That's amazing Mark! I love all the Broadcast lightshows and your use of the Dream Machine really worked well. Did you grab it from the Brion Gysin film?
Eight years on, this footage is so precious, and every time so wonderful to see. Trish is in perfect voice, as she so often was live. Just so beautiful, we miss you so much, sweet Trish.
Didn't realize the date on this was December 2010. Wild to think it was only a couple weeks after this that her fatal bout of illness began : ( Such a sudden and upsetting loss - I can only imagine what beautiful works they would've continued to put out had events played out differently.
I was right at the front of this gig, right in the middle even. After the end we hoped for an encore and it seemed like they weren't up to it, until Keenan came out many minutes later and sang You and Me in Time with a loop pedal all by herself, well after the lights came on. Beautifully eerie in retrospect. :(
I thankfully own the bootleg of that gig, Trish's joy at the reaction to her encore is so utterly joyful and lovely, she didn't think it was much good, but the audience disagreed! The delay she put on, with perfect timing, was wonderful.
I feel like if Ms. Kennan were alive, Broadcast would've been perfect for the soundtrack to the new season of Twin Peaks. Her voice and performance would've been perfect for the dreamy atmosphere of the show. But alas we shall hopefully see a performance from her and many others in the next life. Happy Dia De Los Muertos Trish
I feel ashamed for not having heard of Broadcast, wonderful Trish, and their magnificent sound before her tragic and untimely death. Most of all, however, I feel at a complete loss... having finally found inspiration in this unique voice I can only describe as otherworldly, but in the same stroke finding out that such an admirable woman is no longer with us. My condolences to all touched by her passing, which in a fair world would have meant all of mankind.
Her voice sounds a lot more expressive live. It's a different experience, which is wonderful that they don't rehash their recordings on stage. It's truly beautiful. Love you Trish, hope I meet you one day.
Awesome sound quality on this one. I count myself lucky to have also been present for this, their last fully-fledged headlining show. Such a bittersweet experience, re-watching ti now.
Sorely underrated group , but precious to those who know them . Hard to believe Trish was dead a month after this performance , which remains an incredibly sad injustice .
@insleepsound Absolutely. I trust you saw the Guardian blog that now links to this. I was moved to read that their manager also specifically remembers it as special, confirming that Trish being sufficiently moved to do a solo encore after running out of rehearsed material was nothing to be taken for granted. :)
@EyepopTheSailorMan And she was so apologetic about the a cappella song despite everyone being blown away! I didn't see the Guardian article until you mentioned it, nice!
@Heidibradfield It doesn't feel right does it. I'm glad the video has introduces their music to new listeners. I highly recommend attaining Haha Sound and Tender Buttons if you like what you hear.
This is my first experience of Broadcast, who I never heard of before now. I'm thinking to myself that here may very well turn out to be a good place to start, a good introduction and I wanted to say thank you for posting this. Fans of Broadcast must be very shocked and I offer my deepest sympathies. Its quite frightening for all of us really, that she died so young and so quickly as a result of Swine Flu...
I was just saying that describing a new band out of London called Vanishing Twin. Check out the live version of the song 'Conservation of Energy.' Reminded me of Broadcast and Stereolab another band who suffered a loss at vocals.
Thanks so much for this video. I'm really grieving this tragic loss. Do you have a video for the final a cappella song at the end or just mp3? I would love to see it.
audience-shot live video & audio quality is often too marginal where you sort of have to force yourself to listen & see through the noise and the shaking that I often don't feel up to clicking upon them to even give them a chance. Sure glad I did this time..
@thecyberpainter I'm afraid all the extra footage I shot has been lost in a harddrive crash believe it or not. When I can afford it i'll try to see if it's recoverable, fingers crossed! But from what I remember I didn't have any space left on my camera for the encore.
i made the dream machine visuals...on 16 mm..i worked with broadcast on there light shows for years....good times...
I would love to know more about the light show process and the visual Broadcast used. I would really appreciate if you could tell me more about it.
Mark it must have been wonderful to know her and work with such a talented, singular band. Can I ask what are the standout memories?

Very nice! Those are the colors I see on mushroom trips ;)
Love your work @markmacdonald2460 - working with anyone recently??

That's so sad and eery but what a beautiful legacy she left here.

@@roberth1322 I'd love to hear that bootleg!
@@roberth1322 is there video of the entire show?
*_"what better view will I find?"_*

Rest in peace, angel.

Always love you , Trish! This world is a little sadder without you in it!

Love the slap echo and verb. She uses it like an instrument by triggering it with stark pitch changes in the melody.
sadly she passed 10 years ago...today is her birthday.
sounds definitely like the space lady to me
I really like the spacey dimension of this version.
@EyepopTheSailorMan Such a special gig even without knowing it would be one of their last. Truly devastating.
So glad I got to see them on this tour. I'll never forget it.
Thanks for this; still sad about death of T Keenan so it's nice to discover a crisp recording of a lovely performance.
One of my favorite voices of all time...I am very sad to hear of her passing.

I so hope someone still has that mp3 because the link in this video fails to load.
Love this ❤

I love the smile Trish gives James at the end of the video. Wonderful clip.
Simply fantastic
Wow... hear some Nico and Charlotte Gainsbourg, yeah?
Out of this world

Incredible vid & thx for the download!
I miss her so...

@thecyberpainter good news, I found the footage! th-cam.com/video/AFYw3vjfRc4/w-d-xo.html
Love the visuals. I used to do intelligent lighting and loved using the oil wheel. This is really rad. @markmacdonald2460
