Washing day! - German photographer washing her clothes in Ghana

I tried doing a short... but I can't rush myself...
How it looked like when I washed my clothes while being in Ghana.
The first few times I struggled - I didn't have the technique nor the strength. I was told that I wash like a child and when I saw a child wash its clothes I actually had to admit it's true :D.
Fibi helped me most of the times by washing my trousers and white things. These were the things that were extra dirty especially because Tamale is a dusty place :). Later I often gave my clothes to our cleaning lady in Tamale. Washing my clothes usually took 1 to 1 1/2 hours so basically the same amount of time a usual washing machine would need.
Did I like washing with my hands? Yes, and no. No, because I got frustrated that I wasn't able to clean my clothes that well - but that comes with practice I guess. Yes, because I liked thinking and discussing things with Fibi and take the time for my brain to do something different.
