one small note: you mentioned how the pregnant woman in outlast 2 has the most generic name ever, but the name “jane doe” isn’t her real name. jane doe/john doe is the name that the police give to murder victims/dead bodies who they can’t identify, so the name is essentially a shorthand name for when they haven’t yet found out who they are
@@PocketInfinity343fr lol it was a good try although some things were way off
@@PocketInfinity343fr he lowkey just says things that aren’t true lmao
her name is anna lee
Some lore: Outlast 1 connects to 2. Miles has a brief cameo in it. He destroys an antenna with the power of ants. The faciltity from outlast trials can also be seen on the cliff side and the main antagonist of outlast two, the cult leader, is from trials. Red barrel has comics on their website if anybody is interested.
Great video BTW ❤
He destroys the antenna in the comics, not in Outlast 2. The facility from Trials definitely isn’t the facility we see in the distance in 2 because Trials is set in 1959 during the Cold War so it can’t be the same and that also means Knoth can’t be from Trials either. Just reread that and I hope I don’t come across as condescending omg😭
@@kngmaegorwteatsIt actually is the outlast trials facility. Its called sinyala, and in real life its a mountain located in arizona, coincidence? I dont think so
The first Outlast game is always going to be the best.
Agreed bro🙏
YES
Having recently played it, I disagree. Good but not great imo. Trials has much more reason for me to comeback. 2 was just a joke. Whistleblower was peak.
@@godfrey4461seems like a fake outlast fan
@@TKBAHA more like someone who just has an opinion, stfu about being a 'fake outlast fan'
2:37 "Jane Doe" is not her actual name. John and Jane Doe is the name for unidentified dead people. Blake and Lynn were there to investigate her case of mysterious death. The death caused by some sort of fake pregnancy that the morphogenic engine is responsible for.
The connection between Outlast 1 and 2 is the radio tower. Its a science project by murkoff. The only document in the game that connects Outalst 1 and 2 is hidden near a lake close to the radio tower.
Outlast 2 had greater potential in my opinion. The idea was great on paper but the execution was lacking all sort of storytelling and gameplay necessary to make this game good.
Outlast 2 is actually my favorite it’s more psychological and messed up
for me, this is how i rank the outlast series (including the dlc)
#1 outlast 1
#2 whistleblower
#3 the outlast trials
#4 outlast 2
bro decided to make a video about a topic he isnt even well informed on… he says outlast 2 has zero connection to the first one and doesnt know what a jane doe is ,
Dont get how people can just say stuff and not feel the need to do research or know what theyre saying is true like just shows ur intelligence aint all that there …
I detest ignorance
@@Tuco_Salamanca3 same here
Bro your channel is the ultimate binge video game channel fr
As a solo player in outlast trails. It's still fun as fuck to play. It scales the challenge for the amount of players so you aren't doing double or triple the work. The solo experience is excellent and I would recommend it if you love horror. Shit is amazing
Whistleblower DLC is so good whaaaar
FRRRR the scariest too imo.
Am I really the only person that thinks Outlast 2 is the best??
Outlast 2 have a good atmosphere but were comes to story outlast 1 is the best
@@motazgamesmovies3882 honestly I love the whole franchise. No bad games. But to me 2 is overall the best all around. In my opinion.
@@4kcris293 I respect your opinion ❤️
@@motazgamesmovies3882 😺😺
2 is amazing. Trials should be last on this list but its his opinion and thats fine
I played about 10 minutes of the first one with my wife on maybe our second or third date. It was waaaaay too overwhelming 😂
Hoping that you get around to ranking the only two of my favorite series that you haven't covered yet: Mega Man and Metroid!
My list is very different
Whistleblower
Outlast 1
Outlast 2
Trials
2 over trials is crazy
@@godfrey4461 im glad your enjoying trials but its not an outlast game to me and i think its ass!
