Thanks for sharing the adventure. The summers of 1985-1990 I was privileged to be able to lead month long canoe trips for teens in the Mistassini region with Cree Guides. As a young 20 something those experiences with Cree Elders totally changed my thinking on the term Wilderness, as we paddled and portaged through their homeland on waterways and trails used for millennia. Those trips left an indelible mark on me and provided the foundation of skills and decision making that has allowed me to have a career in outdoor leadership. Thanks for allowing this 63 year old to relive those formative years. Keep exploring and sharing your story.

Thank you for posting your canoe trip. It was fantastic, we are all different but the same.
Back in 1987 I solo paddled from Mistassini down the Rupert river to Waskaganish on (James bay). I wanted to paddle the Rupert before it got damned up by Hydro Quebec. Your trip Brought me back as if it was yesterday. I’m now 62 when you’re older than me you’ll have a chance to see your younger self doing this trip. Wish you guys the best. ❤

Nicely composed trip log. My son’s both have canoed that country with Keewaydin Temagami. You took a lot more video than they did! Thanks. I was waiting to see the fishing rods, and sizzling trout on the campfire, but alas, it never happened. Wasn’t even sure you had rods until the last episode. Those rivers you were on hold enormous quantities of trout, both lake and brook. Some hold landlocked salmon. Was there a reason you didn’t utilize fish more frequently for food? Keep on exploring and sharing. Thanks.

Ok have watched all videos and there is no doubt in my mind that a lot of careful planning and logistics were involved. This team was ready for all contingencies. Second the location and geography are first class. Quebec wilderness deserves more respect from a World Class POV! And while editing can be a digital "make-up" , the group dynamics seemed above average...even synergistic. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this canoe wilderness expedition. Happy New Year to everyone!! Edit: the videography is a 95/100. Top tier but some room for improvement.

Haha, I'll take that! As someone who does this as a hobby on the side, I'm constantly trying new things with the edit and filming. Can never stop improving and that's half the fun!
We loved Northern Quebec. We'll be back in the near future for another adventure!

I see all the wonderful comments and was right there with everyone until this one. Thanks for showing the park, your adventures are always interesting however I do have to point out that even if you put that wonderful pike back in the water, you did end its life. I can only hope you all at least ate it as it will likely not survive anyways. That would be quite an old fish and with that much fighting, dragging to shore, holding up out of the water far too long, it won't likely make it. Won't be thumbing down as it was a great trip but I'll keep my next thumbs up for your next one.

As always with you’re channel, a pretty impressive video. One thing I like is that unlike some other videos, you plan for bad weather and delays. Shows experience.
I didn’t catch what happened with the pike. Did you guys eat it or release? I’m curious because people are so "environmental", and will put back a fish on a wild lake, and instead eat a meal that was highly energy intensive in its production, preparation, and the packaging? Plastics, dyes etc are a huge problem in packaging. Then transportation. But a fish, living in the wild, with just a few mls of fuel, would give a feast for several people.
Sorry, but I’m tired of fashion environmentalism, and worse, people begging the gov to take away our power of choice, because they don’t want to make the choices on their own.

Getting pretty pro with the production values, great job and great trip. The last two lakes very much like the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand just a lot bigger. Can I suggest trolling your lures when you’re paddling you’ll probably catch a bunch more fish. Happy New Year.
