Cat hair is a fact of life. I bought a new chair for my patio with dark pillows. My one cat *adores* it! My aunt looked at the generous layer of white hair he’d left and commented it should probably have been light? Sure… If he wasn’t as much brown, yellow and black as white… ;)
It's the way of things. If you have dark fabric, you'll find all the light cat hair. Light clothes? Your cat suddenly becomes a void. Even grey isn't immune to the recessive few orange hairs that somehow sneak out of your cat... 😆

I have Hashimotos and temperature regulation in my body is non-existent so this heatwave we are getting in Ontario is keeping me housebound as much as possible. I recently bought a swing for my backyard so I can at least get some fresh air but haven't been able to use it all week because the humidity and heat immediately makes me unable to breathe and drains the little energy I have, even in the shade. I also get very flushed when it is warm. I do have AC in the house but just got my bill for the last month and wanted to cry, but without it I wouldn't be able to move at all. I have been having to try and find natural fibre clothes because plastic makes me overheat. I need loose and breathable as well. I prefer thrifting clothes but plus size breathable stuff doesn't seem to exist in my area. Won't buy Shein and it seems to be filling thrifts stores lately. Loved the embroidery, btw. I agree with the needing more black witch dresses. I want to make some clothes for myself but my weight is weird due to my autoimmune diseases so I am worried I will make something and it won't fit.
I can definitely recommend the Liseron top by Wildflower Design and the Winslow Culottes (with elastic waistband hack) by Helen's Closet for anyone who wants to make cute clothes but has body fluctuation issues. They make a cute outfit and are very adjustable. Sorry the weather is being EXTRA in Ontario this year!!
Oh sorry to hear that you have hashimotos. The temperature regulation really sucks. My skin is doing weird things right now too. Weird rashes and itchy under the skin. Dr google says anything from psoriasis to a thyroid issue like I need another. Been waiting for my appointment forever it’s next week! Here’s hoping that the weather in Ontario breaks soon. I haven’t seen my hydro bill yet but it’s going to be bad! I’m so tired of melting! I with you on the not wanting to put too much into clothes the weight fluctuates are crazy. I think of lovely things to make then pause cause of weight. I think I’m going to try some of the patterns recommended here. With luck we might actually get a doctor that wants to talk about hashimotos and not just what our tsh is doing!
@@robintheparttimesewer6798 Sorry to hear you are also suffering. It took me over 15 years, and having to be put off work, to finally get a diagnosis. My doctor never considered Hashimotos, just thought I needed to lose weight, drink more water and walk more. All of which I was trying to do but nothing worked and I kept getting worse and worse. Didn't help that I was reactive to an inactive ingredient in all commercial thryoid meds which was making everything worse. Had to request to be sent to a specialist and the specialist did an antibody test and discovered I had Hashimotos, I had antibodies in my system, showing my immune system was attacking my thyroid. If possible, it may be a good idea to ask for a thyroid antibody test along with TSH test. Not sure what the exact name of test is. If you haven't been tested for gluten intolerance yet, may also be a good idea to ask for that as well. I have had skin issues for a decade and discovered part of that was linked to celiac disease. I had been given all the creams for psoriasis/eczema and nothing was working because I was celiac and didn't know it. I'm not a doctor, and everyone is different when it comes to autoimmune diseases, but I tend to share my own experience because it shouldn't take almost 2 decades to get a diagnosis. If I can help someone else get diagnosed earlier, they hopefully won't end up as damaged as I am. I wish I had known of these tests a long time ago. Personally I think these two test should be done if thryoid issues are suspected because Hashimotos is different than just hypo/hyperthryoidism and gluten can cause all kind of issues if you are sensitive to it/celiac, at least in my experience. Hope you can find some relief soon. It is frustrating going to the doctors. Every appt stresses me out because of being dismissed so much for so long.
