59:23 in Batman No. 13, Robin even gets an autograph from Jerry Siegel "the creator of Superman" the same Superman that Batman has already had adventures with!
For my headcanon I just put every Timm style Earth in the same multiversal cluster. So the Timmverse, Gods and Monsters, Cape Crusader, the comics that aren't canon all in their own mini multiverse
The way I view it, BTAS is the Pre-Crisis DCAU. A Crisis on Infinite Earths happened between BTAS and STAS (not the adaptation) which is why Wally is The DCAU Flash. However, they managed to instantly go straight to a new multiverse, rather than one Earth. Meanwhile, Caped Crusader is the Earth-2 of the Pre-Crisis DCAU. Fleischer Superman _is_ the same universe, but it will never cross over.
the way i see it i like to think that btas is post crisis dcau in terms of the tone of the stories but the actual stories of btas are based off the bronze age. i just think of bronze age and post crisis batman as pretty much the same person, and btas' batman fits both the criterias, but i say post crisis more cause you can also make the argument that superfriends was the one who had a crisis and got turned into the dcau
It makes more sense that Caped Crusader is just Earth 2, overall. Like, I do agree that Crisis happened. But, I believe that this was between Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, with the canned Crisis of Two Worlds. I believe - whatever similar events occurred - this is where changes to timelines occurred, resulting in Wally West as the Flash of DCAU.
@ Nah, Bronze Age and Post-Crisis Batman have a 15ish year gap. Crisis was 1985, Bronze Age started in 1970. Like, all of the original Ra's stories are Pre-Crisis stories. The original Batwoman actually ends up killed by Ra's in the last of the Pre-Crisis Ra's stories in the comics. Same thing with the Laughing Fish, Pre-Crisis. So I'm thinking that at the time of BTAS, BTAS is Earth-1 and Caped Crusader is Earth-2. After BTAS ends, Crisis happens. This is why the art style, tone, and technology level rapidly change between BTAS and STAS/TNBA. However, rather than rebooting into the New Earth setup they had Post-Crisis to Infinite Crisis, instead we have either a 52 or an Infinite multiverse as soon as the Crisis ends. They didn't fail quite as badly as the comic equivalent did, either they were able to do things so differently that it birthed a new multiverse or they saved 52 Earths. This also includes the Post-Nuclear Earth of the Justice Guild, which is very important actually. We only see a sliver of it in JL, but DC having a Post-Nuclear Earth is an important part of the DC Multiverse. In Justice League Adventures #30, we see Kamandi. He is from a post-apocalyptic Earth. This is a logical explanation of where he's from: The Justice Guild Earth. DCAU Kamandi comes from the Justice Guild universe, his events and the animal people are just elsewhere. The Atomic Knights could also exist in the Justice Guild universe, tho we never see them in the DCAU. But they're knights in armor that ride giant dalmatians. So they should exist.
Great video James. ❤ When you got the part about My Adventure with Superman I thought you were gonna say that they were set in the same universe 80 years apart, but what you did instead makes a lot of sence.
it's great. James did his homework, the editing team did a great job with the "BTAS-to-BCC" transitions, and it got good laughs outta me. Serum Lake being dark James is top notch. ngl the Fleischer Superman shorts look fun. I might check em out
I'm choosing to believe it's cannon to the Fleischer-verse. It fits too well for me, Although the multiverse with My Adventures with Superman is a cool idea. I don't need a crossover or the creators to say it's canon for it to be true in my heart. Also where did you get that physicak copy of BCC?
What you said about OSWALDA Cobblepot were my exact thoughts, when I first saw her debut. I thought "surely, she must have another son named after her and HE may end up becoming the Penguin we all know"
Such an awesome video. I had so much fun watching! My jaw actually dropped when you brought up the fletcher cartoons. I also was especially impressed by the creative and smooth transitions all throughout. Yall should be proud of yourselves on this one. I'm excited for whats to come!
My theory has been that the DCAU had their own Crisis on Infinite Earths which spawned The New Batman Adventures i.e. JL version of their universe. Barry exists, we just never see them talk about missing him on-camera. Or, ya know, any other universe altering even, like Flashpoint.
That episode came out years before the Flashpoint comic. "Flashpoint" is also a word 😅 and clever wordplay at that, considering that season of JLU led us to believe The Flash might die
Even though I had read the interviews when they released, I always just took it as a new take on the Batman mythos that was like BTAS since it was going back to the more grounded Batman stories akin to Bill Finger’s Golden Age stories. Just like how BTAS was a love letter to the Bronze Age, TNBA took much inspiration from Post-Crisis & the Silver Age, and Brave and the Bold was a super-fan project of Silver Age/Pre-Crisis Batman, this was a heavily inspired work of the Golden Age Batman

Alright. I’m gonna get on my soapbox, ‘cause y’know what? Interconnected universes aren’t a fad, they’re smart storytelling. "It's the 90s..." Lmao I can't decide if this is an intentional nod to Ryan George's "The 90s Talk Show" by playing the theme music he used while discussing 90s era batman or if it was just a coincidental royalty free music choice lol
Y'know I was really never gonna watch the Crisis movies because the art style really wasn't my thing, but after this I might check them out. Also, what I loved about Caped Crusader was how it allowed Batman to actually have a character arc and grow.

