In response to the description, the morse code also appears in the real world recycle area. Listen to track 126 from the OST "Recycling Really Is a Concept" and you'll hear it. Morse code is at about 1000hz if you want to try and isolate it for easier hearing, it's a bit noisy as the song has notes in that range as well.

If I remember correctly, I think Basil says something along the lines of "I won't let you continue this cycle any longer" near the end of the hikikomori route, suggesting that headspace has been looping multiple times, so I was thinking that although it's the recycultist propaganda that's being said here, maybe it can be interpreted another way since this is in Black Space 2. Or maybe Omocat was just messing with us, who knows. I mean, Herosaurus exists in Black Space so like-
I like this interpretation from a poetic standpoint, especially how it plays with the line "Without recycling, you are nothing." Without resetting HEADSPACE, as we get to see in the true route, OMORI literally evaporates and becomes nothing.

Honestly I think Kel running aimlessly is a symbolism to how Sunny's headspace is aimlessly looping, in an attempt to repress the memories, even though it is pointless, since the truth always finds ways to leak into headspace.

It seems a little far-fetched, but my working theory is that the Recycultists broadcast this message in Faraway, Sunny hears it at some point in his childhood, gets spooked by not understanding what he's hearing, and due to his perfect memory, never forgets it.

It kinda sounds like a mantra Sunny repeats to himself in the text pattern. This is a response to everyone saying you can find this Morse code thing in the demo. Has anyone thought that the demos might be the previous cycles of Sunnys headspace dream world? Wasn't it two demos too? Saying that the path to the truth that tore it's way in was moved from two location in headspace and the game was the third time. So what if this massage fell into blacker space after a reset?
Just a theory but maybe the message means “recycling” as in Sunny going back to the dream world everyday “recycling” his old memories into fun adventures to forget his current problems.

As many proposed, the radio could be a representation of Sunny frantically and desperately hyperfixating on recycling to distract himself and ignore the truth (much like everything else in his dreams). There's mostly chill music, belonging in Headspace, then some spooky ambience, perfect Black Space, and Sunny's part from the duet, the truth, that is ultimately in the background, with his hyperfixation in the foreground. The distorted noises between the music pieces could be one of two things. One - it's Sunny. As someone who can't stand certain noises and thoughts, sometimes I cover my ears, and let out incoherent vocal sounds, just any kinds of sounds to muffle the stressor. I have no struggle picturing Sunny, huddled in the corner of his room, making these exact distorted noises, as if he was a senseless infant, just to deafen himself to his thoughts. This is him hopping over every segment whenever it gets boring or when the truth threatens to resurface. And two - it's Mari. The real one. As always, her spirit is clawing through the layers of imagination, and calling out to Sunny with all her might so that he will listen, so that he will forgive himself, so that he will embrace the truth and her, so that he will move on. But he just plays more music, and thinks about recycling recycling recycling, recycling his memories, recycling his feelings, recycling his friends, recycling Headspace, recycling through the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. And he will regress with each new loop, until he is that black-and-white stone-cold boy, forever living in his own head. It's upsetting.
This way... way less dark or lore expanding than I thought it would be. No like secret messages of guilt, hidden ARG shenanigans, or a message from Mari. Just... recycling. Alrighty then.

I feel dumb because I translated as much as ‘cycle’ and thought it had something to do with bikes. That’s why I looked up this video. Good stuff and a question answered.
So here's my take on this, my own theorypasta: Sunny IRL is bombarded with recycle this, recycle that "propaganda" as a lot of modern day kids are, and if you go through the normal route, Sunny daydreams of fighting the "Recycultists" who are basically a made up cult of recycle-maniacs of some kind. This to me, is Sunny just being annoyed at all the recycling propaganda that he sees and hears, the constant reminders of recycle this, recycle that, gotta recycle! etc. Well, maybe in the Hikikomori route, somewhere tucked away in the back of his mind, are these thoughts about recycling that just pop up in his mind now and then. Heck, you even see some of it in the junkyard even in the normal route with the recycling machine, and the absurdity of picking up every little can and piece of cardboard and dumping it in the recycling machine to get rewards.
Not a bad theory, but I was certain the Recycultists were actually real? The last day dungeon with them is a daydream, sure, but during the other days, you can talk to the Recycultists and hear about their worldview, and even find the leader's room in Faraway Town.
@@CalebKlomparens Does Kel or any other NPC react to their presence? Remember: Sunny can hallucinate like he's on LSD. You see Headspace stuff in the real world on regular basis, and Sunny's hallucinations are powerful enough to erase the closet door from existence. If Kel, nor anybody else reacts to the Recycultists' presence, then they could be hallucinations, too. The recycle lady is probably real, but I'm really questioning whether or not the cultists are actually real, or part of his imagination. And besides: If there's so much Trash laying around in Faraway Park and other nearby places, then what are the cultists actually _doing,_ then? Wouldn't they be picking this stuff up?

