Great video Michelle! I just shared this with my younger brother and sister, as they are both starting as a PA here soon. Hope all is well in the ATL my friend!
This is a really great informational video! I'm in the process of trying to network and hopefully land on my favorite show to work behind the scenes. Preferably in post, but a lot of people suggested general production first. Besides networking, what would you say my next steps or go to actions are? I've seen videos and books that people from the outside went on set, gave them their info and call back to work for them. Did you see and witness this happen many times? I heard from my network that you start as a general PA or a post-PA but 9 times out of 10 you start as a general PA. Should I continue to play the long game here or should I continue to take action and reach out to more people and different shows I like?
There's no one way to get hired. Sometimes getting on set (whether as a passerby or extra and passing on your info) can work. Basically, you need as many times 'up bat' as possible to hand off your information (& resume). Do research on who works in your area, contact them, and send them your resume. Yes, 100% everyone should be starting off as a PA (whether that's on set or in the office, depends on your long-term goals). You need to be on people's radar (who you are and what you can do) in order for them to hire you. There's a saying, 'closed mouths don't get fed.' Always be taking action, even if it does not yield the results you want/expect. It takes time to get that 'yes.'

Your demonstrations for all the roles you've been explaining in other videos doesn't sound like its coming from the top of your head. If you really knew how the industry works you wouldn't need a script to make it look like you know what you're doing BUT I appreciate you dropping this knowledge :)
I pre-write most (not all of my videos) so they are efficient and to the point. If you've ever spoken live on a topic, it's easy to get side-tract and forget items you wanted to touch on. My time is valuable, as is anyone who is looking for answers as fast as possible.
I love the phrase copy that. I love how you say it to.😎🖤😻
