Thank you so much! I'm so behind on my sock knitting it's not funny. And I started in January this year! 😂

Realizing I’m 2 years late to this party, I thought I’d comment anyway to satisfy the algorithm. I’m a toe-up gal, myself, as I never seem to be able to graft evenly. Being a bit of a perfectionist, I spend a nearly equivalent amount of time futzing with my graft as I did knitting the sock! I knit almost exclusively on circular needles…once I learned magic loop, I never looked back. I keep a set of dpns (or three, in case of lost needles) for knitting small, flat items, like amigurumi. Thank you for the lovely tutorial on lever knitting/Irish Cottage Knitting! I hadn’t found a tutorial that showed tensioning so clearly, yet.

I'm working on my first two at a time toe up socks. I use a shadow wrap heel. I'm binge watching all of your videos 😊

This video is two years old, but I just ran across it. I really like that blue, green, and yellow yarn you used for these; it's a very nostalgic colour combo.
I usually knit accessories: hats, scarves, cowls, handwarmers. Sometimes, blankets, though I usually crochet those because I can crochet much faster than I can knit. I recently finished my third-ish sweater, Francis Revisited, and just finished my first pair of socks, the Vanilla Latte socks! (Cuff-down, eye of partridge heel, wedge toe.) I haven't worn them yet but I hope I like them and all the effort wasn't pointless.
I checked out the Regia yarn in-person at a local yarn shop but I didn't like it; too scratchy for me. I know yarn softens a bit when blocked but I've used stuff that had a similar texture and was still itchy after blocking.

I wish I had seen this video after my only pair of socks came out... Baggy and misshapen is the kindest way I can think of. Looking to start an arm-warmer for my sister with tendonitis

Sounds like your socks needed blocking 😉
Arm warmers are great! I'm trying to figure out how to knit them so they don't drain a smart watch. 😉

It was absolutely a decrease issue, but those sock blockers look fabulously helpful too!

Two at a time, toe up, fleegle heel. I currently have three pairs on two circular needles. It was supposed to make it go faster, but I started about two years ago, so that didn't really go as planned...

I know the feeling. I think I have a pair with afterthought heels that I have to get back to work on. I cast them on about...oh...5 years ago? 😂

It has been ages since I knitted socks! I finished not long ago a pair of fingerless gloves in an open ribbed lace pattern. I started with a sock and kind of made it up from there. I picked up some alpaca yarn that is soft and fluffy. I am currently working on a scarf/shawl in a geometric leaf pattern. I'm trying a bamboo/cotton blend on this one. Beautifully soft, but it has a tendency to split.
I just found your channel. Very glad that I did!!!!

I'm a toe up short row guy.
I do like the spotty self striping yarns. Stripes alone seems a bit boring.

I have just finished a pair of socks in self striping greens and yellows, with a cable pattern, and am now using the rest of the ball to make matching fingerless gloves. Here in the UK there are a few suppliers of home reared and dyed yarns. I cant resist new yarns. I have also recently finished a pair of merino slippers and a granny square blanket. 3 more self striping pairs of socks to do in different colours, as well as a crochet jersey to make which is sitting in my project bags.

@@MaireColclough These will take me a while, I prioritise things for gifts, but being retired I have more time for crafts these days. I tend to make socks in the evenings with TV on as the pattern I usually use is well embedded in my brain.

Well, I doesn't have anything to do this evening so here I'm. ;) I'm trying to teach myself to knit two socks on one circler needle Toe up, because I'm soo good in forgetting to count correctly so the socks ends up being to different sizes, and I hope that this will make so that they are about the same sizes.

    • @MaireColclough
      @MaireColclough  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Knitting two-at-a-time on one long circ will definitely help with that! I find the technique a challenge, so I stick to one at a time, but it's a good way to help with wonky length sizing 😁👍

@@MaireColclough well so far it feels really complicated, but that might be because I have never knitted socks with circular needles before.

Whenever I knit socks the foot ends up too long and I always end up with the heel around my ankle, even after I measure. Right now I'm trying to knit tube socks to see if I like them better

You may find that knitting socks from the toe-up is a little easier to work with, at least until you get the hang of that dodgy instep-length! 😀
