I personally like it without the tower, the tower you loose range of motion with the straps being attached at the tower.

How heavy are the strings
I think each machine is different. I can typically go with all 4 for my legs but mine doesn’t have colors or labels and they all feel the same to me. for arms I can go for 2-3.
Always stick with what you can manage. Sometimes trainers will say “2-3 strings is what you should do for this one.” and they are VERY wrong. always go for a weight that works for you. If you can do 1 string or 4 strings it doesn’t matter. Just go at YOUR pace and listen to the body you were gifted. Much love. 👍🏼
