Great job guys trucks both look great ready to see the match up. Ford still sounds like a v6 but hey turbo V6 have proven to be fast years ago.
Ford: should’ve got wheels that fit without having to CUT OUT THE IMPACT SUPPORT BAR. Also, your on/off accent sounds like it belongs at a Luke Bryan concert.
Dodge: you had my full support until you whipped out the pLaStI DiP

Probably because he realized he was running out of budget
Its likely because that model had the LED headlights from factory and those lights are typically installed into the halogen lower model f150 trucks.
I'd like for him to give an explanation as to why he didnt install the headlights. It would look much better with the new headlights.

I had an ecoboost ford and really liked it. Bang for the buck was great. In this competition I think a supercharged 5.0 would have been the way to go. The noise the ecoboost makes is not amazing.
The sound is not great, but also they had to try to keep this a relativity fair fight. Even stock those truck should be relativity close in performance. If you put a blown 5.0 up against the Ram it would crush the Ram.

statikzeek problem is, it would cost more to build the viper engine than this show has probably ever made. $ per hp for those engines are ridiculous

They might be a lot closer in the 1/4 mile than you think. That f150 will dead hook with 4wd the srt is going to have terrible 60 ft. Times with street tires

@@Wizzop7 The majority of stuff done to it was to make it look cool. You could see that it has slightly bigger turbos now and has been lowered; but the hood, fender flares, and whacky wheels that stick out of the fenders so much that the wheel wells had to be modified; I see as detrimental to the truck’s performance.
Thus, it’s riced.
The ford went from looking like a platinum to a fx4.

Let's see. We're already lacking in power, so let's put on some 22's with a ridiculously large rolling circumference and a 305mm contact patch. Acceleration and braking suffer, and with that offset the sides of the truck will be beaten up from road debris.
And will chew up ball joints and other suspension pieces when they wear and get out of balance.

Ford definitely looks way better. And the reason why he isn’t doing any exterior mods is because their isn’t anything to get for it. Idk I just don’t like the looks of that dodge. But man it moves! Whole lot of power under that hood. I can’t wait to see what the f150 does. At my local strip theirs about 15 of those f150’s that run in the 7’s with the eco boost package.

you do know that a properly sized and back spaced wheel tire combo works better than universal wheels that fit everything but really fit nothing. Austin needs to go work for a parts store.

You should NEVER remove your rear crash bars. That protects the driver from having a tire shoved into his legs upon a frontal crash. You can get away with cutting the front ones out but leave them rears alone.

Matte black would have been way cooler, and as others have said, the mirrors should have been de-chromed as well.

What happened to the fords blckhousing headlights
Neat builds, two different ways to the same end. Would probably have spent more on tires if it was my truck, something stickier and better suited to track days. Can't imagine the tires that cost $800 on wheels that large are very performance oriented. Definitely think they both improved the front end of each truck. Sometimes the bean counters get in the way of the designers.

The Ford does look good, but my heart is with the Mopar- I love the simplicity of it! It doesn't have to over sale what it is. I also love Covercraft, I have used them recently for some custom fit seat covers and I was blown away by how well they fit! Good job guys but we already know who wins the battle...

Who instead of getting the correct size wheel just starts hacking up a newish expensive truck? Especially for wheels that look terrible anyway.
That's the trend unfortunately. And once those tires wear and don't get rebalanced enjoy destroying the front end components.
Lots of people it's about personal preference. The parts being cut are something you will never notice unless you did or know what your looking for.
It's especially sad when people do it to the F150s since those bars he cut off are for crash safety and are the reason it gets 5 star ratings in the front overlap test. With those bars out it's way more likely that someone's legs get crushed or the tires get pushed into the cabin in the event of an accident.

A dealer may or may not but it but individual people will if they like that look. The person to person sale isn't down much. Doesn't matter what they did with the truck they paid for it not you quit bitching about it. Everyone likes to talk trash to feel superior over people it's ridiculous.
Over 5k left over and spent jack on tuning the ecu. Thats big power for small $ on those TT 3.5Ls. Left on the table.

If your car/ truck is tuned.. the gas pedal throttle enhancer can/ may mess with your tune because sometimes they will interfere with each other.. so if you have a tune and it's running funny or doesn't have the power it should and your starting your diagnosis make sure your first step is to remove your gas pedal throttle enhancer module before you go through your other steps.. if you have one and you are going to get your car tuned (remote or dyno) make sure you let your tuner know you have one.. your tuner will probably tell you to throw it away..

