  • Sometimes installing new parts is easier than removing the old ones. When it comes to bushings, this is a prevalent theme. While there are some sketchy DIY methods for removing old bushings, we wanted to show you how simple it can be with the right tools.
    Our Polyurethane E36/E46 Rear Trailing Arm Bushings are available in 80A for street-driven vehicles and 95A for the track day machine. The factory BMW E36 and E46 RTABs (Rear Trailing Arm Bushings) are meant for a very soft, quiet, and comfortable ride as possible. However, you bought the "ultimate driving machine" for a reason. Not only do our E36/E46 RTAB bushings improve cornering speeds and power delivery, they also last longer than OEM units! That stands true for street and race use. We have tested poly long-term successfully in both environments!
    If your E36 or E46 feels "loose" when going around corners, these are the likely culprit. When the RTABs are gone, the rear toe (the angle that the tire points in or out) will vary under load and cause this "loose" feeling. Factory mounts require replacement in less than 50,000 miles or 3 years. If you track your car, then they will need replacement even sooner!
    Our E36 RTABs and E46 RTABs are available in 80A poly, 95A poly, and Delrin! 85A E36/E46 rear trailing arm bushings are meant for that OEM + feel. That means you want a subtle upgrade for your street car without too much of a compromise in comfort, these are a happy medium. 80A is designed for the street enthusiast. 95A is great for dual-purpose aggressive street and track applications. Delrin rear trailing is bushings are best for race applications only.

    If you're only installing these bushings on your own personal car, it may not seem worth purchasing an expensive tool for this one job. If this applies to you, most automotive parts retailers rent out bushing press kits so you can simply use them and then return them once you're done to get your money back! Sometimes these kits do not have the perfect size for your application but remember, it does not hurt to own more tools for the cars you love since you may never know when you or a buddy may need them 😉

    BMW's, Z cars, wrenching and cool-house Gran Turismo grooves! What else could you possibly want from a video? Nice.

    i know the thin side is installed first but does it matter which way they are? could the thick side be installed on the inside instead?. thanks

      Depending upon the orientation of these offset bushings, they have the ability to either take toe out or add toe! To add toe out, you want to orient the bushings so that the thin side is facing the side skirt, while the thick side is facing the differential. Conversely, to take toe out, you want the thick side facing the side skirt and the thin side facing the differential!

    Does the bracket have to be set at a certain angle before torquing it down?

      That bracket does not need to be set to any particular angle before torquing down

    Nice job man !! Thanks for alk these details...
    One question : if ill use yellow strongflex 90 shores ( red are only 80 shores for daily ) .... 90 for sport/race .... That will break my car ?

    • @garagistic
      @garagistic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      90a bushings shouldn’t break your car and we often recommend our 95a poly bushings for track/race cars with positive feedback and no broken cars.
      But if you’re worried about strongflex’s 90a bushings breaking your car, you can reach out to them for more questions regarding their bushings 😉

    Can you apply the shims as well with the garagistic polys RTAB poly bushings? or will they not fit?

    • @garagistic
      @garagistic  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      When upgrading to our poly rtab bushings, there's no need to run the shims since the poly already limits the movement of the bushings 👍

      While not mandatory, it is recommended to add a little bit of silicone grease to prevent any potential squeaking.

      @garagistic I ended up buying your 80A subframe bushing, the Delrin for my rear trailing arms and also the treehouse control arm bushing. The ride was perfect and zero harshness. No greese was included so I had to find it somewhere. Parts were perfect but consider including it. Just a thought 😊