Decent combat, better enemy ai, better characters, outlast 2 is good but i think outlast trials is just more fun over all @@HelixChannel
@@HelixChannel No I'm serious I just find them more memorable and like their personalities. It also helps that they feel like real psychos you could see irl. I'll be honest I never read the documents but when you're hiding in the dark and listen to them you can pick up bits and pieces of their life that show what happened to them. It's something I never got from outlast 2 sure the characters were cool but all they were to me were just some loonies you run into while trying to haul ass back to civilization. It also doesn't help that most of the big name enemies you do see are rarely part of your journey so you never get to know them that well. Outlast 2 was great but I think the main enemies (while still memorable) are just crazy people with little to know interesting backstory. Whereas coyle and gooseberry have something to them coyle actually being a police officer and a history of violent crimes or gooseberries abusive past with her father or the grunts being what could have been you were all really fucking cool.
@@Gamedox20 i dont need combat in an outlast game and what characters are you talking about? Honestly i dont play horror games to laugh and have a good time… i like to be scared shitless in the dark with a headset on. lol. Horror games with multiplayer or combat are not scary to me. I love the resident evil games but they arent scary at all except that one part in RE7 where u go in to Evelines room. Alien Isolation is prob the only scary game that has combat in my opinion and its pretty minimal. This was one of the few franchises that i thought would always be atmospheric, dark and scary but they went the multiplayer route and killed that aspect. Im glad you like it tho, im not a hater of the people who like it. Its just not for me.
Actually if I’m not mistaken the name “Jane doe” refers to an unidentified woman similar to how John Doe is used the same way.
Bricks, really entertaining video bro. Keep it up ✌️
love this video dude, definitely gonna come back for more :) oh yeah, bricks
I bought Outlast 1 and the whistleblower DLC, i cant handle horror games so I never got far
u gotta revisit them and finish them sometimes. The twist ending, especially in the first one, is super good
Brixon is in the wall great video my dude
Another banger
Outlast is connected to the first game, murkoff is doing experiments with that village which is what the horn and white screen is when Blake hallucinate, also in outlast trials the game is set pretty close to outlast 2, but 50 years before the first and second game, which served as the origins of the experiments seen in outlast 1 and 2
Also the horn and white screen that makes people hallucinates makes an appearance at the end of outlast trials
“Sawing off someone’s leg.” *third leg enters frame*
This channel is criminally underrated. Easy subscriber.
On a side note, Mystic Ruins, great choice for background music!
Outlast 2 does connect to the first game, just in the least obvious way possible. It's my special interest rn so strap in:
Essentially, the cult that you stumble across have been mind controlled (as cults are) by Papa Knoth. Knoth himself is (more or less) under the influence of the Murkoff Corporation via the morphogenic engine. How? They have towers surrounding the land where the cult is situated.
We experience the effects of the engine first handedly when Blake has his hallucinations/memories of his childhood. The bright flashes of light and transitions are caused by the frequency emitted by the towers.
Another tie between the games has to do with the reason there are no female inmates or staff at Mount Massive Asylum. This relates back to the morphogenic engime as well, being as it was causing phantom pregnancies. At the end of Outlast 2, when Lynn gives birth, she tells Blake, who is supposedly holding the child, that "there's nothing there." The baby also has no shadow. So pair that with the fact that she went through all the terms of pregnancy within only a few hours, and everything makes a lot more sense. For outlast.
The comics are really what tie the games together through the story of the two mitigatipn officers, Paul Marion and Pauline Glick, but i haven't actually read them, though, so i don't know enough to say.
I feel like the outlast franchise is a pretty consistent franchise, none of the games are bad but it comes to preferences
Outlast 2 has no connection with the first game? You didn't find the Jennifer Roland document near the lake! Do more research before stating something
The game had barely any connection to 1 period. One missable lore file doesn't make up for the story's poor presentation.
