  • Install a true plug-and-play rear backup light for your Polaris Ranger. Step-by-step instructions of mounting this are reviewed. These lights offer incredibly bright light while in reverse allowing a much better and safer view of what's behind you.

    Thanks for the video. The Polaris wiring diagram actually says it’s for a backup beeper, but I’m going to try a light like you did. Do you know what the other plug next to it is for? Thanks!

      Hi Ben, thanks for your comment! I will have to check out with the other plug is next to it because I’m not sure at this point. Thanks for calling me in on that. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.

    Great vid. Better than most. I have a 2023 Ranger Xp 1000 crew and the muffler is right where you put that light. Any mounting suggestions due to the muffler placement? Thanks

      Hey buddy, thanks for your nice comment. I’m at a loss where else to put it. That ball right in the center is such a logical excellent place. I have to search for another opening so I could mount it with a bolt somewhere near the center so the light works best. Not sure? Thanks Joe.

    Question! Does a 2013 Polaris ranger 800 have a backup lite plug.

      Hi Larry, thanks for your question. I honestly don’t know the answer to that. If that is your vehicle, you can simply look to see if his present. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.

    Does it stay dimly lit when not in reverse like everyone is saying occurs?

      @@JosephHunstad Actually yours did light dimly when not in reverse, when you started it and was running. Looked like a extremely simple idea, but I do not want it glowing all the time when running

      @@bcpioneer59 you are absolutely right it does stay dimly lit. I think that’s inherent in the switch and will be difficult to fix. I don’t have a good answer for that. Sorry take care Joe

      Interestingly, all of the rocker switches that I have installed for various operations are illuminated when the ignition is turned on.

      @@JosephHunstadyou would need to install a relay between the light and the ranger wiring. There are videos on TH-cam explaining the process

    Where did you get back bumper?

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a wild boar rear bumper
      I purchased mine from super ATV parts, but it’s available at other sources. It’s excellent, except that when the bed is fully tipped, it does engage with the rear tires consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.

    Just like the others, the light comes on when to turn the key. It's dim but it's on.

      Thank you Chris for your comment. It’s interesting that many relays such as this have a very small voltage continuously going through the circuit. If there was an incandescent bulb connected to the seat would not illuminate. Because the LEDs require so little energy to light up, they do. Interestingly, in our home, we have electronic switches with dimmers, and when I replaced the incandescent bulbs with LEDs, they remain on, although dimly lit, all the time. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.

      Because it's meant for a .5 Amp back up beeper. It's not intended for a light, without a relay.

    No relay?

      Thank you for your question. No there are no release for this late it is already wired into the system using that plug and play connection.

    This is not the proper way to run a reverse light. Its actually a bigger draw on the ecu then its intended for.

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Travis, you are probably right. There is a continuous current draw on that area as you can tell because the lamp remain slightly illuminated. I keep my vehicle on a battery tender at all time so I don’t have any battery rundown but it’s a potential issue. It is the method of connection described in the product unfortunately and that’s the way that many people are using it. Thank you for your great comment. Astute. Take care. Joe.
