  • Noganosh Lake canoe trip completed in mid summer 2010. This video highlights some of the area and showcases some of the excellent fishing to be had. This area can make a great 2-3 day trip and campsites are plentiful on Smokey and Noganosh.

Looks like an incredible place... headed up there in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

Good to see you use a forgotten spin cast real. They are a bulletproof real. I’ve had a couple of Johnson reals for over 50 years and very reliable. And tuff no bails to bend or break no line tangle. Use 10 lb braided line for every thing. 🇨🇦👍

I so love this area, it's truly a hidden gem. You seem to enjoy tough trips with lost portages, so I'd love to see you explore this and the adjacent Magnetawan Park in depth, as there's apparently plenty of that to be found there. It'd be especially cool if you did it with your Dad too - love both of your channels. It's a decade after this trip now, and you're still pretty much the only one on the lake there, sure hope it stays that way!

Another lovely video. Looks like we've camped a lot of the same areas, including the Noganosh system. I've been there 3 times, so I think I recognize actual locations (the narrows between Smoke Lake and Noganosh, the weedy bay on Smoke lake, those cliffs along that narrow stretch east of Noganosh itself).
Best part about the Noganosh system is that it's only 3 short portages into it from the Pickerel River, then you have days and days of portage-free exploring through it's many lakes.

Do you recall sites big enough for 3, 3 person tents? We plan to take the 522 put in at the S Narrows to Smokey Creek and lake and into Noganosh and over to Clear and Mud lake. Thanks

The bass in the beginning were identified wrong. In his right hand is a largemouth and in his left is a small mouth.

Green Veggies great. Glad you liked it. A lot changes in 6 years. I do prefer the goon stroke. Seems to work just fine. Gets us from A-B and we paddle roughly 2000km a year including races. No issue. We're sorry if you're displeased we're not canoe instructors. Hope you enjoy your next outdoor adventure.

I am gong through all the Explore The Backcountry videos and no where do I see anyone claim to be an expert or teach paddling strokes. I searched and found Green Veggies has 0 content on TH-cam. I really appreciate Brad's humble and accurate response. I wonder how many races or canoe miles Green Veggies has under there belt? Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing the adventure!

    Hey Brad,
At :57 sec of your video you hold up 2 bass and say they are both small mouth. Just an FYI, the bass in your left hand is a small mouth but the one in your right is a large mouth. You can tell by the horizontal stripe on the large mouth. Also the largies mouth reaches back behind its eyes where the small mouth doesn't.
Thanks for the sweet video. Keep them comin!

Never grab a fish by the gills unless you plan on keeping it.

Pete Servinis thanks, that's certainly one of the things we've learned in the 8 years since. We ate that bass btw.
