Everybody wants to live in such a place, which is why it's so expensive! If only planners could make plants and trees the most important part of any regeneration -- any ghetto can be transformed by trees!

I think it's because you feel like you belong (very hard to feel like an outsider in NY -- everybody fits in) and you're in charge of what you do next because with all the things to see, do and eat (even on certain days the museums have free admission, and the NY public library is free, and the food is good and the parks are so nice). It's a very freeing place.
First time I ever visited NYC was in 1995. I was 27 and ate at that very restaurant Sevilla. Sangria was great! NY and Paris are the greatest cities in the world!
