    Thank you so much for this video. I followed it closely and was able to solve all of my power issues. The phone had started crashing just when I opened the camera app, but the problem slowly grew to include opening other apps until I couldn't run the phone if it wasn't plugged in. I worked carefully so it took me about 45 minutes. Honestly, the hardest part was slowly breaking the adhesive because I didn't want to crack any plastic.
    One note: I purchased parts from Repairs Universe, including a kit with a bunch of screwdrivers. The T4 didn't fit the screws on my phone, but the T3 did. I assume that the screwdrivers were just mislabeled, but I would recommend that someone who is going to try this have both on hand, just in case.

      @Mahesha999 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean your apps were crashing or not opening and replacing the battery solved the issue? Also want to ask how easy it were to remove back panel and LCD? Did you applied heat to screen with heat gun?

    • @arfyness
      @arfyness 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A little bit of heat helps greatly with softening the adhesive. It also softens the plastic back, so it can get a little distorted, but you can just heat it back up to reform it to the proper shape.

    My Nexus 6 definitely did not have T4 torx screws on the middle panel. I had to use a T2 (which was too small) and eventually a T3 torx. Repair instructions are good and easy. I grabbed a 9 dollar kit on eBay and replaced my battery. I used a box cutter razor blade to pry off the back cover.

      @Reda Heinze Can you explain in detail this part im planning to do this so i actually need to know if this part is important and the question is do i need to buy a new inductive charger to actually use a new battery ? or i just need to disassemble the inductive charger and put it back again and the new battery ? or i can just buy a new battery and just put it there and it will work ? please be so kind and let me know thanks.

    please note for two difficulties, while moving your tool below back cover it is very easy to rip off the brown flat connector. also, the back cover is glued very hard. it is really hard to separate the back cover. the battery is glued very strongly to the wireless charging coil. the battery removal actually tear off everything around.

    why are we removing the inductive charger from the mid frame and then putting it back, may I ask? Or is it optional, just in case if the inductive charger is not working?

    • @wantonsoup
      @wantonsoup 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Allan Wong Exactly. It's showing how to replace it if needed. I think it's a pretty darn cheap part so if replacing the battery might as well.

    Great video and was able to replace the battery successfully. Couple of points: the back cover needs more guidance and the inductive charger is optional. 5 stars though!

      JustMe42 I didn't mind at all. It's a reminder as to how tedious the process is and why I shouldn't get such a phone again. For example the battery replacement on the Huawei Mate 8, Mate 9, Motorola E4 Plus is a bit easier. No back cover glue and no 24 screws.

    • @arfyness
      @arfyness 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Personally, I appreciate it. I will be referring to this in order to make sure I got them all, especially when I am bound to have like 5 screws left over and can't find where they go.

  • @clementcho
    @clementcho 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    T4 is too big. The correct size is T3. I screwed up 2 screws. :-( The Back cover has a lot of adhesive. Be careful if you force the cover, you may torn off the internal casing. Just do it little by little with a lot of lighting and look inside constantly to make sure you are wiggling at the right place to separate the outer shell and the internal casing. Avoid the area around the Power and Volume button (There is a connection cable there). Most of this video because they have done on the same phone repeatedly, therefore all the adhesive are gone and very clean. Therefore, it would seem easier than real life.

      "LCD adhesive tape" on ebay. I prefer 2mm width on a roll. It's small enough that usually no cutting is necessary. Plus, if you get 50 meters of the stuff for a couple bucks, you can just line it side by side wherever you want to put it and still have tons left over in case you need to redo anything. I know this is an old comment, but it can be useful for others hopefully.

    I cannot understand why the guy is holding the phone while undoing/replacing all those screws. Surely putting the phone face down on a towel would be much safer than skidding across it with a screwdriver if you're holding it as per the video and risk damaging all those fragile parts?
    Otherwise it looks like a good guide apart from no mention of the glue holding the phone together after reassembly.
    I just can't believe that it would work without some sort of heat added.

  • @DzenisSoftic
    @DzenisSoftic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    where is the heatgun used ? I don't see it in the video

    • @Vyomanaut
      @Vyomanaut 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Dzenis Softic It is probably for setting the adhesive free while removing the back cover. If the back cover doesn't come out smoothly, a little application of heat there will make the adhesive weak and you should be able to pull the back cover out.

    • @alec7137
      @alec7137 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Why doesn't he make mention of this in the video?
      It would seem to be sensible as the glue on some phones is probably set so that the back is not as easily removable as in the video.
      I find it hard to believe that if the back is replaced that it will hold without some sort of heat being applied.

    idk if my battery is messed up or the motherboard because my Nexus 6 only works now when it's charging and when I take it off and open apps such ass Snapchat, my camera, Google chrome, Instagram, etc it just turns off randomly but there's no problem when it's charging, hopefully it just needs a new battery :/

      When your battery eventually takes only a few hours to discharge, it will be worth it. Just take your time, be patient, and heat the glue on the back cover (not hot enough to burn you) you'll be fine.

    Thanks for this tutorial.
    I was finally able to salvage my aging 2014 Nexus 6 by replacing the battery.
    I'm still using it as of 2018 March 8th.
    Though had an issue with one (1) single screw having accidentally stripped its head -- that instead of 45 mins, it took me 3 hours.
    I was finally able to remove the front & back and install the new battery.
    The battery seems to last and will keep you posted on it's longevity. The turbo and wireless charging works flawlessly. I was able to *turbo charge* to *60%* remarkably in *just under 30 minutes.* This is with a running *custom ROM ANDROID Oreo 8.1*
