- In this video, we will share our experience after spending 3 months in Krakow, Poland in the summer of 2024. We spent June-August, 2024 and lived regular lives while also discovering the city as tourists. We will cover our neighborhood, transportation, dining options, our gym, and even grocery shopping. This beautiful European city has so much to offer and we barely scratched the surface. Poland is a beautiful country and we can't wait to come back and explore more.

This park around old town is the place where the city walls and moat used to be. 'Barbakan' you filmed originaly was surrounded by moat 25m wide and 3m deep... I wish we could preserve all of this.
Wow, that is so interesting! Thank you for that information! ❤️🇵🇱
It couldn’t be preserved in its entirety as caused sanitary problems for the old town ;)
One of the arguments used to preserve the northern wall was to avoid strong northern wind blowing through Florianska st., blowing up skirts of honourable Krakow citizens walking to St Mary’s for a service and showing their ankles 😂
Really informative video. We didn’t know anything about Krakow and your video has us both googling away! Great job!
@@RetiredNomadAdventures Thank you guys! Kraków is a great city with tons to do and see. It's a great base to take some day/weekend trips too.
Let us know if you have any questions! We'll be putting out more Poland videos over the next couple weeks.
Polska jest piekna, pozdrawiam z Koeln (Deutschland )

Haha you stayed at my street, so weird to see it in a video that popped on youtube 😂 so glad u liked Podgorze and Krakow ❤
We loved our time in Kraków! You live in a beautiful city! We had a wonderful experience and can't wait to come back! 🇵🇱
You forgot to mention the Wawel castle, certainly one of the biggest attractions of the city.
You are right! This video could have easily been twice as long with all the beautiful sites the city has to offer. We posted a couple of shorts regarding Wawel Castle and the Dragon 😊
Totally agree on visiting the Holocaust places and not doing anything else that day. When we were there, we just visited one place a day, because you really don't have any energy afterwards, Especially Auschwitz was extremely taxing on us. It's a dark stain on the modern history, but it has to be seen. We didn't really like the way the Schindler's factory museum was set up, though, as it felt more generic and less about the actual story of Oskar Schindler that happened there. As we remember, it was just mentioned at the end of the entire visit. It could have been done with a little more focus on the place itself rather than generic occupation history. But yes, Krakow is such a beautiful place, the Jewish quarter is great, the architecture is marvellous, the people are friendly, and overall, it's such a great experience. Now you made us want to visit it again!
Well said, we completely agree with everything!
Kraków: super, super, super, Małopolska - the best in Poland.
Yes! 🇵🇱🤍❤️🇵🇱
Fantastic Video!! Waiting for more from Poland
Thank you so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! We have more Poland videos coming out over the next couple weeks.

Great video! We loved visiting Krakow. Poland is a great country to explore. Where are you headed next?
Thank you! Krakow is a gem. We are in Istanbul now and heading to SE Asia next.
@@SlowTravelWithUs we spent a month in Istanbul in the Spring and hope to make it to SE Asia next year. Look forward to your upcoming videos. Your videos are great!
Thank you so much! We are loving Istanbul. We may cross paths at some point! 😊
@@SlowTravelWithUs if you make it to Germany we would love to show you around our area in Rheinland-Pfalz. We live in Germany and the USA part time and do some slow traveling in between.
@travelingexpats That sounds awesome! Thank you so much for the offer! I'm sure we'll be in and around Frankfurt in the near future. We plan on spending most of 2026 in Europe as well.
The Thai restaurant (probably MOLAM) is not Michelin Star, but Michelin Bib Gourmand. These are two completely different things
You are 100% correct! Thank you! Yes, MOLAM is recognized as Bib Gourmand by Michelin. We enjoyed our meal there, the food and service was excellent. We'll add this note to the description of the video. Thank you for watching!
Interesting perspective for a Kraków's local! For anyone interested, remember we have seasons and it's very different in winter. Either way, you'll be well fed and you'll easily get away with no Polish.
Thank you for watching our video. We would like to spend more time in this country and experience the different seasons, even winter. Christmas must be so beautiful.
Very nicely said, great to listen to. I was happy to subscribe. Best regards and encourage you to visit Nowy Sącz and the surrounding area. :)
Thank you so much for watching! We're glad you enjoyed our video! We loved our time in Poland and can't wait to come back. We'll add the Nowy Sącz area to our list. 😊❤️🇵🇱

