LOVE watching, love knitting while i watch, love the goofiness, love the bleeps, why on earth would ANYONE give a thumbs down on this loveable and funny show? You guys share the love, show the love, and love each other! Can't wait until the next one!!!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU for mentioning price points and limited incomes...and I have made some very sturdy socks with Debra Norville's sock yarn which is called Serenity and is on sale at JoAnn's. BEAUTIFUL...this sawk session was sooo awesome!! Oh I just adore my 9" circulars...the secret Jodi is seriously to let go...it is easier to hold my tension when I let go...don't hold on so tight to the needle...I just adore them...
Yes! Yes! Been knitting for decades, never knit socks and that book is the business! Taught me to whip up a pair of socks as if Ann Budd was sitting next to me! Thanks Tracie for remembering books. Love you guys.
Thanks for mentioning Ancient Arts in Weimeriner!! I gifted my friend a "How to Knit" package for her birthday in February. She started taking casses and informed me her first project is a snood - for her dog - a weimeriner! How could I NOT get this yarn for her!!! Hopefully it will be a nice surprise for her when it arrives in a couple days and the start of a good stash. Thanks again! @jillenasue (IG& Ravelry)
Such a great way to spend a couple of hours! Although I think we were cutting into Jodi's nap time 😴. Thank you both for using your precious free time to give us all a much needed GG fix and thanks for all the yarn tips! just recently discovered the Espace Tricot podcast and loved the episode when they toured their store. I've never seen such a well stocked yarn store!
if you come to Space Tricot you must let your eastern followers know so we can come and meet you in person. Maybe you could do a sortve "truck Show" there. I love you guys and love Espace Tricot. My lLYS is Wabi Sabi in Ottawa and we have tons of fun there too.
Patons Kroy is a 75% wool 25% nylon blend, no acrylic. It is a decent sturdy everyday sock yarn that comes in some nice striping patterns. I use it often to knit socks for my grandkids, and they don't complain about the feel of them at all.
A joy as always ladies! It cracks me up every time I hear ''Traaaacy'' ''Joooodi'' or ''Geoooorrgia'' I thank God that your names ain´t Gertrude, Prudence and Hyacinth, LOL !
I totally was watching this on my front porch and ran into the house and slid across the living room floor wearing my knitted socks so I could show my husband that you were talking about my yarn(Casual Fashion Queen)!! 🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛
Just recently discovered you and your wonderful podcasts! You are like visiting with my knitting friends - such yarn enablers! Love, love, love watching your programs.
YES!! "Getting Started Knitting Socks" is the BEST book to learn to knit socks from. It is jam packed with info, clear pictures that are so easy to understand....this was the very first sock book I bought and I'm wearing mine out. I LOVE IT. So glad to see you recommend it.
Love the episode! The Patons Kroy is Wool / Nylon blend (no acrylic as per description). So it is a good on a budget alternative, as well as Knit Picks! Love your Podcast! Brings me smiles all the time! Thank you so much!
I love the 9 inch circular bamboo needles by Clover. I bought also dpns bamboo (don't like it at all). I Love the 9 inch and I have large hands. it took some time to get used to them. ( I have completed one sock last night. I also have the Knitting Socks book ( the first book you showed) I bought 3 years ago. I love you guys so much!!!! I learn so much from you two.
I love Casual Fashion Queen! Her yarns are amazing!!!! And she is an awesome gal as well =) I can't wait to see Moon Child as a bag, so excited. Go Sheena!
I love 9" circs! I know people either love them or hate them usually, but for me they are my go to needle. I actually have pretty big hands and they still work for me. I tried 3 different brands and I love 2 of them. I feel like I hold the needle differently than most others that knit with the 9" circs; I used to podcast for a bit and I tried to show how I hold them. Maybe I will post a photo or video sometime because I was also not sure how to hold them at first.
Love Susan's Craftsy class. I have in fact never knit a sock. Susan is so clear. I am about half way done. I am saving both heels for the end, but I am confident I will be able to finish with Susan's guidance. Love, love, love her class!
I appreciate your super informative sock tawk this time around. I'm a newbie knitter and get frustrated when attempting socks because I just can't get the sizing right. Feeling recharged and ready to try again! Thank you Ladies! 😘
What a delight to find you on my notifications this morning. Since I 'found' you, I've done more knitting than I have in a long time. Love the 'Sock Tawk' section. I have two pairs, cuff down, on magic loop. I binge watched your podcasts and while waiting for today, I began again at Episode 1 again.......just needed the 'GG FIX'!! An addition to 'Sock Tawk' might be about choosing the base yarn when purchasing sock yarn. There seem to be many out there. I might like to try the 9" circulars and make a 'sock' scarf in a tube using 'leftovers'. Maybe that would help with tension. Keep it coming....you are hilarious, caring, uplifting, and real!!
