  • Continuing on with the Fallen Oak stave snare drum project, I show you the inner milling of the oak snare drum. It goes okay, and then it doesn't. But I'm sure I will find a way to fix my mistakes in later videos!
Sorry, no upbeat music in this one. I kept it low key and just narrated over the top of my silent video clips, adding a super mellow TH-cam provided mood music track underneath it all. It's quite haunting...also, was way easier this way.
I plan at least 1 more video to wrap up the series. Subscribe to my channel!

I would put springs on your top mounted castor mechanism that way it has constant pressure pushing against the drum

I`ve found that i get better results when i move the router with the staves back and forth with a rounded tip router bit. Eliminates alot of the hazzel turning the shell while you rout against the grain.

Hi Fredrik, thanks for the comment. I should look into that. The inner milling is my least favorite step in drum building. I have made improvements since the time of this video, but it still is not as problem-free as I would like it to be!

I also would choose a cove bit for the inside.

Thanks! I did try a spring solution but still had trouble. Now I use a cargo strap to hold the drum in place and it's been going very well! Thank you for the nice comment!