How interesting! It's a small world! We really enjoyed using that gym. Thank you for watching our video! ❤️🇵🇱🤍
You need to visit Gdańsk!
We would love to! It's on our must-visit list next time we're in Poland. Thank you for watching our video!
Auschwitz-Birkenau - GERMAN Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp (1940-1945).
Good video. From Poland with love!
Thank you for watching our video. We appreciate that Poland preserved this place even though it was the Germans who committed the atrocities. 🇵🇱❤️
@@SlowTravelWithUs
Come back to Poland again sometime. There are a lot of interesting and beautiful places to see in Poland. You are always welcome.
❤Take care of yourself and good luck!
@@MultiKruczek Yes, we definitely will. Thank you so much!
@@SlowTravelWithUsI must say that there is a bit missing from what you’ve learnt about this place. People remember only Jewish history of that place. Actually it was first created for Poles (they were only or dominating nation during first years of this camps existance), and at first religion didn’t matter as much.
Somehow that knowledge rarely sinks in, that Poles were as much victims of WWII. Lost 20% of population, being prosecuted, killed, the only nation with death penalty for helping Jews and helping anyways, and so on.
It's a hidden treasure
Agreed! 🇵🇱❤️
Be careful with cheesecake - you can get it both very good and bad. Burnt, melted and dry cheesecake is unfortunately also quite common. It is worth choosing a better place to try cheesecake
We definitely ran into that a time or two. For the most part they were great, but we had a few experiences where it was dry. We still enjoyed it. There are so many great options. I think our favorite cafe/cheesecake was at Tociekawa. Thank you for watching our video and commenting! 🤍🇵🇱❤️
my prababcia was from grębałów kraków and she was sent to birkenau in '41 and died there, she had a toddler and a baby at home 😞 her "crime" was holding some milk & bread for them
it was crazy for me to learn that Siemens (which i see everywhere today), was the company powering the electric fences at the concentration camps
How horrible!! I'm so sorry!! 😭😢🤬
Oh wow, we didn't know this! You learn something every day. Thank you for watching our video.❤️🇵🇱❤️
In NYC Hot dog cost 5 dolars for basic sausage and bread. In Żabka for 5 złotych wich is like 1,25$ have much better sausage with lot of diferent sauces, So if Żabka starts to conquer the US, your hot dogs are finished :D
In the U.S. You lack small businesses, local coffee shops instead of Starbucks everywhere. And you have bloody expensive ones. In Poland the price/quality ratio you get mostly fantastic products ;)US is way to much about corporation nowdays.
A big plus for you that you say Germans and not Nazis. Poles are very sensitive on this point. For Americans it mostly doesn't matter and for Poles it matters a lot. We know who attacked us in 1939. We know who murdered us and it wasn't any mythical Nazis what fell from the sky as a new race. Just ordinary Germans.
The separation of Germans from Nazis has been part of the policy of the Federal Republic of Germany since the 1960s. 100 years from now, no one will say that the Germans caused the war, the Germans built concentration camps on conquered land. THOSE were all Nazis and the poor Germans sat at home during that time.
I enjoyed listening to you and hope that you had a great time and will return to Poland someday.
Thank you for watching our video. We had a wonderful time in Poland. It is very different compared to the US but that's part of the charm. History is not always kind but we appreciate the truth. We are learning a lot in our travels. We look forward to visiting Poland again to explore and learn more ❤️🇵🇱
It's lucky that you said that the concentration camp was a German camp. Because in Western Europe, people are constantly talking about Polish concentration camps - it's a kind of mental shortcut, that it's about locating them on Polish territory, but it's a deliberate action, just like saying that some nationalist Nazis murdered them, and they won't say that it was Germans, and Poles cannot agree to such statements, and when such a statement is made somewhere in the media in Western Europe, Polish embassies react to correct false information insulting the Polish nation. This may be because Poles never agreed to cooperate with the Germans like the rest of European countries, and maybe it's done out of a sense of guilt and equalizing everyone, that all countries did so, and here only Poland shines against the others. Krakow is beautiful, the layout of the houses and the houses themselves have existed since the Middle Ages.❤
We learned so much during our visit and we appreciate that Poland has preserved these areas so that the world never forgets what happened and that it never happens again. Thank you for watching our video and sharing your thoughts with us.🇵🇱♥️
Paczki its plural, not paczkis.
Dziękuję! We did not improve much on the Polish language during our time in Poland but we love the paczki!!
local pronunciation: krah-koov
so it would be station name: krah-koov gwoov-nih (kraków główny)
unaccented vowels are same as in spanish/italian, w has "v" sound, and ł has "w" sound
also, stress is always on the penultimate syllable of a word, like in italian.
In German concentration camps, not only Jews were imprisoned. There were also many Poles who were members of the underground resistance movement in Poland. If the Germans were not sure that the Poles they arrested fought against them, they did not kill them, but sent them to such a concentration camp. Those Poles who were not so lucky were shot on the spot by the Germans.
Yes. We learned that not just Jews were subjected to the horrific treatment in the concentration camps. Heart-breaking.
@@SlowTravelWithUs
My grandfather, among other things, was a prisoner of a concentration camp, although he was Polish and not Jewish. The Germans had no evidence that he was a member of the resistance movement, so they didn't kill him, but sent him to such a camp. There were many Poles there.
Thank you for sharing this with us. It's hard to believe that this happened not so long ago. What a terrible time in history and so many families were affected.
Thank you for watching our video! ❤️🇵🇱🤍