I would love to meet you ladies one day. Forget celebrities, you two rock! Every time I watch your videos I wish I lived a little closer so I could afford to visit. You're so down to earth and hilarious! Thank you for bringing extra smiles to my days. Hugs from BC. :)
well that was a great podcast I have to check out some yarn.... you can never get enough the ideas well I cant tell you I am so inspired. I am knitting like crazy for a fun raiser for a friend and I cant wait to work on my shawl. love you guys happy easter.
Great episode, especially sock tawk, thinking of starting on some socks for our winter here in rural Victoria, Australia, even though we don't have snow here our frosts can be severe. I love seeing all the yarn, as it is very hard to find here.
I love to watch this episode over and over. I love the Jodie mustard story it remind me of how much my younger brother loved ketchup when we were growing up. It is so cute to hear every time!! 🤗🤗
omg i have to watch your podcasts twice, just so I don't miss ANYthing. ✨you glossy-lipped GGs are tooo precious! i just want to reach into your podcast & hug you... never change🌸
Hi again. I just got to the part about 9" circulars. I tried to get them for a year, but couldn't get them anywhere near me, and couldn't find them online for reasonable shipping. finally, someone sent me a needle to try ( I'm so grateful). at first I hated them, but I had heard so many people say that it has a big adjustment period and to just keep going. I'd say it takes at least one pair of socks to get the grip. maybe 2 pairs. but now I love them. I don't get ladders at all anymore. it does affect gauge, but my socks were always too loose, so that's actually a bonus for me. at first, I couldn't do ribbing on them, but now I can. and at first I could only do about 10 rows without my hands aching but now I can do about 4" (I'd say I'm on my 4th pair) and you can switch your grip to gives your hands a break ( like the fingers of your left hand can be either inside the sock or outside the sock). just my 2 cents worth for those who want to give it a go.
I just loved this episode!! I have bought the Susan B. Anderson class on Craftsy and am waiting for the time to watch it, and I am waiting for the Getting Started Knitting Socks book you mentioned. I love seeing all the socks and I so want to join the ride.
The acrylic sock yarn does last. I knit 2 pair of socks with acrylic because I found it for super, super cheap and the colors were nice. That was almost 10 years ago. They're still holding up great. BUT! They aren't as soft as wool is. They are machine wash and dry, sure, and you can use some fabric softener to help, but they do still feel a lot rougher than all my wool socks do. I can't wear them in summer, but they're fine in winter, and if you've got a moral objection to wool or are allergic to wool or animal fibers, acrylics are at least a way to be able to knit stuff when you wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
Hey sistas... absolutely love, love your show. Just subscribed and trying to catch up on all the previous shows. 😄 I've knit Patons Kroy socks for my grandkids. It's absolutely fine but much heavier so need to do a gauge swatch for sure. Don't follow any patterns on their website without making a swatch. I followed a pattern but it ended up massive so I ripped them out. So I've used their yarn for my heels and toes 😃 I've got that Ann Budd book but haven't tried any patterns yet... need to revisit it.
I am so happy hear you talking about budget knitting , I wonder how people can afford those yarns! I am fairly new too knitting , I am crocheter , and wanted too try knitting , I am blown away at how different they really are! the yarns you ladies use make me droll on my keyboard lol ....I am just learning socks , I have that Ann Budd book :)
Sheri Carde check out knit picks, I have used their felici, it's really soft, and easy to knit with, and it's pretty economical, 1 ball knits a mid calf sock, so you can knit a pair for less than $14 +shipping.
