    can tell you that in the past it was waaaay more difficult to reach an old age, with the advancenments we made in keeping people healthy. So might be quite safe to assume noone got older than that.

      True and life expectancy is still rising In Europe and most of the world, and it does make you wonder, where the limits are on that with natural ageing and not using medical science or genetic changes.
      If I were to put money on it, I would probably say 140 years of age that can be had naturally, but if genetic engineering is used, that numbers could go up far higher.

      Well, they have like 15 seconds per country... Do not expect to get properly informed here 😂. Do not get naked publicly in Spain without prior research or face fines.

    • @LeSarthois
      @LeSarthois 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@enriqueperez1373 Same logic actually applies in France : it is not banned to be naked, but it is forbidden to be "indecent in public view". Which mean that as it happened recently, if a woman decides to do topless sunbathing in a Parisian park and nobody complains, then that's no problem (unless the city of Paris bans public nudity).
      This also mean that several nudist beaches in France aren't actually officially nudist beaches, but just a place where nudists gather, so since nobody complaints, then it's free game as well.

    So strange to say it's not freedom to have mandatory vote. You still can give a white ballot paper.
    In every country, you have rights and duties. Having duties doesn't meen you have no freedom. That's crazy.
    Personally I prefer my Belgian freedom to American freedom by far. Our freedoms are just different.

    • @paul1979uk2000
      @paul1979uk2000 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always feel that mandatory voting should be mandatory for all democracies with how important it is on everyone in the country, but I know some people will say that would infringe on people's choice, but democracy is such an important part of life that impacts everyone in a democracy, mandatory voting would at least give everyone a voice.

    😅 that the thing to point in Spain is that you can walk starkers is shocking and not allowed in some cities. For exemple Barcelona has a relative new law that can fine you if you walk starkers on the middle of the streets.
    Years ago my cousin was shocked when she saw a man leisure walking naked on downtown Barcelona and nobody bat an eye, only the foreigners. The one thing that police asked to him was to put a towel on seats of public transport or put a towel if the shop's owner asked. But he was allowed. Now he isn't. But we are allowed sunbathe without top in all beaches. We have too nude beaches sometime nearly attached to the others. They are apart for the comfort of the nude sunbathers (nobody oogling them or a lone idiot berating them) rather than the comfort of the rest of the sunbathers. Small children run starkers on beaches.
    We have world's the smallest border and the European's largest royal palace. But yes, we can walk starkers 🙄😂

    • @foreignreacts
      @foreignreacts  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So a guy was allowed on public transport naked 😨

    • @vanesag.9863
      @vanesag.9863 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@foreignreacts Yes. He was allowed but he was respectful with the rest of the passangers and always sat on a towel. 😂
      The law permited it and he had the freedom to be a naturist in his city. He was respectful and the people that lived in his neighborhood didn't mind it or asked him respectfully if they had a problem with his nakedeness in specific places like food related shops or restaurants. He always was armed with a towel to enter food stores because the shop keepers asked him to cover for hygienic reasons. Police officers asked him to be respectful with the rest of the world and put a towel if he was going to use a public seat and he did it. His rights and freedoms stoped where the rights and freedoms of the rest of his neighbours started.
      USA citizens have a tendency to have stronger reactions to body parts than their European counterparts in general. Some European countries have the same relationship with breasts than USA but I mooned a group of Russians (men and women) in Iceland because I had to change in an open locker room like the rest of the people that were in that thermal river because there was the only place avalaible to do it and I think is Norway where the saunas are agender and group of friends or family members go together.
      I saw a grup of girls sunbathing topless in a park seven years ago and people passed them and nobody asked them to cover up. But here is unnusual to do it in a park in Spain. The girls were foreigners, Germans I think. We Spanish sunbathe topless in public outdoors swimming pools or at the beach.
      A breast is not so scary to a young boy if they see it like the natural thing that is it. A 8 years old boy that see different kind of breasts (younger, older, white, black...) is going to stare at them but when he becomes a wise 9 years old he is going to think "oh, the same old" and not see/stare them or slide an apathic look at most. I hope USA would get there too.