@@HelixChanneloutlast trials takes place in 1959
@@godfrey4461stop yapping
@@HelixChannel it’s not the bridge between
@@HelixChannel and you can’t be bad at the game it hand holds you and spoon feeds you the story through blake’s corny dialogue it’s literally no competition out last 1 is better outlast 2 is like outlast for kids
Respect for using re0 theme honestly beautiful
Definitely respect the ranking. Just a couple nitpicks from me though:
1. Outlast 2 most definitely connects to the original game. In fact, all of the games and lore are connected to one another. Maybe you just didn’t read the documents or something? Idk.
2. You mentioned in your Outlast 2 portion that batteries are the “only resource you have to worry about” and that’s not technically true; you have to worry about the healing item as well (bandages).
Might seem like a weird thing to point out but since you pointed it out first I figured it was fair haha
Outlast 2 actually does have a massive connection between one and 2 I don’t think you payed enough attention to the files 2 is just another mind control test done by murkof like how outlast1 was just another test by murkof just in a mount massive asylum it as simple as you didn’t pay enough attention to the “lore” or files
so jane/john doe is the name given when a person (typically deceased. amnesia might work) is unidentified.
Good video. I agree with your ranking order. Trials is by far the best Outlast game in the franchise in terms of gameplay.
Outlast trials is an boring unoriginal game and just isn’t that fun, imo the game looks cartoony and isn’t at all realistic or even good looking, everything just looks like plastic. It’s not a hood outlast game and just isn’t a good horror game in general, it’s just your run of the mill objective-based Co-op game.
I disagree with your opinion it is fun and I think it's personally supposed to look like plastic because there scenario not places like outlast one. But the only thing could be bad replayability if they don't add new maps and bosses.
Outlast trials isn't horror? Horror comes in many types, the Trials try to cover all types, shock horror, environmental horror, etc they do it well imo, and the reason it looks "plastic" is because its literally tests, and unoriginal? Be serious here, was there a game that was like The Trials before the Trials released? No, lethal company was made after the Trials, it is Unique, ig its just that you don't like that type of horror and you prefer Nintendo 64 graphic style horror.
The Outlast Trials is my favorite game from the Outlast series. It can be one of the funniest game with friends.
All the Outlast games are linked to each other in some type of way!
I don’t think you mentioned how the guy you play in whistleblower, Waylon park, actually is the one that sends miles upshur the tip
well its clear the Jane Doe joke flew over everyones head lol
Outlast brought some great stuff in 2013 when it came out like horror games that u can't fight back is trales have a solo or single player
Alright imma defend this guy because the outlast two people are eating him up you shouldnt have to go on the comics or find every single piece of lore to know the basic story of a game the game needs more hints at the story being connected with the other ones instead of making people do mega research its just how games should work
'outlast 2 wasn't as well received' from who?? that game was incredible and all I ever heard was incredible things. I think its great, but I do respect your opinion and understand why people would dislike it, but their are a lot of connections especially if you do read the comics as well.
It was almost universally mixed. Many people feel it was horrible, or a okish game that was a step down from the first. I find it a minority that people say its the best of the bunch.
@@godfrey4461the minority’s are speaking facts
@@godfrey4461 91% positive on steam is still very well recieved lol
Outlast 2 is disgusting, shock value bullshit. Nothing about child SA and baby murders is interesting. It’s disgusting and meant to shock people, that’s it
@@Tuco_Salamanca3 Do you even know anything of the lore?
Red barrels are gonna struggle to top trials it was awesome and a great price for a great game love it
My biggest issue with Outlast 2 was the gameplay. There were no memorable enemies and you always had chase sequences instead of hiding
The first Outlast was a banger🔥. Gave me old school horror game vibes. I like the 2nd one but it could've been so much more. Trials......I don't know, I prefer the story campaigns more.
Wait do you not understand what the name Jane Doe is or is it a joke?
Found Outlast 2 was the best. Coming from a Resident Evil fan since 1996 so take it as you will.