I am knitting my first socks, I am actually using just acrylic yarn (practice sock) I am at the gusset, I was magic looping then changed to DPN's (heel flap & gusset) because it was too confusing, so when I finish the gusset decreases I am going to put them back on my circulars (Addi turbo 32") to finish them (Vanilla Sock) I saw that book at Mary Maxim!(Ann Budd)I learn better by seeing someone do it though! Awesome podcast ladies! Lots of love from Delhi,ON Canada 🇨🇦 Marie
Patons Kroy is wool/nylon blend, not acrylic! :) I actually love knitting socks with it, especially when they're on sale at Michael's! I actually have Kroy on one set of needles and Madeline Tosh on another set right now 🤣
Another great episode T & J! I have been knitting for 10 years & just learned how to knit socks! I just finished my 4th pair of socks, WHAT have I been waiting for! Love your podcast & looking forward to your Craftsy episode later today! 🤗🤗🙋🏻
Hi Traci/Jodi, love your podcast! I've made many socks from Michael's Paton Kroy yarn and it is 75% wool and 25% nylon. And as you said it is very reasonably priced and with a coupon it is 40-50% off one ball. Lynn
I'm highly allergic to wool and we live in Florida so it's acrylic for me. I search for those with nylon. Love Hobby Lobby yarns. Evie is good. I also have found a lot with bamboo. I knit socks constantly and we throw ours in the washer and dryer....they wear like iron! I do love to look at the pretty wool though.........❤️
I love toe up socks with dpn's. I have heard the bind off is the part some find difficult to find one they like. I use jenny's super stretchy bind off BUT on needles 1 and three I do the entire jenny's bind off. On needles 2 and 4 I only use jenny's bind off on the knit stitches and just bind off the purl stitches the normal way. This way, there is a ton of stretch but the cuff doesn't flair out. All of the books you talked about are great books.
I went back and started watching all of your podcasts, I got to episode 6 and got totally excited! Traci, I am a Ravenclaw too! I want to make Ravenclaw house color socks! Lots of love from Ontario 🇨🇦 Marie
you GUYS! you make me blush! I'm pausing partway to comment. 1) I noticed your GG hello with lights right away...that cubby looks very Hollywood...quite apropos for our stars. 2) I'm hardly into the episode and I have laughed out loud so many times it's a good thing I'm home alone. 3) I love your "thing one" sock so much that now I'm inspired to knit myself a while set of Dr. Seuss socks (but not until next year because this year is the sockbash😀😀). OK, carry on!
Tracie, I just bought the same magnetic board and realized I needed the stand as well. I will be using it for needlepoint and cross stitch patterns. Love your podcast!
You are such a joy to watch! And I always learn so much. I live in Sweden but use patterns written in english. Could you please explain about yarn weight/thickness? I am totally lost when I hear fingering, worsted etc. Have a nice day!
I have knit the last 14 pairs of socks on 9in circulars (chiaogoo) and I love them. I have tried 4 needles, 5 needles, magic loop and the 9 inch. I love them, I do the cuff on Dpn or magic loop and then switch to 9in. I even do the heel on them.
I love Craftsy! I have the Susan B Anderson sock class, she is great. I also love to order yarn from them, the price is always good. And of course, I watch your show on their TH-cam channel. :-)
Hi Girls, My name is Jennie & I live in Ithaca NY. I love, love your podcast, Craftys and instagrams. I just was watching your episode & realized that you were talking about Espace Tricot. I was just there this past Saturday. We were in Montreal for the weekend. Yes, the store is lovely. The staff so friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. What a coincidence. Anyway, know that you are my far away knitting friends & provide much enjoyment for me. Keep up the good work. Thanks , Jennie T PS Have you considered a Stephen West shawl? The store has several of them displayed.
kroy is pure superwash wool and nylon . acrylic yarn lasts forever. i have things for years . the Michaels brand woollike has nylon in it and is super soft. but does get fuzzy. knitpicks has superwash merino nylon blend thats not expensive. i bought some but wanted to practice with cheap yarn first before using the good stuff. I find personally that if you start off with a cheaper yarn you don't get intimidated by knitting socks as much as if you were using expensive yarn. I only started knitting socks i march 2017 and was totally intimidated by it , well after i knitted my 1st heel flap ,gusset , i have completed to this date july 07 2017 , 6 full pairs of socks, at this point i have it mostly memorized . I have both those books i love them too .
Wish your LYS where close to mine here in Denmark so I could ran into you. Simply love to follow your podcast and crafty show, it is like a very special knit treat, when I open the computer and listen to the two of you.
I'm adding Alberta Canada to my list of places to visit someday. I'm also going to knit socks and I will follow your advice and take a class. Love "Espace Tricot" have been watching their podcast since the beginning. Thats two places I definitely want to go to in Canada. By the was that yarn that was insired by both of you "T and J" if you had just held it up and said " guess who inspired this"? everyone would have said Tracie and Jodi. I could watch you guys forever. See you on the next podcast.