@@ArawynnEveningstar darn that story hurts! I was told I had a low thyroid in 1997. When we moved to southern Ontario I thought things would be easier but no. Got a specialist and asked for testing for hashimotos but he said I probably had it but it wasn’t relevant. I’m so very tired of changing meds and my tsh going up and down. I have a new internal medicine doctor I will ask him at my next appointment. So far he has actually listened to me such a surprise. You’re the first person I’ve met who has a formal diagnosis. I have plans to try and get a handle on things or at least try. Unfortunately right now I don’t have the energy to start. It’s frustrating it’s been 27 years and I’m still on a roller coaster
@@MaireColcloughlet me tell you here in nova Scotia we currently have heat warnings, again. It is also incredibly humid, like a bloody sauna with mosquitoes. When I lived here in the 90s our Montreal air conditioner sat in a closet. This new house has a blessed heat pump. In fact it has 2, one for each floor. The things dehumidife too! And heat in the winter.
AZ resident here - SO understand the “too hot for clothes”. Our overnight low is supposed to be 91F 😳 Here’s to breathable fabric. And indoor hibernation. And yes - you post, I watch!
I worked at fabricland in Alberta for over 5 years and clearance is the way to go! Check out all the locations not just your local one, bcs we'd ship the 'good stuff' of clearance off to whichever location sold the best
When I saw the clearance section expanding, I asked one of the employees what was going on. They let me know that our location has been designated the clearance location for Calgary. I don't doubt there are good finds at the other locations, this one is just the easiest to get to (and I'm thankful it has the huge clearance section it does!)
@MaireColclough awesome! Yeah, we used to send and trade stock all over. My store got quitting cotton, being close to the clearance store is great luck :)
Before hearing your woes with your skin, I was thinking how lovely it was. The luminosity of your skin is beautiful, how unfair it is that it also causing you pain. Great shirt as well, than you for the inspiration
Would love to see some mushrooms or flowers on the collar. Think the sleeve embroidery idea is great. A frog closure would make that imto a great jacket.
in this house its cat, dog and bunny fur in EVERYTHING, mostly dog. labs shed a surprising amount, we chase drifts of fluffs all the time. on the fabric i am dismantling a duvet cover a nice chunk of black and red shot material and some gold stuff.
I trained my lab to let me vacuum her with the round brush like attachment! Why wait for it to dust bunny when you can get it from the source. She was so excited when I pulled out the vacuum had to do her first!
We still occasionally find dog hair from my brother's last trip down. And the cats are just going into shedding overdrive. The lighter of the two buried one of their cat trees in fur, to the point where I couldn't use the handheld vacuum and had to go for the Dyson 😁
This is my first time watching your channel, and I absolutely loved the blouse you sewed! Your sense of humor is fantastic, and you look amazing in that blouse 😍. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos! Sending love from Morocco 🇲🇦✨
I will make a deal with you. You keep making things you like and want to wear, and I will keep watching. I love your videos, I learn helpful things, and I enjoy the content and your sense of humor. Girl scout tip, put a cold, wet bandana on your neck and you will feel cooler.
Oh wow so cute! Sorry you're suffering with your mystery affliction. It's funny I was admiring how well the yoke and shoulders fit in the reveal so was surprised when you said it was too small! I look forwarded to the next version!
I really love your beautiful embroidery. Whimsical and nature are a lovely combo. I never wear make up or dye my hair anymore as I developed multiple, adult onset serious allergies in my late 30’s. Never wore much apart from gothic stuff anyway. I have epi pens and a long list of nopes but I still can have kitties. I loved dark colours only in my youth but have branched out a bit. My skin, when not inflamed, is so pale I am always accused of being anaemic when this is just my natural shade. My mother is an olive skinned, cloth kits and Laura Ashley type. The horrors of having gothic, ugly dressing daughter. Hated it when I would get compliments in front of her from people who liked my different style. I think your style is lovely and more importantly you like it.
That is a cute blouse, and you look cute in it! I love the embroidery. On the cooking thing , we moved our cooker outside while we do up the kitchen, and boy! was that a good move in our current heat wave!
