    @allmansgirl Gregg's a huge reason Duane worked his ass off to become the legend he was. Can't let your lil' brother, with a voice like that, also be a better guitar player too. The musical genius of both is astonishing.

      Think, they should had more Gregg on Guitar than keys. His keys playing is one of the best. Should have played both guitar and keys in the band. Betts can handle all guitars when gregg is on keys.

    My God he is just amazing. I love his soulful voice and simple but wonderful guitar paying. When u have talent like this man does you don't need to hide behind electronics. He can go anywhere and whip his guitar out and sing one of his songs and blow everyone away ---GA is one of a kind.

    The true mark of a good Musician, is to sound as good live as you do in studio. I believe Gregg Allmen made that Mark at a vary early age...One of the true deep sounding to the heart soulful voice. Oh and vary easy on the eyes....

      It is indeed a mystery that those two boys with so much trouble in their young lives and no one to truly shape their lives, somehow were touched by that special giftedness. I get that same feeling of mystery when I listen to Dickey Betts' (says he doesn't read music) Liz Reed. Among the things to marvel at in this world.

    I am an old fingerstyle chet atkinsf picker but man this is some good music. The Allman Brothers were in a class by themselves. The only band that could play a 10 minute solo and keep it exciting and not revert to some three note run that just gets faster and not better. And what a voice.

    This brings back memories. In the early 70s I saw Flo & Eddie, Loggins and Messina, Johnny Winter, and The Allman Brothers at the Hollywood Bowl. This was one of their first shows after Duane died. Berry Oakley was still with them; I believe he died a short time after. It was the first I had heard of the Allman Brothers, and I was hooked.

    I don’t know who those two dudes are but you can almost see them falling in love with another man, sitting in the presence of that kind of musical genius. I truly wept the Saturday I heard Gregg died. I was sad the whole Memorial Day weekend. No other musician had nor has that kind of hold on me.

      Mark & Howard are two amazing singers and besides the being the voices of the Turtles (Happy Together), they were also with Frank Zappa and the Mothers after the Turtles disolved. They also sang background vocals for a who's who of rock musicians including T.Rex, Alice Cooper and Bruce Springsteen.
      I got to seem them as Flo & Eddie back in the 80s and they were a blast! Frank Zappa's Fillmore East - June 1971 record features them live in concert and if you know anything about Frank's live shows ...uh, well... check it out.

    He was especially great when he was younger. I love listening to "Hourglass"; before they became the Allman bros. great stuff!

      Possibly better then duane on guitar but most likely not... but damn can gregg sing better then 85 percent of people that's for sure!
