Hey. I have to say thanks. I have always wanted a LCM, but struggled with justifying the price. After watching your video, I bit the bullet and ordered the same kit in vintage black oyster pearl. To me this is the holy Grail of drum kits. Your excitement and exuberance and satisfaction was contagious. Thanks again. I am curious how you would tune it for a live gig.
Thanks so much! I play a lot of rock, so lower tunings typically work best for me. You should make an unboxing video too! I would love to hear your new kit!
I have a pearl reference and a premier genista birch but now I'm looking for a ludwig classic maple kit. For me is the best sounding maple wood drums right now.
I have a 1 year old Ludwig classic maple in a black lacquer finish (sable) and it sounds just like yours. For the Money it is the best made and sounding kit out there hands down.
Wow. Totally impressed with your new set-up and sound. Lifelong Ludwig guy with just my 1979 5 1/4" supraphonic (will never sell). Hope to get the same set-up you show in this video some day with a 11 x 13 tom. Best Regards!
@@drumlck there`s a band out there called Mullett and the drummer is really good and his kit looks and sounds just like your kit, I`ve seen them at the Casino in Ct... once in a while the guy does a solo... n he`s a beast... Mullettrocks.
Congratulations on your new Ludwig kit! It’s gorgeous, and sounds incredible!! I myself last year got the classic maples in Fab for house and downbeat for gigs. They’re the best drums I’ve ever played. The kits are so versatile and tuning range are incredibly wide.
Just got my Classic Maple digital sparkle pro beat as well. Did a major upgrade from a late 90’s Yamaha Stage Custom and my God what a difference! I’m so glad I didn’t cheap out and get the Neusonics. This is the sound I’ve been waiting for, nice low end on all drums with some punch. Only thing I’ve got to get use to is the 24” kick. Ears are so use to 22” x 18”. Love the feel of the shorter bass drum. Also purchased a Ludwig Acrolite 6.5 x 14” to replace my 1st gen Pearl Free Floater with a maple shell. I can concur with the way Ludwig and the retailer packed these drums. I watched the FedEx driver roll the bass drum and floor tom off the damn truck. He’s lucky it wasn’t damaged after spending $$$ on this kit.
WoW! I’m waiting for my Ludwig classic maple drum kit in white marine pearl. I ordered it last week so watching this video was great, makes me even more exited to get them. Thanks for the great video it made my day.
I absolutely love my new Ludwigs, same kit as you but I don’t have any mikes so it’s the natural sound but they still sound great. I love listening to your video to hear what they are going to sound like when they’re miked up. Thanks again for sharing your playing.@@drumlck
One of the best unboxing videos for a Ludwig kit I’ve seen in recent years. That kit sounds killer even with the stock remo heads! The assemblers at Ludwig are mostly drummers so they typically get them close to playable (except snares) coming right out of the box.
What an incredible kit and beautiful finish. I have a Ludwig Keystone X (now rebranded as Classic Oak) in Vintage Black Oyster - 2 x 22x16s, 10x8, 12x9, 14x14 and 16x16 with a Classic Maple 14x6.5 snare also finished in Vintage Black Oyster. I have previously owned Ludwig Centennials, Pearl Exports, Pearl Vision and played Tama Imperial Stars as well
Wow, great sound right out of the box ,of course your great playing makes them sound great too. I have two ludwig sets, a white oyster peal legacy and a black oyster pearl ( Ringo kit) . I play allot of 60's shows out here in southern cal., so they have the sound I need to have that 60's sound , good luck with your new kit!!
Beautiful kit! And the sound is simply awesome. Reminds me of my own unboxing of Ludwig's classic maple in 2018 which I chose in blue sparkle. I absolutely love these drums and I'm sure you will too, so happy drumming!
I play a 1967 blue oyster pearl Ludwig kit with 2 mounted toms; 12 and 13 inch. The floor tom is 16 inch and the bass is 22 inch. My kit is in mint condition and I hope to pass it down to my nephew some day. Thanks for your video. It felt like Christmas watching you open your new kit.
No offense, it is the first video I have seen from your channel...BUT you had me zoned in from the moment I clicked to watch the video. I discovered my passion for drums late in my life and decided to make my first upgrade purchase and got me a Ludwig Evolution kit (the old maple kit not poplar) with the entire standard pedals and high-hat stand. I got a bit greedy and bought the Ludwig Atlas pack so I can get a bit more of a heavier and more sturdy stands. I just subscribed and can't wait to get to your level. The kit is AMAZING. I have always been a fan of Sonor drums but this converted me to be a Ludwig lover. Awesome work man.
Sweet kit! I have 3 Ludwig kits. A 78’ stainless steel with a 26”, a 79’ mahogany Big Beat with a 24” and a 77’ classic maple with a 24”. The SS has 10”, 13”, 18”. The mahogany and maple have 10”, 13”, 16”. I use Aquarian SK2’s on all bass drums and Remo ebony’s with 1/2” insolation foam tape in 10” lengths attached just inside the rim edge. No port holes and nothing inside (pillow, towel, etc). Complete open tuning. I pretty much do all open tuning on all drums, including the snare drums. I have 17 Ludwig snare drums, and they get rotated accordingly. I use a variety of Zildjians, accordingly 😁…. I use Pearl Redline Eliminator bass drum pedals and Tama Cobra 2 leg hi hat stands. Lots of Gibraltar hardware. I also use a variety of Remo heads on the snare drums and toms. As you might be able to tell, I know what I want and what works best for me. My dad played Ludwig, sooo….
