Serious Young Insects has been, and will remain, one of my all time favourite albums. Trailblazing music.
Alien Hip Hop is a proggy fusion classic. I can't help laughing looking at Donati make it look so easy.
I have no words for how much I respect what Virgil has achieved in drumming. Completely on his own level, mindblowing.
Doug Shreeve on bass. Love his growl sound 💪 That man is a shining gem!
High five! Bassist Doug Shreeve is in a class of his own. Unfortunately he stopped playing professionally not long after this video was made and has gone completely off the radar.
Mindblowing, those musicians, ho my...and Virgil proves again he is not from Earth.
100%
He's from Planet X 😉
This may be the greatest performance of any live musicians ever. WTF!!!!!!!!!! mind blown
This video could be called "The most technically advanced drummer to ever live giving one of the best performances of his life... and his band mates are pretty good too".
A me piace anche molto il bassista fa dei giri con il basso unici molto bravo 🎉🎉
Wow thanks for uploading the last part! What an absolute perfect show! Alien Hip Hop!!!
You're welcome William. Thanks for pointing out the upload fault 🤘
Virgil is the greatest drummer to ever sit on a throne!!! This is an amazing group of musicians right here!!!
Thomas Lang is better
Holy crap, intense music from another dimension. Why Virgil left Pearl drums is beyond me. This kit sounds way better than any DW kit.
its plain economics ....the highest payer gets the honey !
Amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Stumbled on this after checking out Simon hosford via little river band. This is just amazing. Absolutely love this. Fantastic musicianship. I am sending this on to every musician I know. Bloody amazing
I could not agree more. Sensational!
WTF?? "Shredder" Simon Hosford was in the Little River Band??
What an incredible performance!!!
Wow...what can one say but just unbelievable & awesome. Very humbled to have had the privilege to have worked with 3 of the band. Thanks for the upload Hoss
Wow that drum solo Me, Myself & I was mind blowing. Never heard drums being played that masterfully...
Thank you so much !
Great bass sound and playing. So many jazz bass players have a crappy thin tone - this has BASS! Great band.
That guitar solo from Pyramids on Mars is the best shit I've ever heard. EVER, PERIOD.
This Fantastic💫💫💫💫💫
Incredible and original fusion...
Oh man, what an upload!! What have I done to deserve this!? Thanks so much. What a treat. ❤️ Great sound too. A lot o live recordings sound dirty, not this one. 💎
This is like listening to Planet X... but on steroids! Amazing! Out of this world!
Fantastic!
Those Pearl drums kicks the dw’s all day long.. great sounding kit 🤘
Wow
The Pearl drums really sound great here. Virgil has always had a knack of getting a great drum sound and really knows how to pull the sound out of his drums and cymbals. That said I think his best sound was when he was playing Paiste and Sonor and least impressive was the Remo era, (although he still sounded great even on the Remos)
My thought exactly
But neither can touch the Genista's 😊
Oh Planet X🔥🔥🔥🔥
Still the best prog project EVER!
This can't be real.
Real shit down under
It’s not. It’s Memorex.
It is bro 😅😊😊
😂😂😂😂 All right. From universe...
I was there and it was unreal and real at the same time.
That bass player... OMG... Absolute killer. Never heard something like this. Out of this world.
Doug Shreeve, he’s been on a lot of Virgil’s projects
Listen Magma band, from France. If you Don t know. Is some difference but is amazing.
It´s like a musical storm!!
BEAUTIFUL ...This set should be an ALBUM!!... Unity and determination ...Inspiring.
Casually playing live in 11/16 like it's nothing... this is ludicrous! I got Serious Young Insects on CD back in 2001 and it remains one of my favourite albums of all time.
Sounds Awwwwsome !!
Jazz-Rock isn't dead. It just smells funny.
Zappa
Mark Wingfield, Asaf Sirkis, Sean Wayland
Great quotes from Frank Zappa jazz is not dead it just smells funny
Not enough like buttons for this.
jesus christ that bass player
Yerp.