    Cost of studying in Germany:
    Non-EU citizens have to pay tuition fees in the states of Baden-Württemberg (€1.500 / semester) and perhaps in Bavaria and Saxony (universities can decide for themselves). In the other 13 German states: no tuition fees (also) for non-EU citizens. Studying is without tuition fees everywhere in Germany for EU citizens (there are exceptions for second degrees or while working).
    It's not completely free. You have to pay per semester, for example in Berlin:
    €50.00 administration fee
    +€9.95 contribution to the student body
    +€63.00 contribution to the student union
    +€176.40 contribution to the semester ticket (public transport)
    = €299.35 total amount
    You must have health insurance. For students: ~120-130 €/month.

    Poland also has really good food, plus the landscape is also really nice, whilst it's believed it's flat in the South there are the Carpathian mountains which even from photos it's beautiful, Poland has more than one river even though the Wisła is the longest, whilst Warszawa us the capital I would say the loveliest town in Poland is Kraków, e.g. Krakowskie Przedmieście, etc. in history it existed pre-1795, in 1795 until 1985 it was Russia, Prussia, Austria: Goodbye Poland see you never, rest of world: RIP Poland, Poland: Hey guys I'm still here, Three countries: What? We killed you!!! Poland: whilst you may kill me you will never kill my spirit, or my memory Three countries: We will. Oh we will. 1918 Three Countries: invading Poland was a mistake, here you're lands back, Poland: Oh, thank you, Russia: but we'll just attack you, 1939. Russia, Germany: Guess what? We're back Heil Stalin. Poland: Help me Allies! Allies (whistiling), Poland: Fine, I'll just fight and free myself shall I? 1945 Warsaw. Poland: Help me Russia. I can see you. We're allies. Russia: Hah. Yeah right. We were just sold you're body and now we'll just stand here watching. Poland: We may have lost the battle but we have not lost the war. 1985: See told you. (Sorry for that just a brief rundown of the whole history). Look I know, but it's kind of unfair what they did. "What's the best thing about Poland? It's next to Russia." That's ridiculously unfair and as if saying what's the best thing about the UK? It's across the sea from France and it once ruled it. Not fair so I just felt like I should at least try to do some justice, unfair not from everything but from the video he's commenting on.

    saying that it is "not freedom" like in Greece voting is mandatory ........ well, are you aware that, when every person in a democracy would chose the freedom of not voting, then democracy would immediately die! Every vote counts to keep democracy alive. When nobody does someone would take the chance to grab the power and rule however they like. The voice of the inhabitants of that country wouldn't be heard anymore.

      Democracy is a double edge sword, it's only as strong as the people in it and only as strong as the amount of people that are willing to vote, and sadly in a lot of western countries, a lot of people don't bother to vote which harms democracy as lower turnouts usually allows the more radical elements in society to gain more power.
      Considering democracy impacts us all in a democracy, mandatory voting isn't a bad idea.

      When it comes to the purchase of alcohol there is also a thing called challenge 25. So even if you do look 18 or slightly older then the person at the till can ask for ID. I think it takes some pressure off the staff by having the age higher as well because there's less guesswork.

