People going on about how much they are and how many standard pads they can buy or cheap pre owned consoles for the same price . Untill you actually play with one of these types of pads you will never know how good they feel and how much better they are. I had the Xbox elite pad and it was 🔥. My birthday is in may and this beautiful pad will be purchased for sure.

Most people complain about the price just because you can't afford it.
Look at the quality you are getting. $20 for 2 thumb stick replacements vs $60 ps4 controller that breaks down in 3 months. This controller is built to last and has it's own features plus quality. Don't hate just because you don't have the $.

  • @kopo7466
    @kopo7466 5 ปีที่แล้ว

It's funny hearing the Scuf Vantage being comparable to any controller, much less a pro controller. I can't comment or knock the Raiju, I've never had one or played on it, but the C40 beats the Vantage every day of the week. Whatever issues you can conceivably have with the C40, minor or major, are extremely to relatively easy to fix, respectively. The Vantage, however, is a total crap shoot. It's problems are game breaking and fixes are pretty much impossible without sending it to get fixed(if you even can) or simply shilling out the money for a whole new one to then dry, rinse and repeat. And the price for the Vantage (the "equivalent" wireless AND wired version of it) are the same, minus personal customizations. Even the wired only is $170! Either way, I'd say, while expensive, get the C40 for sure over the Vantage. It's solid, premium, works very well and the problems it can have (I personally haven't had any and I've had it for a while now and play it religiously) are minor and easily fixable. For what you pay, it definitely does what it should and does it well.

In official ranking Sony DualShock 4 is on second place and only controller better than "original" is Razer Naiju but unless you participate in gaming tourtanments there is no need for it.

The Vantage left a bad taste in my mouth. I returned it after 2 days of frustration. This Astro controller redeems itself with pro controllers. I love this controller. Buy this if your looking for a pro controller. Build quality feels awesome unlike the cheap plastic feel on the Vantage. Yes its pricey but if your a gamer its a good investment. Casual gamers dont need this but everyday gamers its a great controller. Scuf needs to learn from this. I have no bugs or glitches so far unlike the Vantage which was riddled with numerous bugs and still has bugs after there supposed firmware update which was supposed to fix everything. I cant say enough good things about this Astro controller.

The fact that you can open the front and change the joystick mechanism as a whole is interesting.
As a fps player and sports game player all my controllers have had issues with the left joystick. Sprinting not working, the movement not being consistent.
Just depends on how much is a replacement joystick.
The problem in the normal controller isn't the joystick itself but the underlying mechanism that breaks for clicking L3.

You should have mentioned one of the MAJOR benefits of having that modular design... other modded controllers always end up having issues with the analog sticks drifting. If that happens with the C40, you just buy another analog and fix the issue immediately. And it will probably only cost around $20. I have to send my scuf impact in, pay for shipping, and wait for an estimate. Then if I approve, it could take up to 8 weeks to get it back. And I paid over $200 for the damn thing.

Undoubtedly _not_ the best option, and not even a good option. Sticks have deadzone issues at the NW,NE,SW,SE ranges of motion, where not only do you feel impedance but the software itself detects the sticks are only getting 75-80% of their movement range versus N,S,W,E ranges receiving full 100% range of motion. So, diagonal movements or shooting are going to be hampered by the controller, and again, you can FEEL it, so doubtful software is fixing this. The Astro software itself is problematic and required a full system restore and then reinstallation to get drivers working. That's annoying but less problematic to, yanno, the thumbsticks not fully functioning. Also, on PC, the controller has Sound drivers that install and basically supersede your default mic settings so you can't use your mic in game without plugging it into the controller jack. No thanks! Other tidbits: Thumbstick tension feels comparable to early model Xbox One or Xbox Elite thumbsticks, being very loose in comparison to a DS4. Not a game breaker, but annoying, as I can imagine competitive gamers wanting more tension, not less.

I don't own a PS4 but I recently bought a second hand PS2 and I would kill for a controller like this. I always hated the placement of the sticks on Playstation as a kid, so much so that I avoided dualshock controllers like the plague on my original Playstation, preferring to use the previous model which had no sticks. I then switched to the Gamecube for the next generation of consoles which had a fantastic controller. Now that I own a PS2, I can safely say that my opinion hasn't changed. At least on the PSX, I understood why the sticks had such shit positions on the controller. They were a brand new innovation (which Sony ripped off from the N64) and there wasn't enough space anywhere else on the controller to fit them. However, I have no idea why they stuck with such a horrible design for their subsequent consoles. I honestly think Sony make some really good consoles and have excellent exclusive games but those controllers are just awful. If anyone knows of a PS2 compatible controller with a Gamecube/ Xbox style layout for the sticks (which Xbox copied from the Gamecube) please, please let me know.

I had to return astro c40 because in my personal experience, I did keep accidentally pressing the back buttons only because of the way I hold my controller (personal problem). I had to somewhat change the way I hold the controller, in order to hit the back buttons comfortably. During gaming and after gaming my marriage finger and pinky finger will feel sore/achy because of the way I had hold it. Overall it is a great controller, so don't get me wrong. It has no lag when in wireless mode, nice grip, it has some weight, swappable d pad and analog sticks, trigger stoppers, the button remapping mode for back buttons is easy, and the two different profiles for different button layouts. The only cons I found is that while in wireless mode, it doesn't show how much battery it has when you hold the PS button, the motion keyboard sensor doesn't work, and the controller in wire or wireless mode won't power on the Ps4/Ps4 pro.

Problem with the Raiju is its reliability. It's not available in the US because it's overwhelmingly buggy and Sony apparently wont allow it to be sold here. Razer has yet to catch up to all of the complaints about the controller either not working or having really bad stick drift on the right stick. It's a shame because it looks like it would be a very nice feeling controller and probably would have been my first choice if it wasn't for those issues. I'm hoping the C40 isn't as disappointing.

Sony did good with the ps4 controller in my eyes but i wish more games would use the touch pad as when its used properly it adds like another 4 buttons and thats just the physical ones not touch, like in the witcher 3 being able to just swipe up instead on pressing 3 buttons is nice.

Funny how Astro just now released a controller after all this time. At first this was the original product they were targeting but went into the headsets because at the time gamers and pro gamers said that the headset needed improvement. As for the d-pad what other option do you want. I have the Xbox Elite controller and never changed the d-pad. I use the normal d-pad, the other option is awful. Just because you have to use a little screw driver to swap parts on the Astro controller the scuf is better. The scuf doesn’t offer the customizations the Astro one does. The Raiju isn’t any better. I feel Astro took the best of scuf and other programmable controllers to make the Astro controller. It’s the best of both programmable and customizations.

Evil controllers are awesome, check them out if your already thinking about spending 200 bucks on a controller. Better than scuff hands down

i dont get the point of third party controllers... the stock controllers are literally the easiest things to take apart and customize... for example you can change the faceplate, thumbsticks, dpad, triggers and bumper of an xbox one controller by just unscrewing 5 little screws... thats it, and u look like a badass because ur controller is one of a kind and doesnt look like another 3rd party one anybody can buy at the store

Still doesn't compare to the battle beaver. It's not even close. The tightened sticks and smart triggers are in a league of its own. Only down side is the wait time. But you pay for quality and I like they don't rush controllers out the door.

astro’s c40 is their first controller? fyi before gaming headsets, they designed xbox 360 controller, so technically c40 is their second controller.

Only $200? That’s a steal for a great pro controller. But let’s leave it at it’s always been with the analogs. Xbox can keep their way of life.