Doug Shreeve
Astonishing!!
One of rare bassist who can tolerate Virgil!!
@@RocknJazzer He just disappeared after a few club gigs posted on TH-cam.His fretboard shows all the practice!I’ve never seen that kind of wear before.Almost looks roasted lol
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! So good, so inspiring!
One of the absolute best concert I've heard, and Doug Shreeve is just pure magic! ❤🔥
Absolutely. Strangely and sadly, not long after this tour Doug Shreeve gave up playing bass professionally, a loss for his fans and the music world.
Thank you for uploading the show man !!! I'm from Brazil and couldn't find anywere !!!
So beautiful! I love every second of this masterpiece of a concert.
Out of the haze would've been an absolute ripper with the bass solo followed by the killer arpeggio section. What a chord progression. Maybe OTVs next tour at the end of the year? 😜
So true, love that song! Could not find it anywhere
What an awesome performance ... bass sound is killing everything 🙂
Bassist Doug Shreeve is in a class all his own.
thank you for this...the On the Virg album is a work of genius...just incredible melodies and musicianship.
I've watched this performance countless times by now. It's absolutely flawless. The sound is immaculate, the playing is stellar, the material kicks so much ass.
This may mostly be music for musicians, but it's absolute top shelf.
Tks. Perfect show. Really nice 👍
Unbelievable! Thank you so much for this amazing upload!
The incomparably brilliant and gifted DOUG SHREEVE on bass, especially KILLING IT on "Eternity" at 40:40. In a class of his own, Doug sadly quit playing professionally not long after this tour. COME BACK DOUG!
thank you for listing personnel. What a bass MONSTER. Come back, play more!
A dream came true. Thanks
THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD ....
Awesome stuff. I seen you guys in 99 at Brisbane. I'll never forgot that show. It was amazing 😁
Virgil is a time bender...
Thomas Lang is better
@@82mangini troll... You have your opinion mixed up with reality....
ABSOLUTE BEAST ON THE BASS! totally one of my best 5 bass players of all time in the prog world!
I am amazed/glad people are seeing this show now! Having seen him live back in the day AND owning the actual On The Virg album... man... so many great melodies and crazy grooves, top notch musicians. *cheers*
Incredible… Very happy to have seen this!
THE FUCKING BEST.. I still have my serious young insects from 1999.. Love em all..
same here! 🍻
bro could you mind share a cd rip on flac? I can't find this on the internet.
Best Aussie band to have ever existed. Hands down
I'm watching this AGAIN after watching it half a dozen times last month. I have to say my fav moment is Turcio's solo on Thinking Stone. Virgil digs in so hard and Turcio seem to push him to new levels, totally awe inspiring!! Thanks Hos, for making this available, a landmark event for instrumental music in Australia and the world.
Espectacular presentación y excelente sonido para tremendos músicos. Gracias por tanto .💫
Simon Hosford.... you're a force of nature brother. Fantastic guitar work here man. You're all musical powerhouses. Thanks for bringing this to those of us who value the complexity and dynamics of this amazing music. Be good brother...
Thanks for posting this show. Everyone is killing it and bassist Doug Shreeve is in a class of his own. Sadly, it appears that he appears to have stopped performing shortly after this tour.
Super drummer, super music and musicians, super concert!
Can't believe they didn't play Native Metal, one of my favs
Yeah right. That song would be perfect to open the show. Dessert Girl is a cool song, but man, it's On The f *** Virg, play the OTV songs! Serious Young Insects is my favorite prog metal/jazz fusion whatever in the world.
This whole thing is incredible, holy cow.
Because they know what tyey are playing &what tey realy need ,and ofcourse Mr "DONATI"is here with us😂👏👏👏👏😂🙏👉yes s s s ssss.....masterpiece of the masterpieces in whowly times&awesome indeed☄👑🌸🌹💖🌹🍃🕊💚☝holylove🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Espectacular!!! Este bello rompecabezas sonoro potencia nuestra creatividad.
This is outlandishly and utter ridiculously good.