@@MaireColclough set it up for a video and loudly announce that your going to film getting into them. That way the camera shy spiders 😆 will vacate before you start and it will be uneventful. You can always delete the footage afterwards.
All the wonderfulness. You are just trying to get us all into spooky season mood with your little spider escapade. I think putting the mushroom motif on the sleeve cuffs would be completely charming. Rotisserie chickens are brilliant when the temp soars. The blouse looks lovely on you. I often wear an open shirt over a tank top. Very flattering. Enjoy the upcoming week, they are calling for clouds, rain, and high teens. Take care.
I will watch you make whatever you want to wear even if it is the same black witchy dress a hundred times. You make me happy. The salad sounds great. I ❤LOVE your embroidery! Adorable and well stitched. I am allergic to polyester (or as my mom called it "poly and her evil twin ester") so clothes, bedding, and stuffed animals made me turn into a rough red skinned pile of misery as a child...and as an adult I am the pickiest person about clothing and bedding fibers. And when I find something that works...I wear the same things over and over
I really feel the pickiness over clothing and bedding fibres. The Husbeast and I have a run-on joke that I'm an escapee from The Princess and The Pea. I hope you've been able to find the fabrics that work for you so you're not stuck in allergy city!
@MaireColclough omg! As a kid my mom used to joke that I was the princess in the pea! Because I could literally wake up from a nap with bruises from laying on my rumpled blanket! As for bedding...my great aunt Lee and my mother taught me to quilt...and I use only fabrics/thread/batting that I am not allergic to. So, at least my bedding is safe :) I have been tempted to try making clothing but...I am intimidated by clothing instructions. So I watch your videos (and mant others) in the hoped I will learn via osmosis and I will also become brave enough to try. I bought some fabric to try to make a shirt...we will see if I manage to calm my anxiety enough to get a pattern
@@coreygilles847 if you can quilt, you can do this. I don't know what kind of shirt you're looking to make, but I can say there are done good pattern makers out there. The Helen's Closet patterns I've used have been pretty good. Very detailed in comparison to the historical costuming patterns I've used. If you use Discord at all, my Discord community has some wonderful sewists who are fantastic moral support. 🙂
@MaireColclough I will have to come visit and I will definitely look into that designer/pattern company. But it definitely won't be until the weather cools a bit because it is WAY too hot.
About a year and a half ago i developed an allergy to eggs. It was so hard to figure out because the hives took about 6 or more hours to develop. I would have one for breakfast and by 3pm my stomach would be covered with itchy hives. Most of the family react very quickly to an allergy but not me. That shirt works so well as a jacket and the embroidery is just lovely.
The shirt works absolutely fantastically as a jacket and I'm looking forward to the weather shifting to cooler temperatures so I can wear it 😁 Sorry to hear about the egg issues! That's why it's hard for me to pin down the possible nut butter link - it's too hot and we have too many things to get done to have me out of commission for another week if I test the nut butter, so trying it again is on hold until we've completed a family project and the weather cools down. 😳
The top is nice. You might be able to make different straps for your tops so they cover the bra straps. It shouldn't use a lot of fabric. I never manage to keep the straps completely hidden.
As a fellow plus size sewist allow me to recommend viscose fabric. I don't know what prices are like in Canada, but I've been able to get some great colours and prints for £5-10 a metre, and sometimes even below. It's light, drapey, and despite being semi synthetic, doesn't give you that sweaty plastic thing you get with polyester or acrylic
I love the stuff. I have like 6 sarongs made of it that I plan to convert to skirts. My 75 year old shape sadly doesn't hold up sarongs anymore with any sense of security.