Joji- when you held up those three skeins together from Nicole, the green, orange and teal, totally reminded me of Mina's Random Act of Color wrap. Those three colors together are so unexpectedly fabulous. Love you two!
I would discourage a knitter from knitting with cheap acrylic for their first pair of socks. Get the Kroy! It's a good price, but decent. I knit my first pair of socks with acrylic and they stretched out terribly so they didn't fit and it put me off sock knitting for years.
I am so sad :( I have totally caught up and have watched all of the episodes. You guys make me want to have a sister. I end up pausing the podcast dozens of times to go look at the stuff you talk about .Wax left on your vahooey cracked me up. I haven't actually seen mine in years so have NO IDEA what's down there anymore.
I tried a sock on double points but it was to fiddlely, so I went to my lys and they had just gotten the 9" needles. Finished my first pair of socks that month after 10 years as a knitter. Btw, I knit mittens all the time on dips.
OK so I had to jump in while watching.. I have paused the pod cast. I love your "brief discussion of waxing" . About 40 odd years ago a friend and I decided to bikini wax, and the story goes from bad to worse to HILARIOUS You guys had me recalling and laughing till there were tears I adore the pod cast and Never know whether to watch as soon as I get the notice you have posted, or whether to wait a bit il I need a pick me up. Love you guys
HAHA, did you ladies know that you can watch the podcast at various speeds? My 2 year old apparently changed the speed to 1.5 and i was wondering how you guys were talking without BREATHING!! hehehe
love your podcast and look forward to it!! I just have to tell you Jodi that I have big hands too, and my 9 inch chiaogoos are my go to for vanilla socks! check out staci perry's tutorial on socks on 9" circulars! saved my hands!
Loved all the sock tawk, girls. Definitely need to get my hands on that sock pattern collection, such a great theme. I'm definitely one of those people who loves short circulars. I learned to knit socks on an Addi 12"/30cm, swapping to DPN's for the heel flap/gusset and again for the last bit of the toes. Once I figured out how to do the whole sock on my 12" except for the very end of the toe decreases, I picked up a CiaoGoo 9" to try. It takes some getting used to. Your hands definitely need time to become accustomed but it's just muscle memory. So much faster than magic loop. I don't have the most dainty hands but I have no problems holding the needles.
With two German Shepherds, when we lived in Canada & the Midwest US, we called our springtime backyard "Poop Soup." It's much better in the Las Vegas desert🌵, that's for sure. I don't miss Poop Soup in the least! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I've knit the patons kroy socks and they are wool and nylon blend. Very nice too. I've worn them numerous times and great.
Woohoo! What a lot of great information and beautiful fibery stuff! Thank you!!! 💕🐑🐑💕🐑🐑💕
LOVE watching, love knitting while i watch, love the goofiness, love the bleeps, why on earth would ANYONE give a thumbs down on this loveable and funny show? You guys share the love, show the love, and love each other! Can't wait until the next one!!!

Yes!
Should have said TRUNK show, not truck show

I started my first shawl today ...A Girl from the grocery store today.....can't wait!
I will only knit socks on 9" circulars! Though I confess, it took me almost 1/2 a sock to get used to them and I nearly gave up. Absolutely love them!
I would love to meet you ladies one day. Forget celebrities, you two rock! Every time I watch your videos I wish I lived a little closer so I could afford to visit. You're so down to earth and hilarious! Thank you for bringing extra smiles to my days. Hugs from BC. :)

Hi Jodi and Tracey, love your show! I have discovered Berrocco Comfort yarns for socks. so nice and soft.
I have watched maybe 4 of your podcasts but I love you both already!! I also want all your gorgeous yarn!! lol ❤😁

Woohoo! It's double fix Friday. GG podcast and Off Our Needles! Can't get enough.
Hi Traci/Jodi, love your podcast! I've made many socks from Michael's Paton Kroy yarn and it is 75% wool and 25% nylon. And as you said it is very reasonably priced and with a coupon it is 40-50% off one ball. Lynn
Love you'll! Can hardly wait to meet and greet at the Ann Budd Retreat in November! Hubby is sending me for my 60th!!!!
Theresa Bartis Aaaaaah!! How exciting! BEST. GIFT. EVERRRRRRRR 🙌🏼❤️
Totally had to pause the episode and go purchase The Sock Knitter's Handbook on e-book. Thank you for the recommendation ladies!

