break just as Gohan was about to save Piccolo from Frieza (3rd form), and then they showed those super saiyan commercials and we all went crazy waiting for the new episodes lol.
:'( blast from the past, omg, its been 14 long amazing years since I started watching this.. amazing series
Cartoon Network used to be so badass
"You'll never know what hit you"...they were right
I love the way that guy say 'Saiyan'! Sounds so epic!!!
does anyone remember a promo advert for the namek series that had the track natual blues by moby?
I do. That's what I came here looking for
I also came here for that promo! :(
Still looking
0:55
It's weird how a guy from a commercial can pronounce 'Saiyan' correctly, yet the dubbing company can't.
For a moment then, I felt like a kid again.
never forget watching frieza saga for the first time, then being banned from watching it after my mother saw Frieza cut in half xD
LOL same thing happened to me and my brother!
Does anyone remember the advert with the song called spaceman in the background? I'm sure it existed just can't find it anywhere :/
Its coming on boxing day till 28th on Kix!
Anybody no the song playing in the background when they advertise DBZ and batman together
Spaceman by Babylon Zoo
welcome
Who is the martial artist in the second promo who is talking about becoming karate champion in 1984 and then saying he saw Dragon Ball Z, he didn’t know what hit him?
I remember these. I think it was back in 2001 when these came on cartoon network.
aw wow ,,
RTL II Logo at the end in 4:09 :P
I think they thought at 2:17 chi chi was doing something relevant
Oh yes they had good music choice
@dragonballUKVERSION do have any more videos of Toonami?
you and me both !
White Zombie - Supercharger Heaven
What is that music that plays in the first two ads? It rocks!
White Zombie - Super Charger Heaven
The cell saga intro looks pretty dope
I still remember thinking:
0:56 Is that Frieza???
0:59 What happened to Piccolo???
1:03 Why is Goku's hair yellow???
1:10 Why does Dende look all worn out???
Same here. Add to that "yyyeeessss, Goku fights Frieza!", and "how long does he fight him for, his suit's all ripped?!" Little did we know how long that fight would go on for! 😅
@skcihynnad check the audio rec on my other video. there are more !! and welcome..
P.S. more to come
White Zombie - Super-Charger Heaven
Was DBZ a popular show in the UK like in USA, Latin America and others european countries???
Pancho R R Yes.
You have no idea.
There was one ad in the sayan saga where the voice over guy names all the heros (except chaozu) saying how they will protect earth from the sayan menace, been looking for it but can't find it.
Does anyone remember the really cheesey ad for the first budokai game?
But I could never pinpoint when exactly Goku said "A Saiyan warrior!"........
Its because Trunks actually says it when he kills frieza on earth. They just cut the audio and put it in that trailer.
what's that music at 1:35?
Did they show anymore promos of the Karate Champ during the breaks when DBZ first aired on March 6th 2000? Or was he just in the first promo?
@bboult check all my audio commercials that I have put together from my mini cassettes recordings I did in 2000 2001 ! much more there
They don't make them like they use too
Does anybody know any of the original air dates for UK dbz?
i can tell you a few dates i remember
the 1st dragonball z episode aired in march 6th 2000
the first ab group ocean dub episode aired in january 23rd 2001
the final episode aired in february 28th 2003
Hey man, my memory isn't very clear, but do you know what dub they used (UK) during the androids, cell and buu saga?
My memory is very faint of it, but I seem to recollect them switching. You got any idea?
We got the Ocean Dub again after the Trunks arc, because it was cheaper than FUNImation I believe. Then half way through the Buu arc it went back to FUNImation and then the reruns from Androids to Buu were the Ocean Dub throughout. It was so weird.

It was a strange strange time for us poor Brits. It seriously got on my nerves. I got used to the FUNI dub and then all of a sudden, bam, new cast.
I remember some confusion at the time as Cell Games was advertised through the summer as premiering in September, then there was no sign of any DBZ of any sort. Some 'mailbag' show on Sky somewhere had a mum writing in complaining that it wasn't on and her son was really disappointed. ... I hate the way the guy pronounces 'saiyan'.
IT BUGGED ME AS A KID AND IT STILL BUGS ME AT THE AGE OF 23
But that's the correct way to say Saiyan especially if you jin on the end! ;)
What's the music playing at 0:01?
Probably a bit late but the song is called " White Zombie - Super-Charger Heaven"