It's tucked away in the deeper version of black space, and though you can technically reach this place on a normal playthrough, it's extremely unlikely without explicitly not opening the door to Kel on the first day.

I just realised this. In the part where concept (kinda) ends in the morse code, you can hear SUNNY's violin part of the duet with MARI play in the background.
at first i thought it was the recycultists but maybe they/SOMETHING/MARI wants to have the player restart the dream so they could interact more and forget about the problems in life
If we were to take this morse seriously, then it proposes the question of how old the recycultists are and when he heard it before. And why is it in black space to be repressed?
@@Charlakin it could be too revealing to the DREAMER to remember the cyclical nature of HEADSPACE, and that could be a reason why OMORI hides this memory away. Though, as it is encoded in Morse, do OMORI or SUNNY even know how to decode the message? If not, there is no reason to repress it, that is, other than maybe the segment at the end with the final duet violin. This exact recording plays in the overworld, that has to mean something.
The only other one I know of is the SOMETHING txt file you can get. What was it called again . . . ? A file name along the likes of "www blah blah For Sunny.txt"?
Everyone is saying about "recycling" the dreamworld but I am thinking of something different. How about those are just convoluted memories patched up together? So when he went so deep into his own brain, he started connecting random events like how we see the recycling tents and the guys with the "?" I found this game 3 months ago and I loved it, I have cPTSD, for me, the concept of recycling is being trapped in the loop of reliving the moments when you were happy before all the bad things happened, trapping yourself alone in your room, or like in the game... trap yourself in your mental space reliving the moments in which you were happy by remembering them, "when you recycle you are nothing", trap yourself forever in those moments instead of facing reality you end up getting stuck in the past and you cannot and do not want to continue with your life since the future is now cold and traumatic compared to the past.
I am 17 years old, I suffered 10 years of child abuse and 8 years of bullying... at least this is what I can interpret based on my experiences, the last two years of high school I was absent almost every day since I preferred to be alone in my room, listening to music and playing with my imagination, by getting stuck and recycling the past over and over again I didn't realize that I was wasting time and doing nothing "when you recycle, you are nothing."
Furthermore, the concept of sleeping in omori can be taken literally or as mental space or imagination, because in my case, sleeping is the only time of the day where nothing that I experienced had happened and I am creating new adventures in my dream.

This is a response to everyone saying you can find this Morse code thing in the demo.
Has anyone thought that the demos might be the previous cycles of Sunnys headspace dream world? Wasn't it two demos too?
Saying that the path to the truth that tore it's way in was moved from two location in headspace and the game was the third time. So what if this massage fell into blacker space after a reset?

It really kills me that this Morse code is also present in the demo version, which was two years ago....
Just a theory but maybe the message means “recycling” as in Sunny going back to the dream world everyday “recycling” his old memories into fun adventures to forget his current problems.

Somebody probably already commented this but when I hear the word "recycle" from this game, it may deeply mean as to reset dream world and enjoy it while it lasts(like what I saw in some comments here), or it's probably a concept of sort that his forgotten memories of the real world are recycled into the dream world. Just like how captain spaceboy is a fictional character in the real world and is recycled into captain spaceboy chasing after sweetheart in the dream world, or like some secondary characters in the dream world who turns out to be Sunny's old stuff toys/characters from books he read like Humphrey/people in the real world(like Kim=Berly, and etc.)

As many proposed, the radio could be a representation of Sunny frantically and desperately hyperfixating on recycling to distract himself and ignore the truth (much like everything else in his dreams). There's mostly chill music, belonging in Headspace, then some spooky ambience, perfect Black Space, and Sunny's part from the duet, the truth, that is ultimately in the background, with his hyperfixation in the foreground.
The distorted noises between the music pieces could be one of two things. One - it's Sunny. As someone who can't stand certain noises and thoughts, sometimes I cover my ears, and let out incoherent vocal sounds, just any kinds of sounds to muffle the stressor. I have no struggle picturing Sunny, huddled in the corner of his room, making these exact distorted noises, as if he was a senseless infant, just to deafen himself to his thoughts. This is him hopping over every segment whenever it gets boring or when the truth threatens to resurface.
And two - it's Mari. The real one. As always, her spirit is clawing through the layers of imagination, and calling out to Sunny with all her might so that he will listen, so that he will forgive himself, so that he will embrace the truth and her, so that he will move on. But he just plays more music, and thinks about recycling recycling recycling, recycling his memories, recycling his feelings, recycling his friends, recycling Headspace, recycling through the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. And he will regress with each new loop, until he is that black-and-white stone-cold boy, forever living in his own head. It's upsetting.

