    Very nice numbers. I've seen as high as 320 at the wheel. You can add a small percentage for loss and then add 20% for crank numbers.

      oh for sure. Admin tuning is probably the best tuner for these vehicles that I've seen. He gets people there quite often. With headers and true cold air intakes and some admin tuning magic one can definitely get there.

  • @carloschevere9335
    @carloschevere9335 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you ever get long tube intakes? Debating on getting them but I hear both sides that they do help alot and some that sag they don't. Would have been perfect to see you get some and dyno with current tune and then tune for them!

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  ปีที่แล้ว

      nah I never messed with headers. I heard so many fitment issues etc I was mainly trying to see what extra could be squeezed out of a mostly stock set up here and was happy with the result. I think a tuner more familiar with vq such as admin or z1 could have done better, but this was local so thought I'd give it a shot

    If you wanted to, ya could do an e85 tune with new injectors and I think maybe you’ll need a different pump ? Not sure but that would push you way up in HP, definitely not cheap tho lol !!

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure that was an option I considered and really wouldn't have cost me any more, but e85 is scarce where I live, only one gas station in my town has it and it's on the other side of town from where I live so coupled with it giving worse mpg + the inconvenience I decided not to do it right now.

    How much do you think the cat back contributed to these gains? I have K&N drop ins, Z1 post MAF intake hoses and Berk HFC on my 2009 G. I'm thinking about getting a catback, but I'm not sure it's worth it. They are too expensive in Hungary. Should I skip the CBE and go to tune with the current setup?

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey man, yea the exhaust doesn't do as much as the HFC. I'd say the exhaust as a whole was maybe 6-8whp and the HFC were the bulk of it, probably 16-18whp there with the drop ins little to none, but helps overall with the whole combo, obviously a true CAI would do a bit more, but to me, drop in K&N filters are better than doing a hot top side intake haha.

      but honestly if you're just doing it for sound (which is the only reason for an axle back) you probably won't even care about that after you hear how much better the vq sounds with the HFC. A friend of mine just did HFC on his with stock exhaust and it sounded really good as it was so try it first and see what you think.

    Hey Chris nice gains bro , but do you think if you when with test pipe you would of gain way more hp or not really, am having a hard time choosing between the two , any recommendations

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks. No, from what I've seen the difference would be pretty marginal unless it's a boosted car and then it could be a 10+ hp difference. I believe test pipes would be louder (unless they're resonated) the hfc are plenty loud so I didn't want to to louder. If you check out my exhaust video build it was too loud at first actually for my set up. The main reason though was that my shop said they're not aloud to install test pipes and can only legally remove the cats I'd they're replacing them (hfc) so since I didn't want to do it myself I went the hfc route. But really I could've got more power with an admin tune, but he's a long ways away and didn't want to do a email tune and still not know the power so I decided to do it locally where there was a dyno. 🤷‍♂️

      @torvarrisevans3961 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sharpmoves it's personal preference. I've had so many cars over the years, 2 miatas, 2 350zs, a 4G Eclipse GT, FX35, G37 sedan, G35 coupe and of course my wife's 2016 Signature model Mazda CX-9 currently. I used to detail a lot of high end cars so I've driven a little bit of everything. A few months ago I had someone offer me a lot of money for my car, cash and it was very tempting to take it as the deal was legit and was more than my car is worth by quite a bit, but....then I was tasked with finding something I liked better (or at least as good) And to find that I would have had to spend a lot lot more to either get a GTR, or jump into the Bavarian counterparts that I didn't want to afford the maintenance dealings on. After considering one of my childhood dream Porsches and coming away grossly disappointing after driving 2 of them I realized the VQ platform has spoiled me, they're such good cars for the money (rather 350/370z g35/g37) that even some cars costing 2 or 3 times as much don't put the smile on my face that this one does. So I decided to just keep it and be content with what I've got. As far as considering change for video content, that's a whole other thing. For me, I don't consider myself a youtuber, I only started adding videos with this car as I did things to this car and I've pretty well got it where I want it now, just enjoying driving it :) I like your channel though, keep it up!

      @@keat5582 to the overall difference with the tune, yes (compared to if I only did the exhaust and hfc) however it was the combination of the kn drop ins with the z1 intake tubes (the red things) that made the power curve feel smoother, more linear even before the tune. I thought g37 330 hp stock?

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No, that's crank hp aka bhp. yes the brochure may say 330 hp, but that's not wheel hp. Cars lose a lot in the drive train getting to the wheels, typically about 15%. The earlier G37s ('08-'10) were about 269whp typically for some reason and then the later vqs ('11-14) seems like about 279-283whp stock is pretty typical. Thanks for your comment

    • @aureliomontoya8197
      @aureliomontoya8197 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GQ37 i never knew that, why is the 08-10 only 269 whats the difference?

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@aureliomontoya8197 for some reason the later model VQVHR engines put down a little bit more power. For example, a '14 or '15 Q50 3.7 ot Q60 3.7 will usually dyno higher whp than my '12 even. Could just be the age of the vehicle over time or perhaps better engineering in the later model run or just because their newer? Maybe in another few years it'll balance out. Also manual cars seem to put down a little bit more stock hp on the dyno than automatics as the auto seems to lose a little more due to the torque converter, but once you start modding I don't think it matters....and let's be honest, the auto shifts after and is faster in a straight line than a manual anyway so it's a wash. ;)

      Nah, people spend way more than that on bolt ons for headers and intakes etc. And really people spend more than that on wheels and tires that give 0 hp, in fact I went to 20s so they cost me performance when I did it, but no regrets. I mean if you have that outlook then every dollar you put into the car you won't get back so it's all a waste right? Everytime you go to the gas pump, waste 🤣. This was an experiment. Admin tuning could have got me more hp no doubt but it also would have cost me more. The thing with bolt ons is the dollar to power ratio will always be higher than FI, but you can do it a piece at a time. To go big power with FI you gotta drop a good $15k+ at one time and then nickle and dime it a little to get it right. A friend of mine twin turbo'd his G and by the time he was done said he should have just bought a used GTR for what he spent. 🤷‍♂️ Then he sold it, now to me, that was a waste, but to each their own.
