Good on den for putting the prison guard in his place, den wasn't frightened if he had something to say he'd say it. Plus what he said was bang on "Without this place you're nothing" . These authority figures really do think they're someone special and say what they want because you can't answer back. So good on den.
Would be nice to see some more scenes like when Den was on the run and the afternarth of his Shooting near the canal and the day of his last day in the square before he started work in the wine bar
brad sounded like a true east end boy..the other guy always sounded like a oxbridge student turned gangster but still back when the series was gritty and frankly superb..
Yeah deffo, these guys were genuinely intimidating. Miss these days with The Firm, Jack Dalton and Johnny Allen, when you had proper mafia-esque gangsters in the show. Not like the jumped up drug dealer like thugs you get in the show these days.
Decent program, yes. Realistic, not entirely. It's pretty funny how scenes jump around. One minute I was watching an episode where Ian was telling Kathy off and calling her a slag. A few scenes later, Ian is professing to Kathy how much he loves her and how she's been such a wonderful mother. It's pretty funny!
I have them all , lol. I I like the way the light switches off on Den , as though its his death. And what do you think if Gregory Mantel ( the boss ) ? I think he is menacing, upper class, head of Walford Investments , which is a front for The Firm, but there is a sinister twang about him. He looks nasty
+CanadianMaster1 Mantel was fantastic, was he killed or just disappeared when the storyline ended? I often wonder if Eric Mitchell (Phil's dad) was in The Firm before his death. Claudette Hubbard seems like the person with connections. I hate to bother you mate but i requested the Nick & Dot scene from 20 April 1998 a while back, do you have that episode? EastEndfan300 told me you had most years.
+Derek Anderson I do have that 1998 episode , I am having trouble converting them right now, I will try again tonight . Mantel's last episode was Den's canal death. He was the guy with the binoculars and who talks into the walkie talkie (if you have seen it ) . After Den falls into the canal, he was never heard about again , which is a shame as he was good. Only Mr Vinniecombe was above him, but I am really baffled as to why they made Mr Vinnecombe (the top boss ) as the body found in the canal, for not getting Den dead, rather then Mantel , (the second boss , who gave the orders) . Any road, it was Den who died at the canal for me...his return sucked. I don't think Eric Mitchell was in the Firm, because the writers have ret conned all of this. The Mitchell's came from another area originally , but the writers have glossed over this and re written it. Very unrealistic . I would have loved a scene with Brad , Mantel and The Mitchell Brothers though
+CanadianMaster1 Vinnicombe never appeared did he? I remember in late 1985 everyone in the square was talking about a murder victim going through a meat machine and the Vinnicombe family were responsible. Den also says he went to school with 2 Vinnicombes when threatning Nick Cotton. Vinnicombes/Dens first funeral are on dailymotion. The user is called soapiedish and the video is under 06-05-1990 ( incorrect date) it was 1st May. Barnsey also made an appearance at the funeral and Nick shits himself when he see's him lol. Thanks also for getting the 1998 clip. Great channel :)
+Derek Anderson I have seen the funeral scenes , (Dens in my opinion ) . I have also seen the finding of Den's body in the canal , after Sharon found his ring in a market stall. I have never seen that episode where they mentioned the meat machine ... where was it discussed ? And by whom? I prefer the 80's Firm to the 2000's Firm by far, more realistic in my opinion . What do you think of Brad Williams? I like that he can be funny and serious in the same scene
not even in the same league the firm where like the mafia a full-on gangland organisation serious villians the mithchells are a pair of low-level petty thugs
Star tracker He was hired by vinnicombe to front The Firms legitimate activities as a finance advisor & to throw off suspicion from the police. Vinnicombe ran it, with Dalton & Mantel was the gangsters direct boss.Obviously they needed a crooked finance bloke to run things well & they hired him. How many cockney finance blokes were around back in 1988-89? Not many.
why not he was just a ruthless allow how he got to know eastend gangsters like the vinniecomes always interested me pity there was no backstory anyway he was likely getting paid a ton of money

@@gravy180rs absolutly the old episodes are much better like the firm where very realistic
the Oxbridge-sounding guy was an advisor for Dalton.
Still realistic unlike cartoon gangster rubbish nowadays🤣🤣
Love Den Watts
The Walford Mafia
In Full Effect 💪
this is when this was a decent programme and realistic

The oxford firm ? Spiffing chaps
More like pompous prats
He sounds more like he should be narrating public information films than he does a gangster. Got a ring of "Protect and Survive" about him.
JACK DALTON WAS THE BOSS VINEIECOMBE WAS HIS RIGHT HAND MAN, MANTEL WAS THE SUPERVISOR, ABIT CONFUSING I KNOW.
Vinnicombe was the boss at the time, Dalton became boss after Vinnicombe was possibly murdered
Zeekos Red Phoenix yep. Dalton killed him and put him in canal
Damnn
These were the golden days of the show. Do you have anymore prison scenes with Den?

Best part of this is the Geordie police man
That geezer to push to be a gangster.
gammergq k
The way he reprimands his team for failure sounds like a health insurance commercial.
But years later In 2003 he did a Armed robbery with phil and left phil to get arrested as he knew he was going down with phil for something he did do
What was Den in prison for? Or was he innocent?
I think I heard somewhere it was for murder but I'm not sure
He burned down the Dagmar as revenge for Wilmott Brown attacking Kathy.
@@jessehordley95 That was in real life !
And Den was the cleaner
The Firm leaving Walford paved the way for the Mitchell brothers to take Den’s place
that pair of low level louts do not even come close to the firm who where like the mafia a proper criminal organization
not even in the same league the firm where like the mafia a full-on gangland organisation serious villians the mithchells are a pair of low-level petty thugs
shame there arent any futher episodes leading up to den being shot and the afternath videos of the episodes
Love Eastenders
The firm where was jack dalton then
He was an offscreen character at this time.
In the toilet
He ordered the meeting and hit, but wasn't present there.
A posh guy as a gangster? Yeah right! Lol
both jack dalton and johnny allen were upper case classy men.

Brad always talked like an Eastend hardman...That blond boss sounded implausible...
why not he was just a ruthless allow how he got to know eastend gangsters like the vinniecomes always interested me pity there was no backstory anyway he was likely getting paid a ton of money
Crap firm if he lived lol