@@crystal8160 While all these are very similar, there are differences. Personally, I get on better with viscose than rayon, and haven't yet found anywhere doing either of the other two at a price I'm willing to pay just to try something out
You did a fantastic job on the embroidery, that shirt just screams add more embroidery 😁. You might try some light shoulder pads to smooth out the shoulders. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks for the tip! I'll put shoulder pads in the "maybe" column as I've hated them since the 80s and tend to rip them out when I find them in store-bought clothes 🤣
Great top, the embroidered yoke is so cute! Much sympathy for the skin issues, hope that it clears up quickly if it hasn't already. Fingers crossed that it does get cooler next week and that there's some rain and fewer fires!
Most of the stitches were satin stitch, backstitch, and split backstitch with the occasional French knot. All very easy stitches, and I can definitely see my improvement as I progressed on the piece 😃
I absolutely adore your embroidery! Also, the blouse came out well and I like the idea of it as a cover up kind of more than just a blouse. It just seems to fit better that way with the whimsical aspects. I feel you on the heat. Been doing 12 hour days at the Post Office bc so many people have been out sick in 90°+F weather. I desperately await whatever autumn FL can muster until I can move back up north.
Oh I really love this top! The embroidery is lovely too! I will have to look into this pattern. Not sure about the bell sleeves maybe an elastic wrist. I have the balance and coordination of a mushroom so getting caught up in the sleeves wouldn’t be hard for me! Great video you keep making what you make and I’ll keep watching! I’m here no matter what!
I have a deep and abiding love for bell sleeves. Both the 70s-ish kind like the Gilbert Top features, as well as the more fitted-to-the-elbow sleeve that then bursts into a gothic bell. I blame the mid 1990s and passing Pam Chorley's Fashion Crimes every day on the Queen St W trolley on my way to college 🤣

@@robintheparttimesewer6798 You just made me 'squee' - you're coming to Ottawa in August??? Most excellent. We'll have to set a date for nachos or coffee or beer or something... Summer is treating me good. And yes, way too hot. Tried to go fishing with the big sister and her hubbie yesterday - no fishing, but we did stop for a beer, lol. The gardens are good. The balcony is producing food and herbs. No sign yet to see if the black oyster mushrooms will come through - they're the summer experiment. We're back on the trail for the local pollinators - which is oh so nice. The compost experiment is working - should have some soil by the end of the summer. The community garden plot exploded some time last week. The basil plot is in need of a hair cut - yay pesto. Tomatoes are well past my head; to the point where I need to bring a stepping stool to top them off. So far - not much in the way of sewing. Or cleaning... but we're back on that this week. How about you? Have you been up north to see the fam? Did you get out for a bit of fishing? How goes the grandson?
@@stevezytveld6585 Cathy it would be great to meet up! The trip up north was fun but not as busy as usual. We did tour an old mine which was amazing didn’t get as much time as I would have liked in the museum part. It will be on the list for next time! The work done in candlelight was amazing! They turned out the lights to show just how hard it had been to see with a candle. It was a shorter time this year as hubby and I had to make sure we were over covid. Which sucked. Better now but still feeling drained. The heat really isn’t helping either! Your garden sounds amazing. I remember one year dad had a bumper crop of tomatoes. In the fall he cut them down and hung the plants in the garage we got fresh tomatoes well into winter! I haven’t done any cleaning or projects either. Found some really nice bright raincoat material at a thrift shop. 30 bucks for all of it! I’ll have to research seaming so that it’s still water repellent. Then maybe I can make coats the kid will wear. He’s getting to that weird age where he doesn’t want to wear coats I didn’t do any gardening this year! The yard and garden has just been an over grown mess! I did manage to get milkweed seeds hopefully they will be ok for next year. And hopefully I will have the energy to do it too
I also have been debating an overhaul of my wardrobe due to heat and skin issues, so I feel you. I also tend to wear the same thing all the time despite having lots of clothes from years off working in offices. But I am a squishy girl with eczema and I live in the sweaty buttcrack of the US (TX) so the hotter it gets, the less I want anything to do with my cute synthetic dresses or polyester chiffon/organza tops. I just cannot between the eczema and things like heat rash. I need everything in cotton and linen. I recently found Katerina Ivanovna's bias-cut underwear patterns and that is going to be my first "making" project out of some linens I got on sale from fabricmart, in addition to weeding a lot of stuff out of my wardrobe and/or maybe taking some patterns from pieces I do like to wear but are just too sweaty. No point in having all these clothes and wearing the same 10 legging and shirt combos. I think you def should continue the embroidery motif on the cuffs, it would be super cute and tie it all together. Mushrooms everywhere!