Outlast 2 is connected to the first game. It's just not a direct sequel to that story. I think Outlast 2 gets a bad wrap. It does fumble a little from its over reliance on chase sequences, but the set pieces are incredible. I also loved the biblical tie-ins, which imo, made it way more unsettling. A lot of what makes these games for me is the villains. Trials is great, but it's not as good as the other 3.
I love every single outlast game and I mean every single game but outlast 2 is number 1. Trials number 2, outlast number 3 and whistleblower number 4. It's hard to rank them worst to best but that's my rating
outlast 2 is connected to outlast 1 if u read the comic books about outlast
Outlast 2 is pretty fun actually, I just hate the school flashbacks part.
Outlast 1 Whistle Blower DLC really good
You know what’s crazy is nobody asked for a multiplayer game from outlast we wanted a linear intense campaign like the first 1 set in the past but yet they gave us this pointless game that is not complete
This is exactly my opinion… i was so excited to get another outlast game because i love these games, but trials is not what i wanted at all.
Trials easily has the best gameplay and you can put far more hours into the game just playing through the levels than you can in any other Outlast game.
@JtoTheKato they are still gonna make outlast 3 lmao and it's a live service game your supposed to stick with it I've been and they've been adding so much shit sense Launch you guys are being silly
@@godfrey4461I agree with your take the gameplay is great asf but i also agree with them i miss the single player story, i wish there was sequences like when father martin in outlast 1 burns himself and the music kicks in. i hope outlast 3 has trials gameplay but story like the other 2
@@godfrey4461sorry don’t know why i said allat
the outlast 2 was connected to 1
i agree with outlast 2 being last. they tried to do way too much. outlast trials is not better then the main game or the dlc lol. trials is amazing and i have 300 hours in it but only bc multiplayer is so well done. i feel like everyone hypes up trials bc of multiplayer alone.
@@HelixChannel i have the platinum trophy for that game lmfao. i still love the game j isnt as good as the others. much better then u at outlast tho dont worry. go worry ab ur shet mashup songs lmaoo
Outlast 2 is a masterpiece.
@@HelixChannel This is sad. I almost feel bad for you that you sat down and thought this somehow got him. Yikes.

outlast 2
trials
OUTLAST ONE
OUTLAST TWO
Whistleblower
Trials
Trials on top
The weirdest take I've ever seen on every single one of these games. Don't agree with any of the ranking order, which is fine, but your criticisms are flat out ridiculous. That being said, Outlast Trials is a blast solo
Idk arm wrestling solo just doesnt sound it....
My guy obviously isnt a fan of outlast💀
outlast trials is a decent game, but a BAD outlast game and i will stand by it. there is no real horror due to the atmoshpere, enhancements, gadgets and the whole trial premise. also, outlast 2 IS conected to outlast 1 and you thinking otherwise is telling me that you dont pay attention to getting every document and lack media literacy, im sorry. for me the best will be always the original, but i find whistleblower and sometimes outlast 2 scarier.
Real
Outlast 2 is repulsive and only meant for shock value. I can’t stand it. Which sucks considering the fact that the first one and whistleblower are my all time favorite games
Wtf is this list bro?
I really liked Outlast 2, but I resonated with it a bit more than others. If you grew up religious and have any trauma or bad experiences from it Outlast 2 will scare the fuck out of you. There's something terrifying about people so consumed by a cult and its awful beliefs to the point where they've basically gone feral. It stuck with me long after I beat it.
Trails is the worst by far
God damn bro I just hate this damn franchise, I played only the first game and I just hated it so much. I watch some of the others, I don't know I guess its just me but I really need some action like killing staff in order to enjoy a game.
One of my favorite game series ever. A lot of the horror is given to me because I can’t kill anything I only can run for my life
@@kratosdogg8152 That's great man, it's good that many people can enjoy all kinds of different genres of video games. Not my favourite kind but I am glad that for a lot of people it is.