So I actually laugh out loud when Jodi drops her verbal bombs and Tracie tries not to laugh! Soooo enjoyable! :)
I agree, Ann Budd's book is the best. This book is what I used to knit my first sock.
Truly enjoyed this episode 💕and totally in love with your tea/coffee mugs 😊💕 Oh, btw, love watching you two on Craftsy channel too 🤓
I love toe up socks with dpn's.
Jodi you are on fire this episode. I'm dying watching you two at work. You are 100% my favorite podcast!
I went back and started watching all of your podcasts, I got to episode 6 and got totally excited! Traci, I am a Ravenclaw too! I want to make Ravenclaw house color socks! Lots of love from Ontario 🇨🇦
Marie
I'm so glad you mentioned Casual Fashion Queen! She has some gorgeous colourways! Boogers is one of my faves!
Oops it's Ultimate Boogers ... not just any ordinary boogers! ;)
you GUYS! you make me blush!
Great way to kick off my 4 day weekend..............you two make me laugh so hard.
I am new to your podcast. I love it! I want to drink coffee (or wine) with you and chat and knit.
Tracie, I just bought the same magnetic board and realized I needed the stand as well. I will be using it for needlepoint and cross stitch patterns. Love your podcast!
Darlene Sears hi, Booth of you, wouldn it be possible to uge the iPad stand from IKEA?
Ellen Kathrine Bisgaard, I will need to check that out. I will be visiting IKEA soon.
Hi Girls,
My name is Jennie & I live in Ithaca NY. Thanks , Jennie T
PS Have you considered a Stephen West shawl?
Too funny that you were chatting about socks in this episode. I just mentioned to my daughter (Gingersnapthat) that I need to start knitting socks!
Sock Tawk was exceptional in this episode! Great job, ladies.
Knitting Pipeline Paula, thank you so much! We are pretty passionate about the socks! 😉
I agree with Paula. Just finished watching at the gym this morning. So much fun. "Smell my bag"...... LOL.
Hoy crap I live in Vermont and haven't been to that yarn store yet -must love yarn
Wish your LYS where close to mine here in Denmark so I could ran into you. Simply love to follow your podcast and crafty show, it is like a very special knit treat, when I open the computer and listen to the two of you.
HI, Lovely episode. I tried Hyahya 9" and hated the,m but love the Knitpro ones they are much longer and easier. xx
Great as usual, love the sock talk......
I so enjoy your podcasts! I was looking for the links to items you showed but can't find them.😊
I found the Ann Buds book at my library and wish it was my first book for socks. it is an awesome book.
I was just looking at that getting started book in my kindle today, guess it's going in my cart :)
Joji- when you held up those three skeins together from Nicole, the green, orange and teal, totally reminded me of Mina's Random Act of Color wrap. Those three colors together are so unexpectedly fabulous. Love you two!
Debby Reece Aren't those colors AMAZING? We remember Amina's RAC ... stunning! Thanks, Sweet Debby 💖
I'm finally caught up! Hello from Tennessee!
I use Plymouth Yarn, Encore DK for boot socks using US 4 needles. 75% acrylic and 25% wool. This way not a cost for buying needles and/or sock yarn.
Hello *waves* I'm dinosaurs_and_petticoats on Instagram, thank you so much for the win!!! I love your podcast :)
Patons Kroy is a wool nylon blend. I think it is a beautiful, affordable sock yarn. Also sock yarn at Knit picks is very affordable.
Jodi said "I still have wax......" and I'm DYING!!!! Lmao. Love it!
I tried a sock on double points but it was to fiddlely, so I went to my lys and they had just gotten the 9" needles. Finished my first pair of socks that month after 10 years as a knitter. Btw, I knit mittens all the time on dips.
Dang autocorrect. DPNs
OK so I had to jump in while watching.. I have paused the pod cast. I love your "brief discussion of waxing" . About 40 odd years ago a friend and I decided to bikini wax, and the story goes from bad to worse to HILARIOUS You guys had me recalling and laughing till there were tears
I adore the pod cast and Never know whether to watch as soon as I get the notice you have posted, or whether to wait a bit il I need a pick me up. Love you guys
Love your mugs !!
Light bulb moment !!!!! Thank you !!!!!
You ladies rock!
Does Magic Loop come in different sizes and, if so, what size should I buy ? Thanks!
With two German Shepherds, when we lived in Canada & the Midwest US, we called our springtime backyard "Poop Soup." It's much better in the Las Vegas desert🌵, that's for sure. I don't miss Poop Soup in the least! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