Okay, I'm not sure how come we've never crossed paths before, but I'm here to say you're awesome and hilarious and I've just subscribed. Also, my ex husband was really bad at spider removal - he'd try to carry them out of the house, and not notice when they leapt for freedom on the way.
Do not sew, though I can if pressed, and do not care about sewing all that much. However - your vibes and sense of humour is just perfection ☠️😊 So I guess I'm watching whatever you make 😅
Love the embroidery! It's so neat and crisp and lovely 🤩 Re: spiders Due to the increase in my mental health I have stopped disassociating so much, which means things I wasn't squeamish about before have come to haunt me. Cut to me getting out of the shower one day in our extremely small bathroom and as I'm drying off, a big ol' spider scoots out from under my slippers!! I screamed and managed to upset the toilet seat to the point where it popped off the hinges! (The hinges are supposed to let go, but not generally by accident). My own husbeast came to the rescue and the spider did not survive😅😅
I’ve had mystery (and semi-mystery) heat rash flares a few times this warm season. From what I can tell, it came from having lotion on the affected area for too long. 🙃 It’s normal for me to have them at various times in the summer, on my thighs and hairline/neck area, particularly if I let sweat/hair grease dry on my skin, but this time it’s moved to my… décolletage, so it’s really noticeable. Just itchy, though, not painful, so I’m counting my blessings! But since the stuff on the internet just says “cool down” and “wear natural fibers” (something I already do), my already cool self has done some heat transfer with 99% aloe gel. It kind of works? It seems to anyway.
I'll keep the aloe gel in mind if it returns! In the meantime, I hope you're able to get some relief from your own itchiness! (hands you the hydrocortisone cream)
have you tried Pure Linen Envy? theyre an online linen store, but they are located in Ontario. shipping in Canada might be more reasonable than from the US or overseas. and the majority of their products seem to be under $20 a yard, which is really reasonable for linen.
I'm a newer watcher and I love how you make videos around specific projects. Great job on the embroidery, it's absolutely beautiful! Regarding fit - I always make my own size by doing one size for the shoulder and then grading to two sizes bigger for the hip. I recently made a dress where I added room to the hip too. I truly don't know why so many patterns are created with the assumption that bust and hip are the same ... this isn't true for 99% of the people I know. I'm currently wondering if I can add a gusset to the side seam of a flannel shirt that fits down to the waist, but also wondering if I just need to let it go. It's an unusual pattern/colorway that I absolutely love so I'm struggling. I wonder if you can add a panel to the sides here, so it's got more room on the hips?
Could probably just piece in a side panel. But my weight is changing (downwards), and it will eventually fit just fine. If anything, I may make another shirt in the future that's properly fitted to ALL the measurements. I've been doing some learning on a more recent project (full bust adjustments and grading between sizes) 😉 For your own shirt - you can always try adding a couple of gores, see if they work with the shirt to make it fit a little better. If it's a shirt you love, it might be worth the effort!
I have pincushions...I'd use them more, but I also have a cat who sees pins in a pincushion as a dexterity puzzle. So I do what I can to limit her contact with them 😁
Tonight's dinner will be slow cooker vegan macaroni cheese 😅 Younger Son and i have just got back from from camping with church youth group, and though we had good food, it wasn't mac cheese, which is his favourite meal. And if i put it in the slow cooker, it won't require effort. Or too much heat.