    02:17 To answer your question, of course , Jeanne's record of being the oldest person ever is valid . It helps that France is a country obsessed with book-keeping, red tape ,registration and genealogy . Also Jeanne Calment lived in a provincial town where there were lots of witnesses .
    She has held the all time world official record for about 27 years now .
    Nobody else ever lived past the age of 120, that we know of with certainty (there were some occasional claims of a new record, but in each case ID documentation was unverifiable, falsified/dodgy or missing) .
    A Russian guy tried to gain some fame in 1918 with a biased/ bogus study pretending Jeanne was in fact her own daughter who died way before her. His "discovery" was proven to have no serious scientific basis ( he used internet as sources and did not check facts ...) and was soon declared void by gerontology experts .
    As for a man, the oldest recorded one was a Japanese man who died in 2013 at the age of 116 ( and 54 days) . It's extremely rare to live past theage of 110 , but one day her record will fall

Unless of course what I read was poorly translated, but if what I read was correctly translated, the guy made major mistakes. One striking one was that he misunderstood what a "viager" is (can't find a translation so here's a quick explanation : a viager is a property sale where the buyer pays a "rent" to the owner until the owner dies. yes, especially in the past where there was no minimal payout, it was a common murder plot for book and TV dramas), and assumed that Jeanne Calment paid her laywer instead of the opposite (yes, her laywer bough her apartment in viager. And yes, he died 30 years before she did). Not a big deal except that he theorized that she paid him to keep her "real" identity secret.
      For papertrails, while it's not perfect, France has instaured civil records as early as 1539 (helf by chuches, so, only for catholics citizens) then transferred this capacity to town halls during the Revolution (and extending civil recording to any French citizen regardless of religion). Thus by Jeanne Calment's birth, civil records were a firmly estabished practice. In addition (and contratry to what the Russian guy pretended) Jeanne Calment was born in a middle-class family and was a socialite. Thousand of people saw her over the course of her life. And one last thing he pointed out, that her old age wasn't noticed until she was 110, is... not surprising. There's nothing in France to celebrate older people, and unless you're doing statistics, you can't go in a town hall and ask for "every citizen born before the year X and still alive" (well I guess you can but most likely you will be told that it's not possible). I read that at first she was not interested in making her old have known and her family respected her wish, and the world spilled out when she was put in a nursing home and a nurse told a local newspaper about their 110 years old lady.

    Answer to question on 6:24. Russia is the biggest on the Earth but the european part only goes up to the Ural mountains, so a 1/4 of it is in Europe, for example Siberia (which is most of the Eastern part, snow, ice, etc. most of the year), is in Asia. Oh, plus, the diagram is a common misconception, whilst Russia is a United Kingdom in parts they aren't ruled by Russians, (I mean the old kingdoms), just like the UK it's ruled by many peoples mainly thanks to it's history, e.g. Siberia originally was the Mongols/Tatars with the Khans but eventually it became weaker and got under the "rule" of Russia, (look up the history if you're confused as to why it's "rule")

    You have been reacting to European subjects for years, and still get surprised by these things which are considered general knowlegde? For example, why are you surprised about the undersea rail tunnel in Instanbul, while the most famous undersea railtunnel literally runs between France and the UK?

    There is no verified people that ever lived as long as Jeanne Calmant, but traditionnal sources sometimes mention people that lived 200 yo or more, but it's more mythological then anything else, nothing "serious". And scientifically, it's thought to be impossible for the human body to live that long anyway.

    While the Germans destroyed most of the national landmarks (maybe not most but some), Austria had the Anschluss which meant that apart from a small contigent it basically didn't fight (anyway from what I read from the translated German version of Wikipedia (although can someone explain to me why there isn't a German and an Austrian one there most of history Austria was not the same thing as Germany or Prussia so even if there is nearly the same language but with an accent there should be 2 different accounts), anyway thanks to basically giving up without a fight (I'm sorry if it's not true again taking it from the German Wikipedia), the Germans didn't want to destroy as many landmarks thanks to that in comparison to places like Warsaw that is both in the September Campaign and the Warsaw Uprising, anyway later on while the Brits did bomb it (and a number of other places too e.g. Dresden where the fire got out of control and killed several people), some buildings weren't destroyed since it was outside of the capial city, kind of like how the Germans mostly only bombed the cities in Britain and left the others free, pretty much that's how it survived.

