  • Here is a quick comparison of 2 of my Yamaha basses both built in 1983. I am playing through my Origin Effects BassRig Super Vintage directly into my Motu M2 sound interface.
This clip is "Cypress Grove" by Clutch and I stripped out the vocals and bass so hopefully you can hear how these both sound in the mix of a song. I am no recording expert but you can definitely hear a difference between the two.

Both sound great, not as big as a difference as would have thought, but the BB2000 definitely ‘pokes’ out from the low end a smidge more with the reverse P. Not many vids doing an A/B like this, so thanks a bunch.

Thank you so much for checking out my video Thomas. I really love both of these basses and wanted to see what kind of difference there would be between the two.

@@delucajohn2000 both are incredible basses, and you did a great job getting a clear recording so you can hear the nuances of both. The old Yammy BBs are the best kept secret in the bass world!

I lean towards the BB2000 a little bit more. It's a perfect tone to me. BB3000 is still great though.

Yeah, it’s a tough one. I seem to go back and forth between which one I like better but they both really are great basses. Thanks for the comment!