I love the embrpidered yoke! I'm sorry about the cauldron spider experience, yuck. I've been doing a lot of gardening and yard work this summer and I have walked through several giant spider webs.🤢 Plus I'm covered in contact dermatitis. My skin has decided it hates sun, dirt, and all plant life in addition to all the soap and cleaning chemicals that have historically triggered my eczema. So much burning and itching but I harvested 3 cucumbers and 2 cherry tomatoes this morning. Yippee 🙄
Hooray cucumbers and cherry tomatoes! Boo contact dermatitis! (my brain, of course, flipped to the gif of Leonardo di Caprio raising a wine glass, but it inserted Benedryl and hydrocortisone cream instead. Stoopid brain). 😁
Feel free to ignore as unsolicited health advice regarding the flushing/rash, it might be worth looking into histamine / MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome).
I'm surprised you didn't embroider Ms Spider into your shirt. It would totally be in theme with your love of Halloween. As for dealing with the heat your preaching to the choir here. I'm in Arizona and not only is it freaking hot, it's the middle of monsoon season with 60% humidity when it's like 15% the rest of the year. OK so that might be a bit of an exaggeration but thentrible digits on the thermometer don't lie and the pool is like bath water. Cold showers are non existent at this point in the year. I'm sitting on a pike of cotton/linen fabric waiting to be made into a sundress I can wear around the homestead and be cool. Except it's too frickin hot to sew. However I do like e the embroidery on your shirt. After finally getting to wear the chemise I made back in 2020 to the Renaissance Faire that I embroidered balckwork strawberries on and seeing your video I kinda have that itch to do the cuffs now. I still need to make my husband a shirt too. I was going to put stags on his, but then you know the plague happened. I think you started something indeed. Now I've got that itch too. I have a few things I'm looking at embroidering now. And I see the heat doesn't seem to affect the kitties as they are still up to their antics. 😂
Ms Spider surfaced after the yoke was finished, unfortunately. Maybe the next one 😉 Where I grew up, we used to deal with the humidity by swimming, mostly. Pools and the river. The river was usually best for it. Going to want to get going on dipping into that fabric stash! (the kitty footage is a couple of weeks old - they're spending a lot of time sleeping with the heat)
@@MaireColcloughnext time take a picture of Ms Spider before sending the husbeast to take care of her. I feel like we would be great friends in person because I also am a fan of letting other people cook my chicken and I also have cats on every surface in fact I have a sign hanging behind my sewing machine that reads "I hope you like cat hair". Lol

Also…love the post-credits blooper reel! That clip of the late great Carrie Fisher was genius. You are George effing Lucas! 😂😂
I am. Someday I need to do an entire "George F. Lucas" reel, because I do that a lot. 😉
I do not miss august in Calgary at all, it was the worst month for heat when I lived there. Love the embroidery it turned out great.
Eventually we'll move east and you can hear me complain about other climes too 😁
@@MaireColcloughlet me tell you here in nova Scotia we currently have heat warnings, again. It is also incredibly humid, like a bloody sauna with mosquitoes. When I lived here in the 90s our Montreal air conditioner sat in a closet. This new house has a blessed heat pump. In fact it has 2, one for each floor. The things dehumidife too! And heat in the winter.

Omg the embroidered yoke turned out amazing!
Sizing issues aside, this is a very cute shirt. I'd love to see the shirtdress version too!
It could totally happen! But I've got a few other dresses in the queue first 😉
AZ resident here - SO understand the “too hot for clothes”. Our overnight low is supposed to be 91F 😳
Here’s to breathable fabric. And indoor hibernation.
And yes - you post, I watch!
91F! Yikes! You have my sympathies!
But it's a dry heat is it not? It's the humid that gets me.😟
I just found your channel and I love it. Your dry wit is perfect. Excellent embroidery and top. ❤
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the videos 😃
Love the embroidery!! Makes a gorgeous throw over.
Before hearing your woes with your skin, I was thinking how lovely it was. The luminosity of your skin is beautiful, how unfair it is that it also causing you pain. Great shirt as well, than you for the inspiration
The embroidery is so on point and the finished blouse is just lovely. I like the idea you have for further embroidery on the blouse.