I’m pretty sure it’s how sunnys whole headspace is made from recycling his good childhood memories and that without them he would be nothing, and have nothing to keep him going
Everyone's talking about how this could have some deep meaning with Sunny "recycling" Headspace when really it's probably just Sunny's unconscious creating more stuff from reality into dreams or something.

I feel dumb because I translated as much as ‘cycle’ and thought it had something to do with bikes. That’s why I looked up this video. Good stuff and a question answered.

So here's my take on this, my own theorypasta:
Sunny IRL is bombarded with recycle this, recycle that "propaganda" as a lot of modern day kids are, and if you go through the normal route, Sunny daydreams of fighting the "Recycultists" who are basically a made up cult of recycle-maniacs of some kind. This to me, is Sunny just being annoyed at all the recycling propaganda that he sees and hears, the constant reminders of recycle this, recycle that, gotta recycle! etc. Well, maybe in the Hikikomori route, somewhere tucked away in the back of his mind, are these thoughts about recycling that just pop up in his mind now and then. Heck, you even see some of it in the junkyard even in the normal route with the recycling machine, and the absurdity of picking up every little can and piece of cardboard and dumping it in the recycling machine to get rewards.
Not a bad theory, but I was certain the Recycultists were actually real? The last day dungeon with them is a daydream, sure, but during the other days, you can talk to the Recycultists and hear about their worldview, and even find the leader's room in Faraway Town.
@@CalebKlomparens Does Kel or any other NPC react to their presence? Remember: Sunny can hallucinate like he's on LSD. You see Headspace stuff in the real world on regular basis, and Sunny's hallucinations are powerful enough to erase the closet door from existence. If Kel, nor anybody else reacts to the Recycultists' presence, then they could be hallucinations, too. The recycle lady is probably real, but I'm really questioning whether or not the cultists are actually real, or part of his imagination.
And besides: If there's so much Trash laying around in Faraway Park and other nearby places, then what are the cultists actually _doing,_ then? Wouldn't they be picking this stuff up?
@@Dhalin Ah, very good point. So does that make this recording in reality yet another hallucination? I find it hard to believe the protagonist translated these subliminal messages into morse.

It's tucked away in the deeper version of black space, and though you can technically reach this place on a normal playthrough, it's extremely unlikely without explicitly not opening the door to Kel on the first day.

@@amaikurusu188 idk, but you can choose to not open the door for kel on the second day, and it counts as hikikomori route while still being able to access the "mari is home" place, which was previously thought to be a sunny route exclusive

If we were to take this morse seriously, then it proposes the question of how old the recycultists are and when he heard it before. And why is it in black space to be repressed?
@@Charlakin it could be too revealing to the DREAMER to remember the cyclical nature of HEADSPACE, and that could be a reason why OMORI hides this memory away. Though, as it is encoded in Morse, do OMORI or SUNNY even know how to decode the message? If not, there is no reason to repress it, that is, other than maybe the segment at the end with the final duet violin. This exact recording plays in the overworld, that has to mean something.

Everyone is saying about "recycling" the dreamworld but I am thinking of something different. How about those are just convoluted memories patched up together? So when he went so deep into his own brain, he started connecting random events like how we see the recycling tents and the guys with the "?" Heads telling him that if he doesn't recycle he is nothing
I found this game 3 months ago and I loved it, I have cPTSD, for me, the concept of recycling is being trapped in the loop of reliving the moments when you were happy before all the bad things happened, trapping yourself alone in your room, or like in the game... trap yourself in your mental space reliving the moments in which you were happy by remembering them, "when you recycle you are nothing", trap yourself forever in those moments instead of facing reality you end up getting stuck in the past and you cannot and do not want to continue with your life since the future is now cold and traumatic compared to the past.
I am 17 years old, I suffered 10 years of child abuse and 8 years of bullying... at least this is what I can interpret based on my experiences, the last two years of high school I was absent almost every day since I preferred to be alone in my room, listening to music and playing with my imagination, by getting stuck and recycling the past over and over again I didn't realize that I was wasting time and doing nothing "when you recycle, you are nothing."
Furthermore, the concept of sleeping in omori can be taken literally or as mental space or imagination, because in my case, sleeping is the only time of the day where nothing that I experienced had happened and I am creating new adventures in my dream.
Well, in January I will receive medication from my psychiatrist for panic attacks and I will try to do better in my studies.
