    I still remember watching the apartment tour videos last year, now I actually moved to Seattle, next step is to adjust my schedule to wake up at 7am like the guy in the video, instead of 5 mins before my morning standup 😂

    Wow, I'm envious of the variety of work spaces & that break room. I would love to work in the garden in the Spheres. You managed to film on one of our glorious spring days & I am here for it! I love working from home, which I get to do 4 of 5 days weekly, but I sure wish our office was more like yours on those days I have to be there. The waterfront is a great place to be on a beautiful day!

    • @Chris_jae
      @Chris_jae  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! The weather was perfect that day so I had to work at the spheres. And I also enjoy being able to work in different locations. Now that there are no more assigned desks I like to scout out desks with nice views haha. Also I love how walkable the downtown area is because I can walk to work, home, and then the waterfront without having to drive or even if I do drive it’s doesn’t take too long (assuming I’m not taking I5 during rush hour haha)

      @@Chris_jae I was just in Seattle yesterday to hang with a friend. I started at Uwajimaya, then went to a Trader Joe's close by & really enjoyed the drive. There was surprisingly little traffic on the surface streets & the route Google Maps gave me was really pretty. Lots of green & a lovely residential district. It was so pretty until early evening. 💚

    Loved this! I used to be an early bird, but my current job starts at 10 -- hopefully moving to Seattle next month forces me to get back to those early morning alarms! But I'm like you, I appreciate the snooze 😂 Loved the appearance of the sculpture park, it's one of my favorites!

    • @Chris_jae
      @Chris_jae  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooo! A 10 AM start sounds nice. And moving back in May is probably the best time. Just in time for summer 😊. But also I wake up early on weekends (too excited to go hiking, waste time at a café, etc). And glad you appreciated the sculpture park! It’s definitely underrated but has some great views

      @@Chris_jae It seems like the only time my body wants to wake up early is on weekends 😂 If you had to pick your favorite coffeeshop in the city, what would it be? I'm compiling a list of places to check out once I get there!

    Little late for the upload, but what does a Amazon Program Manager do? and does the job have a livable salary in Seattle

    • @Chris_jae
      @Chris_jae  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends. For the most part, we’re given business or technical problems, we draft up or propose a solution and Jen are given a teams of software devs. or operators, or business analysts, etc to complete the project. The technicality of the work also depends on the type of PM. We have Program Managers, Program Manager Technical, and Technical Program Managers. The least technical is the base program manager and they’re paid the least (I made a salary video of an L4 PM) while Technical PMs make the most. PM technicals make somewhere in between (that’s what I am but I just say PM). As for living in Seattle, Amazon pays enough, but unless you’re an L5 TPM or above, you’ll likely live in a studio or 1 bd. But as you rise in levels you can afford more.
      Hope this helps!

  • @aakankshasmriti4973
    @aakankshasmriti4973 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Chris, I've heard that working hours are pretty long as a Program Manager. What's your take?

    • @Chris_jae
      @Chris_jae  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can be (sometimes), but it also depends on the team and the boundaries you set. When I first started I was working 10+ hours days each day, but I eventually got the confidence to set better deadlines. Now I more so have an 8 hour work day and fridays I work ~ 6 hours. I can do this because I have a great manager and director, but some in AWS would probably tell a different story.