    6:47 this 'curiosity ignite' video tells you/us rubbish - e.g. Russia is the biggest country in Europe! France is 'a lot' bigger than Germany but even putting these two together doesn't even come close to the size of Russia. don't you live in Finland atm? your sense of size in European countries is still way off.
    European Russia is just short of 4 million km² in area (the whole of Russia is more than 17million km². Ukraine would fit into European Russia more than six times! the source video is bullocks.

    He is referring to Marienburg Castle in Poland, which has a total area of around 21 hectares. However, it is important to note that the definition of the "largest castle in the world" can vary depending on the source.
    Marienburg Castle is a medieval castle of the Teutonic Order built in the 13th century on the Nogat River, an estuary of the Vistula. It is located on the outskirts of the town of Marienburg (Malbork in Polish) in the Vistula Delta.
    From 1309 to 1454, the castle was the seat of the Grand Masters of the Teutonic Order. After that, with brief interruptions from 1457 to 1772, it belonged to Prussia Royal Share, an autonomous Prussian province that opposed the Order and voluntarily placed itself under the patronage of the Polish crown. At times during this period, the castle was also under Swedish control. After the reunification of the Prussian sub-regions as part of the First Partition of Poland, the castle became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1772. After the Second World War, the Soviet occupying power placed the castle, together with the southern half of East Prussia, under the administration of the People's Republic of Poland.
    With a total area of 21 hectares and a usable area of 14.3 hectares, the extensive complex is the largest castle in the world, ahead of Prague Castle on the Hradčany and the Veste Oberhaus near Passau; it is the largest brick building in Europe; with its architectural design in the brick Gothic style, it became the model for many other buildings, e.g. the Mürwik Naval School. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to several exhibitions and can be visited all year round.
    The first decorated Christmas tree was put up by the Freiburg bakers in 1419. The tree was festively decorated with nuts and fruit and stood in the Heilig-Geist-Spital in Freiburg. This is the oldest known mention of a decorated Christmas tree.
    Other sources
    However, there are other sources that claim that the first decorated Christmas tree was put up in Riga, Latvia, or Strasbourg, Germany. Riga celebrated the 500th anniversary of the first decorated Christmas tree in 2010, while Strasbourg is said to have traded in Christmas trees in 1539.
    Riga
    The Latvian capital Riga claims that the world's first Christmas tree was erected in 1510. According to the story, a wooden pyramid was decorated in the town hall square with fruit, flowers and toys. This event was celebrated in 2010 to mark the 500th anniversary of the Christmas tree in Riga.
    Tallinn
    The Estonian capital Tallinn, on the other hand, claims that the first Christmas tree was erected in 1441. According to this, a decorated fir tree stood in front of Tallinn's town hall.
    However, both cities agree that the tree was put up by the Brotherhood of Blackheads - an association of unmarried Low German merchants who lived in both Hanseatic cities on the Baltic Sea at the time.

    At least three presidents is not as complicated as it is with 10% of your country being the president the rich 10%, I wish Poland before 1795 had only 3 presidents nope 1 wrong vote and it's cancelled, yikes, if only we had three presidents we might have survived and made the Constitution of 3rd May earlier meaning our country was alive for 125 years, our King Stanisław August Poniatowski did his best though (chodzi mi tam są osoby w krajach dookoła nas którzy zrobili mniej albo naprawdę złe żeczy jak masakra pragi i jeszcze są nazywani wielcy, jeśli coś to z analizy czasów jeśli ktoś na to zasługuje to dokładnie naś król walczył non stop dla naszego kraju żeby uratować go po pierwszym rozbiorze, tyle zrobił dla kraju artystycznie, tyle zrobił wogule, plus zrobił coś co Francużi nie mogli z Constytucją 3 Maja i wyzwolenie serfów z kontroli stanu, według mnie patrząc na niego biografię zasługuje więcej na tytuł "wielki" niż np. Katarzyna II albo Frederick II, tylko mówiem)