Avid OTV listener here but this video is new to me. What a find!
thanks so much for this
Super!
E X C E L L E N T
Great Great Great feeling... I loooooove the music... and your feeling is huge
Bravo.
All my best !
Phil from Dunkirk
Virgil it's the Best drumer and compositor.. it' alien like Vai,magic, and good Man,. Pasión,técnica y corazón,
I think OTV is the best progressive band ever! So much energy! Awesome!
This is a journey into the cosmos. Amazinggggg ❤❤❤❤❤
Great show, Simon. Im a big fan of Virgil's music.
One of the best show ever, amazing band.
I was there at this performance - Melbourne (Doncaster?) the whole band carved it up totally. Simon you were absolutely on fire that night, as captured in this video. Not only that, you were a total gentleman talking enthusiastically to fans afterwards, so much positive energy. Hope you're going well now..
One of my fav drummer, but after watching this video, I love him even more. The sheer power they put in this performance is incredible.
FLAWless compositions and ELECTRIC human potential !!! These guys should be household celebreties
tnks for upload this JEWEL!
Monster guitar player!
Off course…
Monster? Sorry he scares you.
OTV !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And speaking of Jesus himself, I'm watching this on Christmas morning, 2022. Very fitting, as in Make a joyful noise!
Incredible. So much admiration for you guys.
One of the best things has ever happened in history of modern music. They all play different tine signatures and yet the outcome is pleasantly harmonious. Shut out to Doug being on BEAST mode on the bass.
reminds me at times of Richie Kotzen's Inner Galactic Fusion Experience back from 1995, and his fusion collab albums with Greg Howe from 1996 and 1997... how ahead of their time were they
Interestingly, I'm here after watching an interview with Bruno Valverde, drummer for the Smith/Kotzen project.
He says in the interview that he was discovered by members of the band Angra playing a Virgil cover.
I'm really enjoying this ´´new´´ discovery
The keyboardist has hands of steel!
Dude, I'm so happy discovering this, thank you SO MUCH for this upload!!! Probably one of the best live footage i've ever seen with Virgil playing some of my favorites from Planet X and his solo carrer. I've always dreamt with a Planet X live dvd, this somehow gets closer to this dream than anything I've ever found of live footage with those songs. REALLY, THANK YOU!!!!!
Holy crap I've been waiting so long to see the whole set, I never thought I'd actually get to see it!!!! This means so much to me thanks a lot!
Time for a Reunion! 💪✌❤
Virgil est un génie, le meilleur.
Awesome, memory lane! I remain eternally gutted that you guys never released that show with Evri you filmed at the Evelyn before the record came out, that lineup and those tunes were magical. I had a dodgy bootleg of that show that remained my favorite piece of recorded music until somebody stole my stereo with the tape in the deck. Love ya work mate!
Yep, must have seen nearly every one of those shows at the Evelyn over 1997, before I moved overseas in 98. 20 years later, now that I'm back in Aus, I'd drive 20+ hours to see them play again in Melbourne. Although the Grainstore (from the mid-80's) is now well and truly gone. You would think that in today's world of sharing parts over the interweb, and the last 2 years of few performances, there'd be a host of music stored up awaiting release. Fingers crossed, eh?
@@greghartmann1472 We can dream! :)
this music does not come, it has an infinite life
They are not humans. I think I'm gonne watch it again and again and again.....amazing!!!
Great show!! 100% monsters
Incredible underground masterworks. Virgil brings the best players and music to the world!
The Thinking Stone is just PERFECT. Gorgeous version.
Mind-blowing one million times 🥁🤘❤️
Absolutely amazing!!
What a baffling guitar tone!
Amazing
One word - Awesome
What an awesome concert, thank you for sharing, you guys are from another planet.
This is just Freaking awesome!!! 💪👊❤
Doy gracias Dios porque haya música así y músicos tocándola. Vaya bomba...!!!!!!
There's an element of heaviness that was not on the recorded disc.
Must be the bass and guitar combination.Mixed louder.I love it!