I think all will be shocked when the EcoBoost hits the dyno and the track if they added a tune to the budget. I've seen them go 12.0s with an intake, exhaust and a tune.
I agree, the srt will suck at the track with street tires. Especially since the f150 is 4wd.

I was wondering how he was going to fit ANZO lights designed for halogen headlights onto a truck with the LEDs as they're not compatible. Turns out they just didn't put them on and didn't even mention it haha...

It is a safety design for front impact, it keeps the tire from smashing through the body and attacking your feet. Drive safe my friend.... Drive safe.

Why would he get an EcoBoost for this and not the coyote, or an chevy with an LS. I love ford and I love sixes but this should have been a v10 vs v8. Personally I woulda tried to get an old SS truck awd ls hell yeah oraybe a denali not sure how quad steer would help performance but it still sounds awesome. Or at least get the tremor single cab ecoboost
I love the third gen Ram like the srt being built in this video. Thought it was funny how LT is shown taking out those first 2 bolts for the headlights but not that 3rd bolt underneath. That bolt is hard asf to get to. Be warned this is not a how to. Not hating at all though

Definitely shoulda put those headlights in but I guess that woulda blown the budget. I like the black contrast but I personally would have left the front bumper the same

I love the wheels that dressed the FORD! ... but I'm not a fan of spacers nor of oversizing to the point of rubbing. Wouldn't a 20" been better?
Not really with them being 12 wide -44 if he went 10 wide -15 or or less than that it should fit with out rubbing or trimming or much of trimming but that far out does make you not have that good of turning radius intern the truck does seem more planted on turns
I about forgot with it being lowed as well I’m surprised that’s all the trimming he had to do to it. I got an 08 f150 on a 3inch lift on 20x10 -25 offset with 305/55 an rubs slightly at full turn with a little trimming done and it don’t have crash bars like this model does but about the same amount of wheel well room after crash bars are cut off so Idk how he didn’t have to trim more than what he did. But if he went 20s and the same with and offset it wouldn’t of matter

These new truck shows are alright but after going back and rewatching the original series with now Gearz host Stacey David, the stuff these guys are doing is pretty basic in comparison. It's cool but not rebuilding and customizing a truck from scratch cool..
The turbo intake is not under that hood scoop...

Just a big ol run lol. It actually lays waay nicer if you do lots of light coats. As well as if you warm the can up to get the vinyl to lay smoother
It would look cool if thr ford got the stripe all the way down the middle of the vehicle it also needs smoked taillights and painted mirrors and the black head lights

Not a fan of the Ford, mainly because of the mechanical issues they have, but it does look good. And they do run good, when they're running.
The Ram is a beast there is no doubt but, if someone gave this challenge to me, I would have gone with a Chevy. It's way too easy and cheapish to lay down some serious power from the LS. A 1st Gen. Silverado SS with the AWD already in place would be an awesome starting point.
Plenty of $$ left for some NITROUS and tuning on that red brick!!
Those were the wrong headlamps for the truck, that’s why he couldn’t put them on. Those are replacements for halogen trucks. Should have just bought the morimoto ones instead. Would have looked real good.

Now I'm a ford/Honda guy all day 2x on Sunday, but with the budgets they had left over why didnt the dodge grab a blower or turbo kit with that $4500?
Cost. A properly done kit for a Viper v10 is more than $4500.

I like the Ram but the Ford is nice I wish I could do some of those things to my Ram Eco Diesel I am not interested in racing or showing off I would just like to keep my truck looking nice and running well here in New Mexico out UV factor has been off the chart all summer
Fords pretty alright, good to stick with stock lights just smoked a little. After all the LEDs are beautiful and like and $1,000 it's like why bother with that option if your replacing them
You forgot to install the blacked out headlights
just saying... if the engine is running and ya fully depress the macvalve on the fuel rail, if the idle slows down and then comes back up the system is running on live updates from the sensors "active engine management". can just put a blower on it and it will work... tho if the truck is stock, it probably has the same size fuel pump as a little 4 cylinder car.
If the eco boost was red with those changes it would be my choice. Shame we don't get decent trucks here in Ireland.
Trust me you don't want that truck. It's slow to begin with. My Chevy with the 5.3L would be a better platform for power than a v6. No replacement for displacement. Also. What do you guys get for pickups across the pond?