Love the embroidery and the cover up is very flattering, kitty fix is always good, and the gag reel was much appreciated and needed, thanks. ❤
Just call me George 😁
Would love to see some mushrooms or flowers on
the collar.
@@robintheparttimesewer6798 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We still occasionally find dog hair from my brother's last trip down. And the cats are just going into shedding overdrive. The lighter of the two buried one of their cat trees in fur, to the point where I couldn't use the handheld vacuum and had to go for the Dyson 😁

This is my first time watching your channel, and I absolutely loved the blouse you sewed! Your sense of humor is fantastic, and you look amazing in that blouse 😍. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos! Sending love from Morocco 🇲🇦✨
Thank you! Hello to Morocco! 😃
This shirt is SO cool 🤩 I love the shape of it and your embroidery is amazing ❤
Lost My Thread also made the Gilbert top. She also said they instructions were very easy to follow.
They are! Next time I'll actually read the part about sizing the shirt 🤣
I love the embroidery!!❤
I will make a deal with you. You keep making things you like and want to wear, and I will keep watching. I love your videos, I learn helpful things, and I enjoy the content and your sense of humor. Girl scout tip, put a cold, wet bandana on your neck and you will feel cooler.
I first read that as "cold wet banana" and that's a different video entirely 🤣
Thanks for the tip!
I have to agree keep doing what you’re doing!
🍌 oh gosh that would be terrible 😂
Love the whimsy of the embroidery. So well done.
Oh wow so cute! Sorry you're suffering with your mystery affliction. It's funny I was admiring how well the yoke and shoulders fit in the reveal so was surprised when you said it was too small! I look forwarded to the next version!
I know! The sizing over the tummy was a bit of a surprise to me too 😁
I think it turned out wonderfully and super cute!!!
Sounds like we had a very similar experience in our gothic youths!
That is a cute blouse, and you look cute in it! I love the embroidery. On the cooking thing , we moved our cooker outside while we do up the kitchen, and boy! was that a good move in our current heat wave!
I loved both the blouse and the spider event! Never a dull video with you! 😂 I wish you luck with the rest of your cauldrons.
I'm trying to work up the fortitude to check the other two cauldrons... 😳
@@MaireColclough set it up for a video and loudly announce that your going to film getting into them. That way the camera shy spiders 😆 will vacate before you start and it will be uneventful. You can always delete the footage afterwards.
I’m planning to branch out into pastel black (heathered grey) this fall. I’m hoping it makes the cat hair slightly less obvious.
Pastel black...awesome!
Just remember to use colour as accents, otherwise it just seems to fade folks into the background.
The mushrooms/plants are delightful
All the wonderfulness. You are just trying to get us all into spooky season mood with your little spider escapade. I think putting the mushroom motif on the sleeve cuffs would be completely charming. Rotisserie chickens are brilliant when the temp soars. The blouse looks lovely on you. I often wear an open shirt over a tank top. Very flattering. Enjoy the upcoming week, they are calling for clouds, rain, and high teens. Take care.
Hooray for clouds and rain! We're enjoying the drizzle from today's efforts. Hope you are too! 😃
@@MaireColclough That North wind was heavenly to clear the cobwebs out and cool the place down.
The embroidery is soooooo good. It turned out great. And one always needs a cute cover up.
Indeed! And when it gets a little more wearable as a shirt, I can put buttons on it 😃
I will watch you make whatever you want to wear even if it is the same black witchy dress a hundred times.
Boo, you roasted to well-done. I appreciate the humor AND the Daria vibes. Cute top. I dig the mushrooms
Thank you! 😃
The shirt works absolutely fantastically as a jacket and I'm looking forward to the weather shifting to cooler temperatures so I can wear it 😁
Sorry to hear about the egg issues!
I think I've seen viscose in the clearance section...I'll keep an eye out for it! Thanks! 😃
Viscose is another name for rayon. Tinsel and lyocel are others.
