You always go above and beyond to create informative public transportation videos to help your viewers! 🏆 Good to know about the contactless payment method for the fares, and taking the subway is much more economical compared to Uber/Lyft or taxi. 👍 Keep up the good work, and YOU ARE THE BEST! 😎 Thank you for sharing this video, AK! 🤗

Hi. As a Native New Yorker who lived there for 51 years, I can offer some tips that have served me well & hopefully will ease your concerns:
-I always feel safe 6 am to 8 pm & in busy areas (like Midtown Manhattan & Downtown Brooklyn).
-Space is a huge deal for many New Yorkers. Be courteous in sharing space on crowded trains. Keep bags/personal items as close to you as possible.
-Use common sense; be aware of your surroundings. In the rare event you get bad vibes about a situation, stay calm/relaxed, but move (subtlely) away as far as possible. Or change subway cars if necessary.
-As an unwritten rule, subway riders are quiet, keep to themselves & avoid eye contact. But if you need to ask someone a question, most come out of their shell, are friendly, and enjoy showing off their knowledge of the city 😂 (don't be alarmed if they are initially startled 😂).
      Have a great trip!

Nice video, AK. A few comments: 1) Your smartphone (both Android & iOS) can be configured in the wallet to designate a particular payment method for transit; then the phone does not need to be unlocked in order to work at the turnstile 2) Discounts for seniors, students, & the disabled are still available through OMNY, but just like the Metrocard need to be prearranged in advanced with OMNY. 3)People who complain about the dirt, the rats, or the crime in the subway don't consider the context-- namely, that 4 million people are using the system EVERY DAY. Personally, I think they do a great job overall and it's the biggest bargain in mass transit.... and at a single price no matter how far you're traveling in it.
