Collapse of the Soviet Union, sequence of events that led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union on December 31, 1991. The former superpower was replaced by 15 independent countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
On January 1, 1991, the Soviet Union was the largest country in the world, covering some 8,650,000 square miles (22,400,000 square km), nearly one-sixth of Earth’s land surface. Its population numbered more than 290 million, and 100 distinct nationalities lived within its borders.

Thanks for this video, it was very enlightening... but it would've been better if personal opinions are not included, just sticking to stating the facts. For example your opinion on Mikhail Gorbachev is somehow misleading & can made viewer an assumption that he did something wrong, in my opinion he did right thing not to send military for communism enforcement & media freedom... but this video made it seem like those decisions are mistakes.... whether it was intentional or not ,it did gave good result of less people dying & more freedom....