I’ve always loved it’s all apart of a massive multiverse. At some point the caped crusader will appear in a multiverse crossover. And it’s like the dark knight, it’s its own thing
Every story that survives through history is periodically translated, refreshed, re-contextualised, and reinvented. It's what keeps concepts and characters alive. I never understand backlash against trying something new. Like Kevin Smith said years ago, every Batman is somebody's Batman.
Lovely, We'd all love to here from you Watchtower during BCC's s2 breakout till then thank you very much, I appreciate the work you do here, You make comics 10x the fun
Didn't know how to feel about mama Penguin, but i was so hooked on the show after the Clayface ep and almost shed a tear, when Harvey died. Lovely content!
It must be remembered that BTAS’s producers were directed to make the show adjacent to the continuity of the live-action Tim Burton / Joel Schumacher movies. BCC, not handcuffed with that direction, is of course never going to canon because of that freedom.
I loved watching this, it was like a mini movie. Now Myxe-James is a new favorite of mine, along with Etri-James. Can't wait to see what video you cook up next.

"It's the 90s..." Lmao I can't decide if this is an intentional nod to Ryan George's "The 90s Talk Show" by playing the theme music he used while discussing 90s era batman or if it was just a coincidental royalty free music choice lol
Loved caped crusader. Don’t get the hate. It was so fun. I hope it gets another season.
Season 2 is on the way!
LOL, the bit that ended on the Myxzicspitalyk pop!
Y'know I was really never gonna watch the Crisis movies because the art style really wasn't my thing, but after this I might check them out. Also, what I loved about Caped Crusader was how it allowed Batman to actually have a character arc and grow.
The DCAU Batman had a character Arc as well. But I like how Caped Crusaders Batman Arc is completely different.
9:40 oh my goodness the "it's the 90s" Ryan George music
I have absolutely no desire to watch Caped Crusader but I still watched this entire video.
One of my favourite channels, gosh darn its impressive how everyone throws these together with tons of detail and hard work 10/10 team another wicked video
"It came and is smoking a cigarette."😂😂
Dude, the writing for these Will It Canon videos is so well done. Love the editing and acting, too!
Thank you guys so much for taking a long , detective style, look into Cape crusader! I absolutely loved it and enjoyed all it's a little Easter eggs and viewing in general! This is not BTAS, and it doesn't have to be! I enjoyed this immersion, different takes ( i love Oswanda/Harley) and have been going back rewatching it over and over ( at least do they make a Blu-ray/DVD announcement!). Can't wait to see what they're going to do in the future but thank you guys once again for making such a great video! It was well worth the wait and even Serum Lake gave a great recommendation to you guys! ( which, trust me, I was going to watch once I have the time anyway!)
I was hoping you would be able prove the bill flicher Shorts canon. I love them
Oh, by the way, Batman Caped Crusader is good. Different but good.
Fair to point out that the Fleischers did NOT make that one, lol.
Love how this episode of Will It Canon includes an unhinged rant about how people should shut the fuck up about canon. Says it all
You need to check out our "Batman and Harley Quinn" episode too, then ;)
WE ARE BACK!!!!!!!!
I really don't know what to type for youtube engagement lol
Lovely, We'd all love to here from you Watchtower during BCC's s2 breakout till then thank you very much, I appreciate the work you do here, You make comics 10x the fun
Didn't know how to feel about mama Penguin, but i was so hooked on the show after the Clayface ep and almost shed a tear, when Harvey died. Lovely content!
We need a “will it cannon?” Episode of “Batman Vengeance” the video game
An hour long video? Let's do this 😎
Another awesome vid!
Thank you!
THANK YOU FOR SWAYING WHAT I ALWAYS WNATED TO SAY ABOUT THAT QUOTE!!! I love your channel so much. Keep up the great work!!
i swear these videos always come when i most needed
It must be remembered that BTAS’s producers were directed to make the show adjacent to the continuity of the live-action Tim Burton / Joel Schumacher movies. BCC, not handcuffed with that direction, is of course never going to canon because of that freedom.
Ironically it was more mature than the Schumacher movies.
I really liked Caped Crusader. Not sure why there is so much hate for it.
Another excellent video! Always love hearing fellow fans gush about the things they love!
Nah not the “One Skip = one less meal” bro
I've been waiting for this! Thanks again, Watchtower!
I saw the short about the DCAU not being destroyed, I never considered about people not seeing it and commenting about it. That must be so annoying /:
I have no doubt it is.
Look I’m sorry, but we need more things like Brave and the Bold
Some guy in a podcast told me to go watch this
I don't know how I missed this ABSOLUTE PEAK!
AMAZING VIDEO as per usual Watchtower!!!
A more idealized 40's where Gotham isn't segregated
I loved watching this, it was like a mini movie. Now Myxe-James is a new favorite of mine, along with Etri-James. Can't wait to see what video you cook up next.
Barbara and Jim Gordon are literally completely different races/skin colors in Crusader than in BTAS
ah fair enough lol
Artistic interpretation. The hues of certain suits are changed across actual canon. And let us not forget the cheekbones.
@ Those can be explained. Swapping races can’t.
And,uh,caped crusader takes place in the 1940's.@@Ked7
@@theantitroll Yeah there really isn't much precedence for swapping races via artstyle in the exact same continuity. The closest being The Simpsons with Smithers and that was literally an accident. Pretty everyone in the DCAU has a canon ethnicity.
Me waiting for the notification since James announced the video was out in the podcast 🫠