I love the stuff. I have like 6 sarongs made of it that I plan to convert to skirts. My 75 year old shape sadly doesn't hold up sarongs anymore with any sense of security.
@@crystal8160 While all these are very similar, there are differences. Personally, I get on better with viscose than rayon, and haven't yet found anywhere doing either of the other two at a price I'm willing to pay just to try something out
@@lenabreijer1311 I don't know if my 50-something shape could either, so it's all good 😉
You did a fantastic job on the embroidery, that shirt just screams add more embroidery 😁.

What about an interchangeable yoke? Then you could change it according to the occasion.
That might take far too much velcro for my comfort level 😁
I LOVE the embroidery (and the blouse/cover up) . Can totally see the embroidered lady bugs and cuffs.
What was the stitch you used?

Hey Robin, how's your summer going??
- Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
@@stevezytveld6585 hey Cathy. I was just wondering how you were. So how you? How are your projects going? And your garden?
Summer is too hot but we’re getting along ok. Boy got his cast off all good. We went up north had a great time. He lived in the water every time we went to the beach.
I’m hoping to get up Ottawa way in august if I can work out some time
@@robintheparttimesewer6798 You just made me 'squee' - you're coming to Ottawa in August???
He’s getting to that weird age where he doesn’t want to wear coats
I didn’t do any gardening this year! The yard and garden has just been an over grown mess! I did manage to get milkweed seeds hopefully they will be ok for next year. And hopefully I will have the energy to do it too
It turned out so good!
Thank you! The next outfit will fit a whole lot better (thanks for letting me ask you lots of questions) 😃
🧡 marvelous
Mushrooms everywhere!
gorgeous -- as usual!!
Aww, thanks ☺️
Okay, I'm not sure how come we've never crossed paths before, but I'm here to say you're awesome and hilarious and I've just subscribed. Also, my ex husband was really bad at spider removal - he'd try to carry them out of the house, and not notice when they leapt for freedom on the way.
Thank you! It sounds like you had some really smart spiders 😁

Love the embroidery! It's so neat and crisp and lovely 🤩
Re: spiders
Due to the increase in my mental health I have stopped disassociating so much, which means things I wasn't squeamish about before have come to haunt me.
That spider forgot the agreement 😁
I feel very called out by the hydrating comment. 😂 Yes, yes, I'm going to go find my water.
🥛
I LOOOVVVE the embroidery!!
Thank you 😁
My son and I recently discovered Sharkoberry Fin Koolaid. Highly recommend.
Love the embroidery!
Thank you! 😃
I've considered it! I need to send away for some samples so I have a better idea of the weights I need 😃
I've been doing some learning on a more recent project (full bust adjustments and grading between sizes) 😉
For your own shirt - you can always try adding a couple of gores, see if they work with the shirt to make it fit a little better. If it's a shirt you love, it might be worth the effort!
The embroidery was great. Wondering why you don't use a pin cushion? Sorry if you've addressed this before.
I have pincushions...I'd use them more, but I also have a cat who sees pins in a pincushion as a dexterity puzzle. So I do what I can to limit her contact with them 😁
People often develope new allergies. It's hard to figure out since most people have some tolerance.
There is no such thing as "too much whimsy"! All the whimsy always.

Cat glitter...very true 😸
Tonight's dinner will be slow cooker vegan macaroni cheese 😅
Younger Son and i have just got back from from camping with church youth group, and though we had good food, it wasn't mac cheese, which is his favourite meal. And if i put it in the slow cooker, it won't require effort. Or too much heat.
Yum! 😋
I am not a fan of bell sleeves, it turns into dust collectors. I do love the embroidery!
Maybe the next one 😉
Where I grew up, we used to deal with the humidity by swimming, mostly.
Now you have a model of Ms Spider for your witchy decor 😉 as for swimming I would enjoy it if the water wasn't like bath water. I have friends who have been baking cookies in their cars in this heat. I'm half tempted to try baking brownies in mine.😜🤣🤣
